DB/Reporting :: Provider Cannot Be Found - Code Attempting To Access An Oracle Database

I recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64bit and ever since then I have had nothing but issues with my code attempting to access an Oracle database. I was using msdaora for my connection string however that does not work in 64bit. I changed over to OraOLEDB.Oracle which everything I can find on Google says to use however it fails every time. I have installed Oracle 11g 2 times now and even tried reinstalling VB.net 2010 and still no luck.
I've created a small DLL, an addin for Autodesk Inventor, this addin saves some information provided by the user and the program to an access(mdb)database.The whole idea behind this is that it allows users to quickly find drawings, assemblies and so on.The DLL works great on x86 systems however it has issues on x64 because I used ado.net.In a attempt to solve it I forced .net to compile it with the target x86 CPU settings.
However using this I'm unable register the dll (C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727RegAsm.exe /codebase SavetoDatabase.dll )It says its not a proper .net dll file and therefore cannot be registered.
is there any other access-database connection provider (like dao or ado.net) that works on a 64 bit machine? Or do I need to change from mdb databases to another type (like mysql)? because sooner or later all machines its running on will be converted to x64.Or do I need to register the dll in another way?I've also tried to replace the conn.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 with ACE, with no luck however
i have 2 computers - a Server and a Client pc which is running on local area network with MICROSOFT SQL SERVER 2008 R2 Developer kit at the main pc and Client computer will need to connect to SQL SERVER at main pc using connection string.Let me named server computer as 'MAGNA-PC' and the client pc as 'LAC-PC' and database name is 'db_referafriend' so the code for MAGNA-PC(server) connection string is:[code] i GOOGLE and YOUTUBE for almost 2 weeks before i post . I know that i need to configure the sql configuration manager and enable tcp/ip also add a new port at firewall to allow remote connection also add the sqlserver.exe and sqlbrowser in firewall and I have also chosen "Using both TCP/IP and named pipes" under Remote Connections in the SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration. and all of this doesnt work!
can you tell me,how can i add a provider for oracle(Microsoft Provider oledb for oracle).Actually i had Microsoft ODBC for oracle but i want to add a provider above mention.

I want to be able to search through a table I have created to store all the information.Rather than just searching for one variable which would be easy to do, I want to give the user the option to filter out the search from the form.So say the user hits "Find", they would be given access to 10 comboboxes, they would select the information they want to search for (They do not have to select every box) and then click "Do Find".Then the form would display all the results of the query in the form.
I have a stored procedure on an oracle database called : GET_HVE_PACKAGE_VERSIONS This basically calls versions of PLSQL packages as stores the versions into a table. I am having big problems trying to call this procedure. I have tried everything. I am currently able to create and update etc etc using the executeNonQuery method and I thought that I would be able to call a procedure them same way, obviously not
the whole project depends on me being able to call procedures against the database.
Iam having difficulty with what should be a simple program.I am trying to access a MS Access Database file (2003) using VS 2010 Visual Basic.It is a basic application of opening the Access database file and retriving informaion from one row of data. The Access file is called Billing.mdb containing the file in a table called Clients. My reference says to use the Provider as "Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;

I have an VS2008 VB windows application. I am deploying it via Microsoft .MSI . The target machine parameter is set to x86. When I deploy it to an x64 running XP I receive the following "Microsoft.ACE.Oledb.12.0 Provider is not registered on the local machine". Am I missing something in my setup project to make sure it registers all my components?

I have basic window to enter a service category and description with add, clear, and dashboard buttons. When I try to add a record to the Access database, I get the following:
"Provider cannot be found. It may not be properly installed."
The code and database is on a jump drive. When I run this at work, it works fine. At home I get the above message.
At work, we use Windows XP and Access 2002, at home Windows 7 and Access 2003. The database was saved as an Access 2000 format.
I'm converting some RDO code to ODBC Provider code in .NET.The problem is parameter names were not specified in the orignal code, but param values were retrieved by parameter name after the command was executed.Is there anyway to have parameter names populated by the provider once the command is executed so calling code can access params by name.Let me show you an example of the declaration of param and accessing of it.

You can now see how this "used to work in RDO/VB". For some reason it would accept this and know what the param names were after execution. I imagine it had to do another round trip to the db to get this info.
Is there anyway to mimic this behaviour in .NET for ODBC Provider (using Oracle)? Or am I stuck manually specifying the param names in the code (I understand this is the better option, but wondering what the alternative is to match the original code as closely as possible).
I have the below mentioned code in a seperate class file for establishing connection and carry out DB transactions. I have an issue where multiple connections being opened which sometime exceed the connection pool. When I stepped through the code I found that there are codes which call ConnectDB() in a loop without calling DisconnectDB(). But I expected that the condition OraConn.State = ConnectionState.Closed should handle the situation. Somehow the condition is always satisfied hence openning another set of connection. Can you suggest where am I going wrong and also what best practice can be adopted here?

The connection is again opened in function updData(). While I understand that it has to be closed correctly but keeping tab on every developer is not possible. Hence I want to control it directly from the connection class by using the same connection but the condition If OraConn.State = ConnectionState.
UPDATE I have put the code in UpdateDB under a Using block and removed call to ConnectDB and DisconnectDB from function like InsertData(...). It seems that the issue has been resolved. But I would like to know in case of exception will the connection remain open? and also OraConn is a public variable defined outside Using block so will it be disposed of by the GC?
I am trying to save an image at oracle data base with OLEDB provider and i used the function which written below there is no error appeared but in the same time the image field still null that means the image value was not saved in the db

UPDATE: Found the error to be related to the path. A literal path fixed the problem temporarily. Need to resolve this for deployment though. I am trying to access a SQL Lite table from VS2008 VB.net, using SQLLITE ADO Provider v1.0.66. I have successfully opened and extracted data with this exact configuration to populate the SQL Express DB on a web site.
But now when trying to execute a select stmt to populate a reader I am getting table not found, its the same table I read from earlier. This query works perfectly in SQLLite Expert Pro v.3.3.40.2189. Any help would be appreciated, the connection correctly shows it is opening. I have tried other tables in the same db and other similar dbs. Out come is the same. Its as if the Info Schema is not available to the ADO Provider.

We have developed one tool in VB6. It's working fine in few PC and some PC we are getting an error msg like "Run time error 3706 Provider cannot be found, it may not be properly installed"
I want to move my programs and the database to another computer and hard-disks. It looks to me as though I nearly have to re-create the controls and rewrite some of the code to make it so the programs still work after the move. At least with ODBC all I would change was the DSN definitions external to the programs. Is there an easy way to move or rename a database without loads of work?
I'm looking for some simple code that lets me create a Microsoft Access table via code.Currently all I do in Access is write and retrieve data from specific tables but now I want to be able to create them at runtime. Here is an example of the code I use to load some data just so you can get a feel of what I'm currently doing. I'm building an aplication with an MS Access database behind the scene. In many of my forms I'm gonna use DataGridViews to show data from the database, not an entire table but data based on manually built queries. So, I have few questions without answers, by now. Solutions or 1. I haven't decided how will I bring the database into the project: from the menu -> Add New Data Source, or within the code, at runtime. I still don't know which one's best or why.2. I'm trying to query an access database, but my query results only display the first cell of the query results.

I did the �Create a Data Connection to the Northwind Database� walkthrough, and connected via MS SQL Server. I cannot find where I can modify the SQL Commands. If I convert my Access Database to a MS SQL Database then can I
1) Just update the OleDbConnection, so it connects to the MS SQL Database (not the Access database).
2) If I cannot do #1, what do I need to start with?

Upgrade Property - I need to use the Update Query for this. A PropertyName is selected from a list box and someone then clicks to upgrade a property.
Properties.HousesOwned should have it's value raised by 1 Where the player owns all 3 sets. The Houseprice should then be took off the Players Money.
Downgrade Property - I need to use the Update Query for this. A PropertyName is selected from a list box and someone then clicks to downgrade a property.
Properties.HousesOwned should have it's value lowered by 1 (until it gets to 0) Where the player owns all 3 sets. The Houseprice should then be added to the Players Money.
