Mar 21, 2012i want to connect to a .accdb access database. the connection string is:
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:myFoldermyAccess2010file.accdb;Persist Security Info=False;
so if i want to make sure this works on any computer, should i just add the reference to:
Microsoft Office 14.0 Access Database Engine Object Library
is this all i need to do?

D. The following error message occurs when the revised Visual Basic program is executed:
"Run-time error '3343': Unrecognized database format"
I had previously used VB6; I am now using VS2008; What is the best manner to now open the database using the VB code? The code works with the Access 2003 database.

I exited my project and created a new project and tried to add a connection. Dec 2, 2009I have a vb.net application that will not connect to an oracle database on the PC that I publish the app too. It works fine under my pc both in design and when I publish it to myself. But it will not connect under the pc I publish it too. I do have oracle installed on the pc and have the connection setup exactly as I have on my own pc. I am sure it is a file path issue, or at least I believe it to be that.

Mar 29, 2012I recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64bit and ever since then I have had nothing but issues with my code attempting to access an Oracle database. I was using msdaora for my connection string however that does not work in 64bit. I changed over to OraOLEDB.Oracle which everything I can find on Google says to use however it fails every time. I have installed Oracle 11g 2 times now and even tried reinstalling VB.net 2010 and still no luck.
Here is my connection string....

May 27, 2011I am writing a very simple program that connects to a accdb file (Microsoft Access 2007 file) and returns some results in a datagridview. Everything is fine. Now because we have to deploy this program in many computers i publish it so everyone we want can install it and have updates. What i wanted to do is to make the database file part of the program which i did it by adding it to the resources. My problem is that i do not know what connection string to enter in order to access it in my resources.
My previous connectionstring before i deploy it was this

What should i change in the data source in order to access the same file in my resources?

May 14, 2009I want to (SQL) select from a table in an Oracle database, and show the results of the query in the VB application, in a Excel like manner (rows, columns, selectable, etc.). Or in a SQL developer manner. How can I do that? Browsed through a lot of tutorials and howtos on the internet, did not get anywhere. I think (and correct me if I am wrong) that it's gotta be something with DataGridView. But I don't know how to create and populate a datatable with the result of as Select statement, how to create a dataset.

Feb 22, 2011My application commits data to the database via OLEDB and I have no problems with that, but I'd like to be able to have a feature of my application which will enable me to open the database.accdb and display a query/report which already exists within the db.
In the old vb5/6 days this would be as simple as executing msaccess.exe and passing it over the filepath/report name in one string.
This has problems, what if the install path of access if different? Is this even supported in .Net ?

I thought it can be because on these computers they don't have access, but on one computer, is running another app which is using Access and there is no Access installed. When the search button is pressed, I want the username to be looked for. If found, the form (and each textbox, option button, etc.) is updated with that user. I can then modify the user's information and press save.
Second, how do I access and change information in a database with only code? For example, if I periodically want to check every user in the database to see if they have over "100 points" and if they do, I subtract 10 points from that user.
