Connect To A .accdb Access Database?
Mar 21, 2012i want to connect to a .accdb access database. the connection string is:
Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:myFoldermyAccess2010file.accdb;Persist Security Info=False;
so if i want to make sure this works on any computer, should i just add the reference to:
Microsoft Office 14.0 Access Database Engine Object Library
is this all i need to do?

B. The office Access 2003 database (*.mdb) is going to be upgraded to Access 2007 database (*.accdb).
C. The Visual Basic program is revised to read the same text file to Access 2007 database using the same Data Access Objects (DAO), The following is the DAO command:

D. The following error message occurs when the revised Visual Basic program is executed:
"Run-time error '3343': Unrecognized database format"
I had previously used VB6; I am now using VS2008; What is the best manner to now open the database using the VB code? The code works with the Access 2003 database.

My problem is that CR9 does not allow me to connect to the new MS Access database (accdb). It only lets me connect to .mdb. I used to use .mdb but i have upgraded to MS Office 2010.

I exited my project and created a new project and tried to add a connection. May 8, 2012I'm using Web Developer 2010, ASP.NET with the VB.NET programming language and a MS-Access database (.mdb).What I want to do is get all the data from a table called User (i.e. all the columns) where Username = ____, and then put the values in from the fields into text boxes so they can be edited. This is to make a 'My Account' page so that a user viewing the website can change his address, password etc.

Oct 23, 2010I am trying to create a username database for my program where people create a username when they first open the program and it saves it and uploads their username to an FTP text file.The problem I am having is that I want it to do this and then display ALL users that have created a username on my program and used it in a list on a textbox. I was going to have it do this by having it add all usernames to a text file on my FTP and then have it download the text file of all the users created from the FTP and load it into the textbox on the Form that displays them all.

Mar 7, 2012I'm creating a rewards system for school where pupil earn points for good behavior which they can then use to purchase things like a packet of pens. (They can also have points deducted for bad behavior). I've created all the forms and now its just getting the data in from the Access database. This is what I need to do. On my form called detailsPupil it shows various information such as Name, email address, last login etc. This form is loaded once the pupil has logged in.

May 27, 2011I am writing a very simple program that connects to a accdb file (Microsoft Access 2007 file) and returns some results in a datagridview. Everything is fine. Now because we have to deploy this program in many computers i publish it so everyone we want can install it and have updates. What i wanted to do is to make the database file part of the program which i did it by adding it to the resources. My problem is that i do not know what connection string to enter in order to access it in my resources.
My previous connectionstring before i deploy it was this

What should i change in the data source in order to access the same file in my resources?

Sep 20, 2010I have a program where a lot of the required information for it is stored in text files. I simply read this information into large arrays. However, I don't think it's necessary to load all the information each time. Rather, it would be more efficient if I could simply search through a list of items to find the one I need and then use the data from it, or to find a similar name and use it elsewhere.
Would I be right in using a database? And is database programming done in SQL? I have a book on it telling me to use the SQL Server (IIRC), so I shouldn't be doing it in the VB.NET Express GUI?
Here's an example of what I would do:
Hex = 03 00 => dex number 003
Search in file Pokemon Dex Numbers
003 returns Bulbasaur
Check Bulbasaur base stats in the base stats file
etc
So basically I'm reusing a lot of information. I think a database would be best and it would all be internal right? I'm getting complaints about access denied to a text file (since it's stored in the program directory in the program files).
So to cap up the few questions I have:
-Databases are done in SQL and not inside the GUI?
-Databases would load internally?
-I could search a database without having to load it into like an array or something?

What I am doing is making a Database of foreign Languages with the spelling of the words and the pronounciation inside the database... The USER enters a paragraph of words into the translator textbox and pushed translate. The program has a DATABANK of words with the phonetic spellings and matches the word, then translates to phonetics. The problem is that new words keep appearing inside the language. Jul 7, 2009For those of you that have been helping me for the last two days thank you first of all, my program is now at the stage where i need to have a windows application that the user can then select databases from, and then using these databases information will be put into a second application that will then run a program to compute some data and spit it into a .xml file.
Is there a prewritten piece of code for choosing databases? And then a set format for choosing cells in that data base to be exported into another windows application?
