Dec 7, 2010I searched for that error but got nothing.. strange.. so I'll ask..ok I have some code that I'm using to open MP3's and change the titles so I dont have to listen to audiobooks out of order....got this code from the web.. <below>I got it to open one.. and see all the tag's etc.. now I wanted to change oneof them.. but when it opens it.. I get that permission error.. the file is in c:/users/kevin and the file has permissions like normal.. but it wont letme open it..this is the open command its trying..FileOpen(intFile, mstrFilename, OpenMode.Binary, OpenAccess.ReadWrite, OpenShare.LockWriteEven tried changin the UAC settings to full priv.. that didnt work.

Dec 7, 2010System.UnauthorizedAccessException was unhandled. I'm following motcom's tutorial on creating a simple directory explorer, and everytime I try to expand I get the error above. How can I be getting that error on my own computer ? I'm on my administrator account, it happens even if I compile it and run it as administrator also. What could be causuing this ?

Sep 27, 2009i am creating an application that needs to read a text file from an external hard drive, the paths etc are all correct however i am getting the error System.UnauthorizedAccessException"i have searched through various forums and googled it and the only solution i can find is to allow the .net user permissions however i dont have this user/group on my system.also i am using Windows 7, dont know if that should make a difference.

Nov 17, 2009My application needs to change the default signature of outlook and I need to change the value of a registry key for this. But I get a error that I probaly don't have enough permissions. Strange thing is, if I change it manually it doesn't complain.

Jun 22, 2010In my VB.NEt 2008 application, I am frequently creating and killing the file Fileopen and Kill(Multiple times ). It was working fine with Windows XP. But in Windows 7, it is worjking fine for some time (creating and killing theile properly) and then t is creating unautoriszed Access exception after some time .it does not happen immediately and it happens intermittently.

VS 2008 System.UnauthorizedAccessException Missing Path?
Mar 18, 2009Ok so I have a small problem with an error I am catching. It only produces the file name and not the actual path of the file.I want to delete a folder and all the files and folders inside of it. However an error is thrown when a file is "read-only". A quick fix would be to set the attributes of that file to normal and then try again, the only problem is the error doesn't give you the location of the file.

Jun 12, 2010I'm running windows 7 64 bit and using VS 2010. I'm trying to use the filesystem.getfiles to find a file on the computer and return the path for it. However, when I search C:/ and its subdirectories, it always throws an error: "A first chance exception of type 'System.UnauthorizedAccessException' occurred in mscorlib.dll"
I've looked everyone online and can't find a solution. I have administrator privileges and really I dont want people who use my app to have to adjust security settings for this to work. Is there not a way to search the C drive for a specific file and return its path? [Code]

Next, I need to delete the Documents folder, but there are existing files within that folder, so it won't let me delete it. What is the easiest way to delete ALL files within that folder?

I have the names being displayed on a listbox, so far everything is working just the way I expected to work.When a file is selected from my opendialogbox, the file gets saved into a folder under my local disk, so far so good.The problem that I am having is deleting the file from the folder.I have added a delete button and I would like to when I click or highlight one of the file names to go into where the file was saved previously and deleted This is the code that I have for the delete funtion:

The problem is that if I add the code to the clcik event under the listbox, it works great, but if I add the code to the click event under my delete button, it doesn't work, what I found is that under the path, if I am under the click event from the listbox when it gets to the lisxtbox.text it displays the file name, which is what I whant, but when i tried the code under the click event under my delete button the listbox.text is blank.
Asp.net - Deleting A Folder On Another Thread Causes Webpage To Not Update?
Aug 8, 2011I have a web app which displays a list of emails that need to be sent for the day. The user can select what emails to send, then click a button to generate them. When they click the Send button, a process gets started on another thread which generates the emails, then cleans up after itself by deleting a temp folder. Once the process is finished, the Repeater is rebound to update the User's view and remove the emails that have just been sent so they don't get sent again.
My problem is that when I delete the temp folder from my 2nd thread, the UI doesn't update with the new Repeater data. It updates correctly if I just delete the files in the folder instead of the folder itself, and it also updates correctly if I run the delete the folder on the original thread instead of the 2nd one.

Why won't the UI update to show the new repeater values when I delete a folder on another thread?
When you click the button, a thread gets started and a javascript load script starts executing which does a PostBack every 10 seconds. Each postback checks if the thread is complete and updates the Status label showing the result. If I delete a folder from within the background thread, the final update to the status label never occurs. If I remove the DeleteFolder call, it does.

Bug Deleting File From Special Folder On Checkbox Click?
Jun 10, 2010I've been going round and round with this and thought maybe someone would know.I've created a program which with process.showdialog calls up a form into which the user enters username and password then is given access to the program itself. If the username and password is incorrect, the program closes.
There is a frmMain and in the form load I've added the process to open this sort of splash login screen. It's not a splash really, it isn't timed to close down.
I fill out the login information, click the save settings checkbox which creates a settings file in MyDocuments. My problem is that in debugging, removing the click closes the login page without the click actually becoming unclicked. The Main program opens before there's been a chance to register the "unclick." Hope this makes sense.

But when I upgraded to VS2008 the utility can no longer locate files in the active system folder.
