I am trying to design a digital clock using the drawing tool. i have drawn all the segments using the drawpen function and i have also created a timer that will get the current system time. i want to link the current system to the digital display i have drawn, so that when the time is 1:02 for example only that will highlight on the digital display

So far i have inserted a Picture Box control with a picture for the background of the form. I was told to use values Hour, Minute, and Second as Hour(Now), Minute(Now), and Second(Now ) to display a Digital Clock.

View 2 RepliesI have created a simple app to display a digital clock, it can create child windows (dialog boxes) to do various chores, one of those chores involves a lengthy background task, so I create it in a modeless manner, so it doesn't block the main program. It all works well... kind of took me awhile to figure it all out, but there is one little cosmetic issue.

The thing is to code a simple drawing tool and embed it to an existing vb.net application. The drawing tool should be a simple object and have the functionality very similar to mspaint (windows built-in drawing software). It should also have some custom brushes, and it should support loading and saving pictures in common formats such as bmp, jpeg, gif, and png. how to code such a drawing tool? Or can I instead download any such control or tool as an add-in to vb.net and use it?

View 6 RepliesIf i wanted to crop an image in VB.net, how would I go about doing it? I am trying to let the user drag out the box they want (system.drawing.rectangle), and it will automatically remove the edges surrounding the box.
My first problem is primarily the fact that I cannot make the system.drawing.rectangle visible. It is not displaying at all, I am setting its location and height programmatically, but nothing is showing up. I know there is probably something fairly obvious I am missing...but I cannot seem to find it.
My larger issue, however, lies with the cropping itself. I cannot find any crop methods, at all. Is there a hidden one I am missing? Or must I code it myself? How would I go about doing this? It ought to be able to output to a bitmap image object.
i have a data set on the data set many data adapters .i add a data adapter in the data set the designer was automatically delete then lot of error was coming and i search in google and i go this method and i do that right click the data set and "Run Custom tool" on that time the designer will automatically created. but when i do that a error was coming "The custom tool 'MSDataSetGenerator' failed. View 2 RepliesI'm a totally newb to VB and I want to do this. I want to do display system clock into a textbox. The trick is that I want it to be synchronized with the Windows XP clock. I want to have something like +/- 100 ms accuracy.
Each 'second' change will trigger an output pin to ground into the parallel port. This is very important that the 'second' change in the same time the Windows XP second change. Do not care about the parallel output thing, I'm nearly there. My main concern is the synchronisation with Windows clock.
In my code, I've added a counter that increment +1 at each 'second' change. So, when the 'n' value will reach a determined value, it will trigger another event.

I seem to have reached a limit on the size of the form. I cannot make the form longer and I need to add more fields. Is there a limit on how many fields can be included in a form?
View 1 RepliesI need some code to draw a resizable, draggable rectangular cursor (or selection box) on a picturebox. I found some excellent code (albeit rather old) that does just that, but on a form rather than a picturebox. I have tried converting the code - basically moving things to the picturebox events (Paint, MouseDown, MouseMove etc). It nearly works but leaves a trail behind it when you move or resize the cursor. In other words, the selection rectangle is not being erased before being drawn in the new position.
Is there some fundamental difference between drawing graphics on a form and drawing on a picturebox that would cause this behaviour? Something like, when you invalidate a form and cause a redraw it erases what you did last? If not, then I just need to dig a bit further and work out how the cursor is being erased from the previous position.
Here's the original code that works fine on a form:

Say I have 3 Buttons, labelled: Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3. When I click on any button I want a drawing of that unit to appear on screen at a pre-specified starting point. Thereafter when I press any other one of the buttons the unit drawings appear alongside each other in a line. So I could end up with:

When i connect to the website it checks my local cert store for a cert issued by them and if none is found, no entry, if multiple are found, then a box displays to allow you to pick which one to use.
View 1 RepliesIm an electrical engineering student, and I am trying to utilize the serial port to give me high and low digital states. What i want to do is simply turn on an LED or turn it off. the basic gist of what I have been trying currently is that on a button click, serialPort1.DTREnable = enabled or disabled, indefinitely until the next button click.
So far, I have only been able to get the LED to momentarily flash... It seems to begin in an active state flash off, then immediately, return to its active state. I am using Visual Studio 2008. Can I use DTREnable to generate on/off states by enabling or disabling the pin? Is there a tutorial somewhere for electrical engineering applications using visual studio 2008?
