Design A Utility Which Loads The Text File In Memory?

I have a text file with 3 columns.col 1 has 8-9 digit numbers which are unique. I want to design a utility which loads the text file in memory.The utility should run in the background while the user enters data in some other app. and whenever that 8-9 digit (from text file)number is pressed by the user a the data from other two columns is displayed at the screen or alert the user in some way. Is there a way to do this things in excel 2003?

This is kind of an off-the-wall question but does anyone know if VS 2010 has somekind of utility that will allow you to just drag & drop controls onto a form or something that will help in visual design. I'm just talking for visual purposes only. No code-behind files or anything...almost like a canvas where you can place controls and labels, etc.

This switching from VB6 to VB.NET is starting to become a major pain I have a program I am making that loads a list of Vehicles from a text file to ListBox1. When the Selected Item in ListBox1 is clicked, it brings up the Image of that Vehicle, called from an external Image folder, so new Images can be added. I have an 'Add Entry', 'Delete Entry', 'Refresh List', 'Save Changed List', and 'Exit' buttons, all coded and working as I want them to - Everything is working better than I planned, without having to Google my a$$ off finding 'snippets' - I figured most of it out myself - What I am trying to do now is have a ListBox2 populated with a section of the text file:

Part in ListBox2, which when an entry THERE is Selected, it can be edited in TextBox2.Is this as hard as it seems? I want all the Vehicle Stats for that Vehicle to show when the Vehicle is Selected, and have the Stats section editable...

I have this code for my update checker. It loads a blank text file on my server containg the current version. I have it set to naviagte to this url then searches the web browser for the current version. If it cannot find it then there is a newer version, and a button becomes visible which lunches a webpage that has the current version. project im working on for my course,the idea is a photo printing machine that loads up 4 images if usb stick is checked and a different 4 if memory card is checked. and then whatever image is selected appears in the big picturebox on the left [URL] i have 2 print size options set as radiobuttons, radiobutton 1 = 6x4, which costs 25cent per photo, radiobutton 2 = 8x10, and is 50cent per photo.i also have a textbox which will display the number of copies to be printed So here's my dilemma, when the print button is selected alongside one of the radiobuttons i want it to display a message saying something like this "you have selected (whatever the amount of copies)of this photo sized 6x4, or 8x10 depending on which radiobutton is selected, and i want it to display the total cost which is the number of copies multiplied by the rate for the print size selected, then an option saying "Do you wish to proceed" Yes or No.
I did something similar to this in class earlier in the year but cant remember it, it was an airline booking program with 3 types of payment cash, visa or mastercard,upon booking a message popped up saying there is a certain percentage discount for using visa or mastercard

I'm writing a program that basically loads an entire text file into a streamreader variable, then reads this variable line by line and parses and writes a line into a new text file. I'm VERY new and my knowledge is mostly self-taught, but I can't seem to get out of this one. It works for smaller files, but it appears to reach a limit in characters at some point because in a file of 900 lines, it stops writing about halfway through 800 and there are no errors, the program actually completes and the message box pops up.
There are a few things with this code I already know I should fix, such as creating the new text file name, it's messy, I just don't know how.

I'm trying to create a zip file though vb.net and move files into it using the built in windows zip utlity. so far I can create the zip, but not able to move any files to it.Here's my code:

I am writing an application that will use a OpenFileDialog control that will read a text file into memory and later process it.
I do have the following filter: Text files (*.txt)|*.txt|CSV files (*.csv)|*.csv|Spaced Text files (*.prn)|*.prn|All files (*.*)|*.*"
When I navigate to my test folder that contains a single .txt file, I see that file. When I change the filter to *.cvs that files goes disappears because it has a .txt extension. That is good. But when I select All files *.* it does not re appear? Why and how do I make it appear.

Need to design a program that can encrypt and decrypt messages stored in simple text files using a private key stored in a separate file. Software should also be able to allow the users to enter simple messages that either displays the encrypted or decrypted message. The encryption method should use a simple substitution method. It should be set out in the following format:

I believe I need the code for Load Event. I have tried many ideas. I have searched the threads here and also google of course. No luck as of yet. Better description: I have a file named hello.txt. The contents of this text file are "hello". I use my program as the default for .txt files. I dbl click hello.txt. My program loads and the contents are blank and it should have "hello" in it.

Now I want to load these files one after another into memory stream buffer and add the headers("ID","Name","Class") to the content in the file. Then I want to save these files in "C:" with "_de" as suufix to the filename i.e.,sample_de.csv.

I am looking for information on using mstscax.dll in VB. The goal is to create a utility that logs into a remote service in the same manner as remote desktop. However, my utility is not required to show the desktop.I have a series of commands that I will start off with that will look for users, reset logins, shadow, and message. I have been using a batch file on my RDP to perform these functions, but we are already looking for more functionality and power than what the batch commands can offer. I am googling 'mstscax.dll' but the results have been less than satisfactory although I continue to search.

lets say I have a form (form1) with lables a-z which are all designed with default text "0". So they all show 0 on program startup. which is fine. I also have a dialog with 2 TextBoxes; I want my program to update the default text/value on (only)form1 labels x, y and z to whatever was put into the textboxes when i press the OK button on the Dialog, so these specified labels show the 'new' value on next startup. Is it even possible or should I save the values to a file which loads the values in the specified labels on startup?

I am trying to create an application to make self-extracting Exe's in Visual Studio 2010 Express. I would like to have a box in which files can be dropped into, then when you click "Compile" it will compress all files dropped into the box along with 3 others I must have delivered to this self-extracting exe. When the newly created exe is run, it will launch "Install.exe". I know there are other items out there to build the self-extracting exe's. I would however like to make my own that always delivers these 3 specific files along with whatever is dropped into the application.

1. It only gets the first 4 bytes(is it?) of the memory address. I want it to get all of them.
2. I haven't discovered how to convert each byte(?) into a character. Is there a function for this?
3. When the program runs, after clicking ok on the MsgBox, it highlights the Next and debuggs:
Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Im trying to create an incremental backup utility on a web form using vb.net for code behind.
