I have a number of dropdown lists that I'm trying to chain together and they all have autopostback. How can I tell which one of the dropdown lists was the one responsibe for the autopostback?

I am trying to write a LINQ query which will return true if there are multiple objects which have a property with the same value.
Here is what I have come up with so far:

However the above always returns true as long as their are more then 1 elements in the list?
I am working with LINQ to XML in VB (although answers in C# are great, too). First off- my code works, so this is not critical. However, I can't help but think that what I'm doing with conditional logic should already be doable using the LINQ query itself. Here's what I've got:

Please don't be too critical of my method of locating the sibling nodes- the XML files are produced by a third-party testing device and this is the only generic way to get the values I need. What I'm really looking for here is a better way to handle the If block.

View 1 RepliesI have a project where I am taking multiple checkboxlists and totaling up points based on which boxes are checked in a certain list. I then display the sum of these points to a text-box. I do this for every checkboxlist.
The problem is this: when one checkboxlist gets changed, the other sums get removed from their respective text boxes. I have attempted this both with read-only set to True (which is the ideal setting in my case) as well as set to False (as per Problem in using AutoPostback in asp.net c#)
I am trying to use something like a "state" combobox that when selecting a state only certain "cities" will be dispalyed in a second combobox.
I know this is possible in asp.net with autopostback, but vb I have no idea.
I have an asp:checkbox control on an aspx page I am working on. This checkbox is within a custom control and previously was posting back every time it was clicked. I am in the process of ajaxifying the page and have come across a problem. When I remove the attribute AutoPostBack="True" from the asp:checkbox, the vb code returns False when I check myCheckbox.checked (this is on a postback else where on the page what has not be ajaxified), even though I can see the box is indeed checked.
I am assuming that because the checkbox no longer posts back, for some reason the VB code (or the view state maybe) doesn't see it as having been checked. Is this correct, and if so, how to I correct it?
It looks like this question was addressed here, but his solution did not work for me. I am creating a dynamic dropdown menu system that populates a secondary dropdownlist with the results of a query based on the selected item in the first dropdown.

Background: I have a winForm app that registers a user in the database based on the user input provided in the form, auto-generates a random password and username for the user, and e-mails the user a link to take an application based on the marketing company selected.
Problem: I got the bundles listbox to populate w/ autopostback set to true but the bundles listbox populates as soon as you click on an lbcarrier and it doesn't allow you select more than one carrier.how to allow multiselect with the postback feature on? Here's a screenshot of the interface:

I have a master page than contains my ScriptManager. On a child page i have an updated panel. Inside the update panel there is a dropdowlist. When i set the autopostback=true i get OutofMemory Exceptions. All the time. also note that I have AjaxControlToolkit set on my web.config.

I'm using the OnTextChange event on a textbox on an ASP.NET page. To have this working I have to put 'AutoPostBack=true'.
The problem is that the textbox is on the bottom of the page, and when the text changes it has to fill another textbox. This is working fine but when the event triggers the page refreshes and jumps to the top of the page, so I always have to scroll down again to see it. (Due to the autopostback)
Is there anything I can do to prevent it to jump to the top of the page?
When i take 55 checkboxes inside updatepanel then ..after selecting first checkbox the whole whole checkboxes will be refreshed and instead of showing images, it displays the checkboxes only in TFT monitors ... in wave form !!

I've got an odd situation with a text box and an autocomplete setup on my page. I'm using a JQuery based autocomplete on a text box that has AutoPostBack="True". This works perfect if I use the keyboard to select an autocomplete item, which then fires Jquery to fill in the text box, and then when I tab out of the box the AutoPostBack fires. If, however, I click on an autocomplete item, my text box loses focus first and the AutoPostBack fires before the Jquery has a chance to change the text in my text box. Is there a way to delay either the PostBack or the Jquery so that they don't fight each other? I'm thinking it may have to be the PostBack that gets changed, since the JQuery would lose it's state on the PostBack.

View 1 RepliesI have a number of rewrite rules for a lot of things that I did in IIS7, like removing trailing slashes, canonnical URLs, lowercase lettering, and such. IIS altered my web.config, and everything works fine on the website, like it should. But in the Visual Studio web.config, the opening < rewrite > statement is underlined in blue, and at the bottom of VS, it says that the element 'system.webServer' has invalid child element 'rewrite'. But this is how IIS made it. I didn't do this manually. Should I be concerned with this VS error, or should I just leave as be, since it's working how it should work? As I have been working on a project from a development book for self learning, I am having a problem with Dragging and dropping on my form. My form has labels that represent questions on one side and labels on the other side to be drag/dropped as the answers. I understand that under the element's properties there is Dragdrop and you can work with that, but how exactly do I actually make the element drag/drop? I want to be able to click and hold the element to drag drop, just as you would for reorganizing preferred settings or for my case of a drag/drop Q and A form.

I am waiting for an email to arrive (the page automatically refreshes) and then I want to click the link (I do not need to click to open the email or anything like that) I also have the code to click and navigate to the address reason being it was the only way I could figure out how to stop it opening in a new window on IE
So my only problem is I need a way to check every x seconds for the element and then if its there proceed with my code and if its not wait and then check again or however this is done in VB.If this is not the way its done please point me in the right direction the code I am using to find and then navigate to the link is

View 3 RepliesMy program has many forms that can be launched from the main form, and when launching a form, I need for my program to know whether or not there is already an existing instance of the requested form open before it launches the requested form.
So, if I have form "Search" with button "View" that launches form "Details", I need to know if the "Details" form is already open when the user clicks the "View" button.
Apparently, if I had developed my application as an MDI application intead of an SDI application, I could just do "If frmDetails.visible = True then DoStuff()", but the Details form's Visible property always comes back as False, even when the form is already open. If the form is always being reported as not being visible even when it is indeed visible, what method do I use instead to find out that the form is open/visible/in use?
im trying to find the top most window other than my form or its parent form...Background:Im writing software for a TS-MFD (touch screen - Multi function display), it has a docked menu bar at the bottom with the option to pull up an onscreen keyboard. Now the keyboard ive written and works well but the only drawback is i need to specify what window to send the keys too, be it inside my own application or a 3rd party app such as notepad. I believe the answer lies an recursively looping through GetForegroundWindow() from user32.dll and ignoring "Keyboard" and "MenuBar", but I dont know how to advance to the next top most window, i only know how to get the top window...so my window order is likely Keyboard,Menubar,(then the window im trying to grab)?
