does anyone know if its possible to find a control that would allow adding events to a specific date or displaying the events for specific day as a schedule?
I have been looking for options but I cant find any which either do what I want or that are free.
I have read on methods to set alarm and reminder. Any suggestion how to set a reminder to send an sms automatically?

I'm having some problems with a program I'm making in vb.net. I have two forms: one containing a datagrid with basic details of orders (date received, total value of the order, customer who placed it, date it was sent out). The second form contains a datagrid with more details (the stock code and quantity of each product purchased) on each indivual order. The second form also has a label containing the total value of the order. All this information is stored in a database.
By clicking on a row in the datagrid in form 1, I capture the OrderID of this row and use that to look up the information form 2 requires in my database. I only want to show the details of the order that was clicked. I'm having no problems filling the datagrid with the information I want but I'm unsure of how to get the label working.
I figure I might need to do something invloving a datatable, like this:

Where Total is the column I want it to display and Label1 where I want it; _passedText the variable containing the OrderID of the record that the user clicked on form 1.
I am creating a application,at present my application is in development stage..My app has a web browser control and a button the web browser will load you tube videos in the web page.i need to do display the video but i like to skip the other parts of the web page.this means showing video player on the web page and skipping the other parts..all it is setting the height and width of the web browser to display the specific part of a web page(scroll to the control and display it centered)
View 2 RepliesI know I can set the program to require administrator privileges in the manifest file.However, I don't need the whole program to have these privileges.
I only need admin when I want to write to the registry (this doesn't happen often).9 out of 10 times when the program runs it doesn't need to write to the registry, so only when I click on a specific button the box where the user can choose wether or not to grant admin to the program should show.
I looked everywhere for this but not sure if it can be done. Is there a way to fire events when a user clicks a specific tab. Here is the image to show it better:I am trying to have the program execute a special function when the user clicks on customer info.

While I've been able to connect to it and display the contents of its tables in a DataGrid, I need to be able to search the tables and display specific records, depending on the contents of appropriate the adjacent text boxes.[code]This is a code I've used for a very similar process, just really aims to search a different field in the table. If this is easier to adapt into a code that allows searching and producing specific records in a database, please use this one.

I have successfully converted the FullCalendar into asp.net / VB and it works perfectly. I am struggling to change the background colour of an event based on a SQL query. I have tried many of the links on StackOverflow and on the Full Calendar Docs [URL] but I have barely any knowledge of jQuery/Javascript so this is proving very difficult for me.I have 5 Employees and I would like each of them to have a unique colour on the Calendar. In my SQL table there is a SalesPersonID field for each employee. I want to change the colour based on the ID. e.g.: (I know this will not work in this scenario, it is purely for info)

View 2 RepliesI've been writing a weight program for flooded pressure vessels and I'm having trouble retrieving the data from the text files I've been saving. I know how to write the data to the text file, but retrieving it with OpenFileDialog is not so easy for me.The user has individual text boxes that they input strings or numbers into and when they save the file, each text box input is written to one line in the text file. For example, the first text box is for the username, therefore the first line of text that is saved is the person's name, the second text box is the customer, thus the second line in the text file is the customer name, and so on.
(Actually, the first line of text in the saved file designates whether English units were used or Metric units because when the user retrieves the saved file, English units will open one form and Metric units will open a separate form, so some If...Then statement will need to occur).I need to be able to read the first line, have either my "EnglishForm"form open or my "MetricForm" form open, and then have each subsequent line of text be displayed in their corresponding text boxes. I know I need to use ReadLine or LineInput, but I don't have a clue what to do.Assuming the syntax I've displayed below would just magically work (if only life were that easy), it would look something like this

I have an application that checks valid dates from a user selected text file. This app was written in vb.net 2005.
If invalid dates or if dates are over 16 months, I populate a grid with each record where there is a problem with the date. The user can then print the content of the grid and fix the errors.
I have been asked to automate this process.
In other words, I would like my app to check within a folder to see if a file exist in that folder [c:\Datafolder\FileToProcess\Filetocheck.txt]. I would like my app to check the folder every 15 minutes.
If a file is found in that folder, then process the file automatically without user intervention. If there are errors, I will create a text file with the errors.If the file had errors I want to rename the file to FileToCheck.txt.baddates and leave it in the same directory. If the file did not have error then I want to move it to [url]...
Is there an easy way to schedule a webservice that was created in vb.net. Would I need to create a .asmx file or do I create an executable in vb that calls a webservice?I have created a webservice using SOAPUI 3.6.1. would it be easier to schedule that instead of creating a vb app.

Im currently working on a major project for school that i can keep track of customers, giftcards, and primarily appointments. My current issue is how im going to build the weekly schedule page. I dont even know where to start with the ui let alone coding after that. Once i can figure out how im going to build i should be able to finish it from there.
Primarily its supposed to take info from the SQL database i have setup and from there populate the schedule on the screen. Its supposed to be like a weekly schedule with 15 minute blocks from 9 am to 9 pm for everyday of the week. The user will be able to choose the week to display from a datetimepicker control. The table holds each appointments date, time, length, cost, type, as well as an appt id for each appt and a user id to keep track of who the appt is for.

View 7 RepliesThe current project I'm working on requires me to automate some VB.NET code to run every 24 hours. Currently I have everything tied to a local webpage and I've just been calling it all from a button click in a browser.
My question is....what is the best way for me to start getting this to run on a schedule time frame? I've been looking into triggers, but if I'm not mistaken those are supposed to execute when an event is taken on the actual database. No action is taking place, I just need the code to execute. I've executed SQL statements with VBScript and task manager, but I've never had to work with VB.NET and SQL Server (using 2008) in this manner.
