Displaying Data In Grid View Page By Page?

Oct 30, 2011

I have more than 30,000 rows in a table. It takes a lot of time to load all the data in the gridview. So I want to display 100 rows at a time. When I click next page button, another 100 rows should be displayed. When I click previous page button, previous 100 rows should be displayed. If I type page 5 in a text box, then I want to jump over to the 5th lot of rows.

I also want to display how many pages there will be. Can we implement this concept in vb.net [winform] gridview. I am using database PostgreSQL.

Asp.net - Displaying Part Of Commandcolumn Based On Role?

Apr 14, 2012

I have a page with a gridview. The gridview has "Enable Editing" and "Enable Deleting" checked by default. I want to be able to "uncheck" either of these in the code-behind page_load event.

I found this SO question but this hides the whole commandcolumn. I only want to hide the "Edit" or "Delete" hyperlink based on the role of a user. How would I go about doing this?

Locating A Specific Part Of A String?

Jun 9, 2011

I am trying to make a program which outputs an Invoice Number, which consists of the first 3 letters of a person's first name and the last 3 digits of their zip code. The user enter their first and last name, then enters their city, state, and zip such as:

Name: Billy Jones
City, State, Zip: Chicago, Illinois 42349
Therefore, the invoice would look like:
Invoice: Bil349

I can get the first 3 letters of the first name fine using the substring function, but I have been stumped on how to get past all of the text to get the last 3 digits of the zip code entered.

Make A Sub In Master Page Page-specific?

Jul 29, 2011

In my master page init sub I have a block of data/text being written to a control. The basic idea was that it should be available on every page (obviously). However, I have come across a situation in which I need this to NOT happen on a certain page. Is there anything I can do, short of making a new master page for this specific page, to make this work? I also use a basepage, if that ever needs to come into play.

Get Part Of Page (HttpWebRequest)?

Jun 2, 2009

Is there any way to download only a part of a web-page? What I have is a program that downloads periodically (every 5 sec) a web-page and displays some real time information. So I would like to minimize the bandwidth as much as posible.

I have seen that many download managers have the ability to resume a download, so they actually have the ability to start from somwhere in the midle. So can I do that with a single web-page and without messing with the sockets if posible?

Let's say I have a PictureBox with an image of a house, for example, and I want to know if the user clicked on the roof, the door, the window, or the walls.

Is there some way to, maybe, set up an If statement so that it checks what the coordinates of the mouse click was and compares it to a set of pre-determined graphed points to decide what object was clicked?[code]....

VS 2010 Read Specific Part From File Into Textbox?

Mar 12, 2012

I want to make an option to load a playlist file into a textbox.. To do this i guess i will need the OpenFileDialog and Streamreader..

Untill further i have done this

Private Sub Button3_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button3.Click
OpenFileDialog1.Filter = "Playlist files|*.pls;*.asx"

[Code]....

I want to be able to read ONLY the link from the file.. In the first file above it would be after the "File1=" text in the file.. And in the other file it should be whats written after the "<ref href="" part..

And as you see in the second file there are three links, so to start with it should only read the first line, maybe later i could make a selection window popup or something..

Displaying Specific Data In Labels?

Apr 15, 2009

I'm having some problems with a program I'm making in vb.net. I have two forms: one containing a datagrid with basic details of orders (date received, total value of the order, customer who placed it, date it was sent out). The second form contains a datagrid with more details (the stock code and quantity of each product purchased) on each indivual order. The second form also has a label containing the total value of the order. All this information is stored in a database.

By clicking on a row in the datagrid in form 1, I capture the OrderID of this row and use that to look up the information form 2 requires in my database. I only want to show the details of the order that was clicked. I'm having no problems filling the datagrid with the information I want but I'm unsure of how to get the label working.

I figure I might need to do something invloving a datatable, like this:

Dim table As DataTable
Dim row As DataRow
table = orders.Tables("Orders")
row = table.Select("Total", "OrderID = '" _passedText "'")
Label1.Text = "'row'"

Where Total is the column I want it to display and Label1 where I want it; _passedText the variable containing the OrderID of the record that the user clicked on form 1.

Searching And Displaying Specific Records In A DataGrid

Apr 6, 2009

I've tried a few different methods I could find in order to connect my VB .NET program to a book store's database. While I've been able to connect to it and display the contents of its tables in a DataGrid, I need to be able to search the tables and display specific records, depending on the contents of appropriate the adjacent text boxes.[code]This is a code I've used for a very similar process, just really aims to search a different field in the table. If this is easier to adapt into a code that allows searching and producing specific records in a database, please use this one.

Print A Specific Page From A .pdf?

Apr 16, 2009

whether or not I can print a specific page from a .pdf?

The VB application has a folder of images, the same image has a large and a small size to accommodate for screen resolution. The application gives you the ability to print either image. Problem is that both of the images are blurry. The same image contained in the .pdf is crisp and sharp when printed from within the .pdf.

Can I have the VB application print a specific page in the .pdf? or is there a way to copy the sharp .pdf image and place it in the folder of images?

Run Sub Each Time A Specific Tab Page Is Entered?

Feb 4, 2011

I have a simple WinForm that is using a Tab Control to simplify data entry. The very last page has a text box that allows the user to "set a name" for the file. I really want to simplify this and suggest how the file should be named. What I want
is for when the tab page is entered (consider that generically) that the text box is pre-populted with a name.

This code will do what I want, but only the first time the tab page is entered. what I am apparently missing or a better way to do this?

Private Sub TabPage6_Focus(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles TabPage6.Enter
' This should simulate a load event
modGeneralInfo.docProductNaming()
modDocGen.docNameShorten()
End Sub
