Basicly I'm downloading XML files with the Webclient class for processing and caching in a local database. There are three different categories of data, each contains 1 to n numbers of XML files. To retrieve the XML file I ask the server with following parameters in the URL:

Using windows xp. Sp3. over 100GB free on each disk that I use,Attempting to unzip a file that has directories in it. I want all files in the zip file to go to one directory ignoring the dir structure.I'm using VB to do this. Problem is that the process hangs at the same place on 2 different machines. Any ideas. Code below in vb and the results.Executing the same command line from DOS works correctly.unzips 72 files then hangs.

Here's where it stops. And shows the dir struct of the zip file NDDF Plus DB. i've got a screen shot of the dir structure and files. basically it unzips the files in order of the dir structure and stops above.
I have some exe files that I've uploaded into my database as I don't want them to be publicly accessible. I tried using a link button and a generic handler to serve the file using the following code:

The problem: Google Chrome does not treat the download as any other exe, instead after downloading it reports "program.exe is not commonly downloaded and could be dangerous." with a "discard" button and the option to "keep" the download is hidden under a context menu.

I'm trying to filter submitted web sites by attempting to browse them while bouncing the request off of OpenDNS. If the page received is the OpenDNS page, I'll assume the page shoudld be blocked.

I'm trying to use a java servlet in a 3rd party tool's web interface (CA service desk) to invoke it's download file functionality using a webclient in vb.net. The trouble is the text stream from response is markup and not the acutual text file stream.
It's like the page is redirecting to another page which actually presents the file for downloading. I have no idea what the redirected page URL is.
Is there a way I can process this redirected page in order to get at the download using a system.net.webclient?
I seem to remember reading the MSDN somewhere that there was another method to download files from URIs other than using the webclient object. I'm trying to download some raw php files but every time I use the webclient object the server interprets them as an HTTP request and instead serves the default web page that the php file builds and not the php code itself.

The generated URL (in this case I'm using dogpile.com) is:

Itemlists is a global lists i retrieved from database, everything looks fine to me but when i run this program, I found that the threads are inserting one records 9 times into the database(I have 9 threads in total), which makes me think that maybe i need to specifically assign 1/9 of a list to each thread? Is there another way to do it which doesn't require the splitting of the list, if not , how do i split it then assign?

I have a form with 2 Report-viewers each displaying their own rdlc file they both are Identical the only diference is the user has the option to have their name or their logo on it..They both render perfectly in the report-viewer..I get the error only on one of the reports when I try to export to PDF with code I wrote not the built in export button in ReportViewer,if I use the built in export button it exports well.[code]

View 5 RepliesI'm using interop.msxml2.dll to open XML and txt files off an Internet server. The response that is received from the server is stored in my application's variables. I've recently noticed that the application doesn't always update the information when it goes to download a file that it has already downloaded in the past. For example, if it downloaded a file off the server when it started up, then when it attempted to download the new, changed file 5 minutes later, it would still return the same value as the first one. Even after closing the application, it would still return the incorrect, older value. How to stop this "caching" of data, and only allow the program to download the latest file off the server.

View 6 RepliesI am writing a class project application that is loadable from within AutoCAD. This application generates an Excel workbook with extracted data. I am having a problem with Excel closing when finished. It seems the Excel instance hangs until my application is unloaded. I have found the section of code that seems to be causing to hang, but I'm not sure why its hanging to prevent it.
Below is a copy of my code for the class (top to bottom with exception of the FileExistValidation method... too many characters ). The code section that is commented out seems to be what is causing it to hang. If I uncomment that, Excel hangs, with it commented out, Excel closes out in the background.[code]...
I have an installer class that presents a form to the user. One of the functions of the form is to browse to a file using the open file dialog. This form functions fine when used in an application but hangs when calling OpenFileDialog.ShowDialog() during an installation on a Windows7 or Vista machine (Windows XP it works as expected). I get the same rusult when 'run as administrator' and with UAC off. I also get the same results when calling SaveFileDialog.ShowDialog() in the same context. The call doesn't throw an exception but causes the form to stop responding. Any suggestions on how to get this to work correctly?

My program needs to monitor two folders and if any files arrives in any of those it needs to be processed.So i created two filewatch tasks & the OnChanged event for both This does not work when the files are already in the folders before i start to run my program.It works for just the new files coming in.having a for each loop files loop in the onChanged event will this work I would like to know what's the best way to achieve this

I have been trying to download the file from a virtual directory ( which is pointing to some other location) within the web-folder. I have implemented 2/3 ways on doing that, but none of the ways download the file. The asp .net page is not even showing the error, its showing a blank screen.
