I'm trying to make a very simple audio tag editor. The idea is that the user can select as many audio files as he likes from a ListView, and a PropertyGrid will then display their tags + their values. When multiple files are selected, I want the property grid to display the values of the tags that all files have in common, and display empty values for tags that the files do not have in common. As an example, look at the properties list in your Visual Studio IDE when you select multiple controls (of the same type for this matter). Select a few Button controls, for example, and notice that the properties whose values are the same (often things like Font, ForeColor, etc) are displayed. Also notice that the values for properties that are not the same (Text, Name, etc) are empty.
What is an elegant way to create and initialise instances of a class that has several readonly properties? Passing all values in a constructor would not be very convenient.
The purpose is that instances are immutable after initialisation. However if the constructor is not used for initialising all the property values, then how can the readonly properties be changed from another class?
I am writing a game editor, and have a lot of different "tool" objects. They all inherit from BTool and have the same constructor. I would like to dynamically populate a toolbox at runtime with buttons that correspond to these tools, and when clicked have them create an instance of that tool and set it as the current tool. Is this possible, and if so will it be better/easier than creating those buttons by hand?
Code: Public Class Form1 Dim NPB As Button Dim x As Integer
[code]....
As you can see, when I open a program from my menu, a new button will be created with text similar to this, "C:Program ". The button it self will not do anything. How can I create the method at the same time the button it is for is created? Also how can I change the text do that it gives me, for example, CCleaner.exe instead of the whole target path?
eg: dim classobj = xyz("CLASS_NAME") ' where classname is a valid class name and dynamically raising a known method of that class on that newly created object or class reference.
I've created a couple of Comparer classes for FileInfo objects to allow sorting by Name and LastWriteTime properties, but ideally I'd like to combine them into once class, so that I can compare/sort by any property simply by passing through the chosen property name. However, I don't know how to go about this. My comparer class current includes:
Dim oX As FileInfo = CType(x, FileInfo) Dim oY As FileInfo = CType(y, FileInfo) Dim Result As Int16 = oX.Name.CompareTo(oY.Name)
I want to be able to substitute the Name property with the property name stored in the _sortColumn variable.I'm expecting the solution to be rather simple, but as yet, I haven't been able to figure it out!
Solution:I'd already got as far as researching Reflection, and had stumbled across PropertyInfo. But Fredriks solution cut down my search and provided a bit of structure, and I've come up with this (VB.Net) solution which seems to work nicely:
This is another one of my "I think it's not possible but I need confirmation" questions.I have a base class for a bunch of child classes. Right now, this base class has a few common properties the children use, like Name. The base is an abstract class (MustInherit)Technically, this means that everytime a child class is instantiated, it lugs around, in memory, its own copy of Name. The thing is, Name is going to be a fixed value for all instances of a given child. I.e., Child1.Name will return "child_object1", and Child2.Name will return "child_object2".
How dan I dynamically create some public properties on a custom webcontrol.
For example, web control has 5 TextBox controls. I need a public property for each TextBox control to be able to set a specific property of the TextBox control.
I want to be able to loop the controls in the webcontrol and create a public property for each TextBox control.
i been trying to figure out how to get the control name and other properties of a dynamically created control. I have actually dynamically created a label andnamed it. how do i retrieve its name and other properties.?
I have a class in which some of the fields are also classes.I can put values in the "normal" properties, but in the others when o try to assign values it gives the: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"But the code compiles fine.
dados_Defenicao = New ServiceReference1.draftClaimEntryDefinition dados_Defenicao.arCode = "123" dados_Defenicao.claimMarket.warrantyType = "w" - Here it gives the error

I have dynamically generated some number of buttons. Now i need to manipulate them in such a way that clicking on one button should do something on another button. How to do it? I would prefer the code to be as simple as possible as i am tutoring amateurs.
Private Sub NewButton(ByVal ButtonNumber As Integer) ' set the button properties btn.Name = "Button" & ButtonNumber
I have used the following code to generate buttons dynamically. I want to know how to code in such a way that if i click one button, there should be some change done to some other button in the same form. Since all the buttons are generated in the loop, i do not know how to call one button elsewhere in the code.
Private Sub random2_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim i As Integer
I had created another thread asking how to create OvalShapes during runtime... Ok, so I have that covered, but what I need to know how to add properties to these OvalShapes individually. The OvalShapes are stored in the List(Of OvalShapes) if I create a loop from 0 to the length of the list it modifies all the OvalShapes with the same propertiesWhat Im trying to do is make like 5-10 balls collide, this is why I need these properties to be individual to each OvalShape.
I have made a program wherein you the labels are dynamically created with a press of a button. if you press on the label, the label would then change color from white to blue. my problem is that how will you make the backcolor of the label change when the button3 is pressed.
here are the codes. placed the whole thing since I dunno if you guys would understand what I mean.
[code]...
PS here is the link to what my program looks like. link to my program . the button3 in the image is Reserve Seat.
I wanted to make an executable file from my program. I already know that compiling your project creates an executable, but I wanted to know how to make an exe with my program.
i am creating check box's dynamically and assigning them names like "chk_1" and "chk_2".now if later in my code i want to check if they have been checked how can i do that.if i do something like if chk_1.checked is True then i am getting error that chk_1 is not declared.Which is true.i am using VB.net 2.0 i can post my code if needed.
I am working on a simple windows app that will take our TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider Key and IV from a file and use it to Encrypt and Decrypt strings, etc...This works great and has for years in a utility program, but I want an easy app that can read the Key and IV...following format in the txt file:
And then create the Encryption Pair...Currently I have the following
clientDESCryptoServiceProvider = New _ TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider clientDESCryptoServiceProvider.Key = New Byte() {111, 222, 333,...} clientDESCryptoServiceProvider.IV = New Byte() {1,2,3,...}
Is there any way to pull the {111,222,333,...} and {1,2,3,...} from a text file and create the Byte() that is required?I can read the info from the text file, but cannot seem to create the right format for generating the Byte()?
I am reading data from an excel spreadsheet and i want to create several arrays to save the data in (according to how many rows of data i have which is an unknow untill i actually read the sheet).
I already have a menutoolstrip and i want to add the menuItem dynamically.I am able to add the first menuItem however, i have no idea how to add submenu.
I currently have this code to create an asp table [code]where PH is my placeholder for the table to appear in.This code creates a 1 celled table how do i get it to create multiple rows and cells?
I am having problems creating charts dynamically, using MSCharts. If I drag a chart control into a form, and then use this, I have no problems. However, if I change the code and try to create the chart dynamically, then I just get a blank white rectangle, and no graph, axis or anything.I am trying to create the graph once a user clicks a button. Here is the code I am using.
Public Class Form1 Dim Chart2 As New System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Charting.Chart Private Sub Button4_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button4.Click
I wrote a function that copies the properties of one class to another so make a copy of an object. So something like
MyObject myObject = myOtherObject.MyCustomCopy(myObject) where myObject and myOtherObject are of the same type. I do it by bascually doing myObject.prop1 = myOtherObject.prop1
[code]....
I am pretty sure in the past I used a .NET object that automaticaly did this, by reflection I guess, but can't remember it ... or an I imagining that such a method exists?
to create excel workbook dynamically where data will be input and manipulated by user. i want graph as well to be created using the data i manipulated and entered.i want as many as work sheets to be added in workbook once it is created.
I would like to dynamically create an object (in my case a thread) and then be able reference that object. Simplistically put, I would like to read from a text file and then process each item using a thread (so that I don't have to wait for each item before starting the next). The problem is that I cannot think of a way to create a new thread dynamically ie. thread name so that I can then wait for all created threads before doing something else.
I am working on a project that requires me to read a table of items, and then display the items as button with a photo for a POS system. Any suggestions on how to implement this? This project is using .NET 3.5 and a SQL Compact 3.5 database as a data store.I am using windows forms over an MDI form.
