a designed a tetris game in visual basic 2005 but i keep getting the error message 'A startup form has not been specified.' everytime i start de bugging it does anyone know what the problem might be?

View 2 RepliesI can hide my startup form (or make it appear hidden) on startup. I can start my app on windows startup--through registry values--if the user checks a checkbox.
But if the app starts up on windows startup, I want the form to be hidden, so the program can just keep working without bothering anyone. If it starts up because the user started it, I want the form to be showing, because the user probably wants to change some settings or something.
Every time I modify something on a form (add or delete controls , modify their colors etc) , when I debug the program (with the Play button), I get a message saying: The file C:........MyForm.vb cannot be modified at this time .
Why is this happening? I have noticed that the only way to bypass this problem is to save before debugging , but that is not convenient because I don't want to save something that I haven't decided yet. One more thing that I have observed is that this only happens in projects that have been created with the Upgrade Wizard (from VB6). This never happens in new projects. Does anyone know why is this happening ?
While a fairly simple form it has had its problems. The latest is an error message (see below) that I do not understand and hence cannot correct. I have looked at the other postings, but did not see one that would apply.

well i successfully docked a perpixel alpha form with the main form(form1). but the perpixel alpha form always appears at the top left corner of the screen and when i move the main form the form(perpixel alpha form) inside it dosen't move it stays at the top left corner. I am using vb.net 2008 i have been using a mdi form which is the startup form for my prog. and i have a main menu on that form. now i would like to shift to tree view as my client has asked for it. whenever a node is selected i can select the form corresponding for that particular code. everything is fine till here. but when the form is loaded the tree view is coming on top of the form the tree view is docked in a pannel. now i have tried everything treemenu.sendtoback and the say the form to b called is taxtypemaster then taxtypemaster.bringtofront but still the tree view is coming over the form

View 1 RepliesI've developed program w/ VS 2005 .net 2.0.... the program works great on all my customers computers, except for one. Immediatedly whenever opening the program he recieves a clr20r3 error and the process terminates.
I compiled a version of the program that put a simple msgbox that displayed "I'm working right now" first thing in the sub that handles me.startup. The program doesn't even get that far. I've tryed repairing .net 2.0... and completely uninstalling 2.0 and reinstalling it.

I have a project in VSTO/VB using a BackgroundWorker that works fine. It is a form that calls for a web page of information. The web page can take a while, so I have the form calling with the BackgroundWorker.I then have an Excel Addin project that has added the BackgroundWorker project. When I call up the form from the Excel Addin project and use the BackgroundWorker to request the web page, it grabs the web page ok. But the work done upon completion, during the BackgroundWorker1_RunWorkerCompleted method, is resulting in an error message:

I have had to do this for my web app, since it is clearly much tidier than letting the program bomb out with it's ugly default error page. My custom error page just has the customer's logo and a brief message saying "Error has occurred. Please return to homepage"The trouble now is that I have no way of knowing what caused the error, when a customer reports it.
Is there a way to make the actual error message appear on this custom error page too?
I dragged and dropped a label control on my web form. But then whe I go to my VB .net code behind file, if I try and set a property on that label control, I am getting a "Declaration Expected" error message for the label I created.Yet if I do try and explicitly declare my label control, the compiler tells me that the label control is already declared.[code]

Using a splashscreen.
When the spashscreen is done, the main menu for the program appears.
The problem is that the main menu appears UNDER things already open on the desktop.
Always On Top could be the answer BUT if I do that, all sub-menus will be UNDER the main menu rather than stacked on top.

Firstly i have set set startup form as registration in properties =>Application after registration completed or saved i am displaying the Login form by hiding the registration form. and entering username and password it displays the Main form. Now the twist when i exit from application next time i started to run my project where i can check if their is entry in registration form it will directly goto login form.
