The SwfDotNet library seems to be a great library for crating swfs from code, in VB.NET.
Unfortunately it is poorly documented, and examples are scarce.
I would like to know how to add a transparent PNG to a SWF frame, lossless, or jpeg compressed.
I know it has something to do with DefineBitsJpeg3Tag, but I cant manage to make it work.
language: VB.Net Framework : .NET 2.0 i got a little problem with software deployment. I use Flash Active X control in my software for displaying animated pictures. I build the installer for my software and install to some computer. My software run perfectly on most computer which has the latest Flash player, but not worked on some PC even has the latest Flash player. I am thinking to include Flash library into my installer, so the user dont have to install the Flash player.
My question is how to make my software to use my own Flash library without accessing to the Flash player inside their computer, so my software can run perfectly without the user have to install Flash player. I want to make my software easier to use without asking the user to install Flash player.

I have the code for the confirmation code, but am having trouble creating something either at the end of the flash video or within the aspx page to trigger this message.
View 1 RepliesI've added reference to Flash object. Then dragged AxMacromediaFlash to form. [renamed Flash1]. Even after setting Flash1.Movie="file.swf".
it doesn't start playing ! I tried, loadMovie,Play,MovieData etc etc.. nothing works. There's no error, no warning, nothing. That Flash object remains plain white. am not using try catch too. I'm on Vista Home Premium 32bit, Flash player 10, Flash ActiveX version 10. Tried re-installing player, activeX. its just not working! : any known issues am ignoring here? and same file works fine if I drag it in IE. and if I check Flash1's state, it shows playing.
I've tried adding a splash screen ]...to one of my applications and after exploring a while I somehow managed to get it working what bugs me now is that my splash screen is in fact a image inside a picture box and the form always shows the control color behind so what I tried is adding the form color to the transparency key this worked, somehow now, I use a png image that has some transparent effect also what I've noticed is that where I would want to show the transparent effect from the image the transparent color that is set in the forum shows below is the image to get my point of view:

I have a class library called Encrypt.dll that I added to my project (that class encrypts strings..). I have a problem that when I drag the app out of the Release folder, it crashes, giving me this error:Could not load file or assembly 'Encryption_Class, Version=1.0.0.0...' or one of its dependencies. Both methods didn't work.

View 9 RepliesI have a class library in VB.NET that does a NET-envelope for an USB device driver.There is only one function of that driver that I could not envelope in a traditional class, but I had to put it in a Windows Service as described here:Sharing a class property (field) between applications.The Windows Service works fine, but I have now two projects for my NET-envelope: the one with the class library, the second with the windows service and I do not like the idea to maintain two distinct projects for the same driver.Is it a good practice (or even if possible) to add a windows service class to a normal class library (without creating its own project as described in the vb tutorial)?I know, in any case I should create a separate setup only for the windows service, but in this way I could have together all the classes that envelope my usb device driver in only one project.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to draw a semi-transparent layer over my entire form when certain events occur, with a prompt in front of this semi-transparent layer (similar to the effect in Windows Vista/7 with UAC enabled)At first I was trying to use a custom semi-transparent panel, but this didn't seem to work at all. As such I'm now trying to use a child form within the form using the opacity property on the form. However, when this semi-transparent form is added to the controls of the main form and displayed, it loses it's transparency.I've got a hacky work around at the moment where the semi-transparent layer isn't actually a component within the main form, and the transparency works then, but obviously this isn't ideal and could potentially cause various issues further down the line.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to create a simple Word doc that when the user presses the button it takes the information in the boxes and tosses it into a template style paragraph. But my issue is that I have two combo list boxes as seen in the picture. I want to have two values in the drop down list as seen in the labels next to them but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in Word 2007. In Visual Studio this is much easier but I am work and need to snap this out for the folks at work. Is there an option that I can choose in the properties where I type in the values for each drop down or do I have to add them in at run time?

View 7 RepliesI'm adding labels at runtime to my form with a tag. Let's say I have 3 labels with the tags, "1", "2" and "3". I'm adding the tags by counting the labels + 1. When I remove a label with tag "2" from the form there are only 2 left. When I add a new label it will add a new tag "3", but that one already exist. So my "solution" isn't a very good one Although tag "2" is free, I want to give it "4". Any thoughts on how to code this properly?

The situation:Ok I am using visual basic 2008, I currently have a form on it with a web browser, a button and a textbox. What I am trying to achieve is when a value is entered into the textbox, and the button is pressed, a variable within a flash game is changed. I have seen many ways of doing this if the flash game is standalone, that looks relatively easy. What I don't understand is how can I target the flash game when it is within a web browser. I know the varibale I wish to change, I am just not aware of how I can alter this with Visual basic 2008.
If someone could please spend the time writing some steps for how I could achieve this I would be grateful.They may need to be relatively dumbed down, because like I said I am still a novice. Something along the lines of "double click the button and enter this code..." would be great.
