Nov 27, 2009I'm trying to use the DHCP API (using the references on pinvoke.net) to retrieve a computer's MAC address when given the IP address but I can't get the code to work. I've run all the C# code on pinvoke.net through the C#-to-VB converter but I'm stuck now.
Here's what I have so far. The value of res is always 5 (should be 0). Thing is, I can't find any documentation on what the return codes mean

I had the idea of writing a program that would access this feed and send it to another computer (laptop) via my network. That way I would be able to watch TV from anywhere that my network spans. So I have three questions.

2: How would I go about access the feed?
3: How would I send it over the network?
My original thought was doing it in Flash, but I'm not very good at Flash so I wanted to do it in VB.Net.

Nov 29, 2010Well now i have an issue which is pointing in the use of "path's" physical and network.I have a SQL server on a Server machine and i have a desktop machine used as client.I'm runing from my client machine a stored procedure in order to add a streaming data base.But also before i run this procedure i run another one which prepare the desired "path", this procedure takes:

in order to run the first procedure i have to turn myPath in each physical name:
myPath="DriveLetter:PublicWorkFilesSQL"
Now my Issue is how i will have the physical path, which is build it on the server and which it's from very difficult (to imposible) to know it? Basically i need a function which will return me the physical path, which the implementation it's not knowing to me. My developing environment is vb.net 2010?

May 26, 2009I have a SQL Server Data Base that I use to keep all my contact information so that I have it in one central location and can easily add more data to it. I want to be able to do two things:
1. Update the Windows Address Book or Outlook Express or Outlook directly from an application on my PC. Add, delete and update contacts and all contact data. Eventually, I would also like to be able to change the options if possible.
2. Update contacts in Blackberry devices directly from a PC application. Again, Add, Delete and Update contacts and all contact data. Currently, I have two Blackberry 9000 Bolds, but eventually I do not want to be limited to only this model, and I will also want to be able to set options on Blackberry devices.
Currently, I update the Windows Address Book with a CSV file created from my Data Base Application and import it using Outlook Express Import. However, Outlook Express will not import or export all fields. For example: Spouse, Birthday, IPAddress, Anniversary and more. I know that these fileds can be updated because the Blackberry Desktop Manager can do it.
It is a pain to have to first Sync Outlook Express with my Data Base and then Sync the Blackberry with Outlook Express. Especially when all fields are not updateable via CSV and the Blackberry Desktop Manager does not map all Outlook Express fields. However, it does map more fields than what are avaliable via CSV which is how I know that it is possible to update more fields in the Windows Address Book.
I use Visual Studio 2005 soon to be 2008 (maybe ) on Windows XP SP 3, 3.0 Ghz intel Pentium IV, and I do know that there is a Blackberry plug-in for VS which I have downloaded but it is not installed (no experience with it nor do I know what it might do to VS).

Feb 13, 2010I am creating a Windows Application in VB.Net 2.0. The application is an FTP transfer application, where I need to display 2 panes. On the first pane, I need to display the client folder structure and on the other pane, I need to display the remote FTP server. Most of the functionality is complete, but I am stuck on 2 places.
1. I need to display a combo box on top, similar to the one we have for Windows Explorer Address bar (where we can see My Computer, Desktop, Network Places, Drives, etc.). I have searched a lot but could not find something matching my requirement other than a few 3rd party controls which I need to purchase (I am looking for something open-source).
2. I am using ListView Control to display the files list. I need to show icons for "My Computer", Network Places and desktop on the List View, which I am not able to do. Is there any way I can display these Icons and make them work exactly the way Windows Explorer does?

I can have up to three instances of the software running using three scheduled tasks, and three logged in users. Currently I am using a separate program running on two additional servers to make sure these two additional users are logged in, the scheduled task will not run if the user is not logged in. This separate program uses a saved Remote Desktop Session to make sure the users are logged in.
