i have a group of pictureboxes, each with their own id names. the names are in integer form, 8 letters long, to represent thier inner values. The number of possibilities are 12.Each uses 8 of the 12 digits. ( Yes, this is about music scales.) if 3 notes played are put into a textbox, there are multiple possibilities of which scale it could be. My goal is to get the entire group of possibilities to show, without having to code each one out seperately. Each scale is set in its own picturebox. Notes played, or questioned are placed in textbox1. the notes A,C,D, for instance, would show CMaj scale, FMaj scale, GMaj scale, ect. how would I produce all these off one textbox?
I am making a checkers program and I am in the phase of starting to evaluate jumps. This is what I currently have so far and allow me to fill you in a bit before you look at the code. Checker pieces are white/green. Each checker is created as a label at runtime and in the tag property a struct is held that possesses all of the information reguarding current and previous checker state.
The problem I am having is that as this sub runs each opposing checker is evaluated for jump capabilites which is all fine and dandy. It is even alright that currently if a jump is executed that the same side will continue to evaluate through the sub looking for additional jumps and if they are found they will be made because that is how it is currently coded. What I am trying to do is find a way to evaluate each piece that can jump. So if checker1 can only make one jump and checker2 can make a triple jump checker2 needs to be the guy making the jump and I honestly don't know how do start that. I am forseeing global vars being created to hold information or even a structure and taking the one that changes the most. If two checkers can only make 1 jump then I will rand the one that gets to jump (not looking to win any awards for AI here). Anyhow, any suggestions on how to start this, at least saving the information throughout the sub even if it is called recursively?
Just started a new project and was kind of bummed out that instead of creating interface Im forced to spend quite large amount of time creating objects, INSERTs,UPDATEs.. that kind of thing. Mainly because it's booring. Anyway, I was wondering if there are tools in VS2010 for visual basic that would allow someone to generate clases and INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE stored procedures based on database structure OR creat INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE procedures and database structure based on class structure.

I'm curious if it is possible to hide a group of text boxes from view in a form until a particular condition is met, and to have a custom set of text boxes for that condition. To give an example; I want radio buttons offering choices for a manner of searching records, the user selects one and then a specific set of text boxes are displayed for the user to utilize, if a different option is chosen a different set of text boxes will be shown. Is this something that can be done?
The below function (is supposed to) lists all groups on the local machine.Why does the "everyone" group not show up ?If I change directory permissions as user, I see the "everyone" group, so it must be there, somewhere.

I'm trying to match up a specific group name and see if it exists for the currently logged in user using Active Directory roles. If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. The remarked area works fine when I'm accessing a specific table. I've successfully inserted the products_model field into the combobox too. The datagridview does show the table names in the db using the SHOW TABLES sql statment, but I'm not understanding how to get this info into the combobox instead.

I need to disable every control on my Form so that the user can not click or press any key that will change values of listboxes and other controls on the form. I need to be able to lock the whole Form like this because as part of the project I have to print the form 3times with 3 different colors and the only way I've been able to get it to work is with a timer. So for about 3 seconds the form is changing colors and printing itself, so in between that time the user could accidantely click something and change a value on the form when all three prints should be of the same form, only difference is in the color.I can't use disable as that will make all the controls look faded and messed up, I need a clean way to prevent anything from being changed.

i am still new to VB, and need a little help. We have an application that runs on what I believe is VB2005. I am able to open the main .dll in VB2010, and can modify the forms, etc, and they will show the changes in the applications, but is there any way to change the current forms to the nicer looking forms in VB 2010? I guess I could just rebuild the entire .dll in the new version, but was hoping not to have to do that.
i have a form with textboxes such as First name, surname, phone number in and each row has an auto number assigned to it. that auto number is the customers reference number. basically i want to be able to enter a reference number into a text box and when a button is clicked i want to extract all the name and phone number from the database and put them into the relevant text boxes. how would i go about doing this?
I have an application with roughly a dozen forms and I am attempting to change the font property for each form when a button is clicked on the main form.I have found the my.forms namespace and I am able to change the font there.
