Get The Hardware Info Of Server (similar To Win32 For Individual Computer)?
Oct 25, 2008
Up to now, my programs are installed in individual computers, and I use the data collected using Win32 classes (such as bios, board, and processor) to lock my program to those computers to avoid piracy. However, I am currently preparing two programs that will be installed in servers and accessed by more client computers. My problem is that I once read some ways of doing the same thing with server (accessing the hardware info of the server), but I simply can't find it again in my archive. My idea is simply to lock the program to the hardware info of the server computer, so wherever the person runs the program, it will be first checked the server hardware info, if it matches, only then, it will run. My client server is Windows Server 2003, and I am programming with VB2k5.
I can't seem to find any answers that work. Here's the setup:
Info class: Public Class ProductStageInfo
[Code]...
maybe I just don't understand the whole collection/index/thing. All the examples I've found are regarding single dimension collections - 'how to find name within this collection', and the responses use strings to search through them, but somehow the Info class is being treated differently, and I'm not sure how to translate this..
using vb 2010 to find the fingerprint or digital ID of individual parts of a computer, specifically the motherboard? I have no idea where to begin and everything I can find on the net is written for C#.
Basically I'm adding a registration feature into my program, or a similar thing to that. So, when you purchase you can install up to 3 copies (for example), but not more.To do this, I need to know some kind of information that is unique to each computer (to store in my database online), I thought of the name of the computer, but that isn't unique, obviously.
I made a simple TCP server (I've found the example on the web) in VB to receive data from about 40 TCP clients. The clients are not synchronized but sends data about every 18 minutes; the problem is sometimes several clients sends data at the same moment, so I can't receive data.I also made a second program that reads the data (server program writes data on a file, read from the second program) scheduled.
My question is this: I've seen on the web examples about Multithreaded Server Socket Program, so I suppose this could manage my 40 clients (but now the clients are syncronized and send data at the same time in client mode) or is better get data (I have a central client that asks data to all 40 devices in server mode)?
Second question: can I make a single program where I run both TCP client and TCP server at the same time?
I was scripting a very basic process manager, with a ListView component, and it was working fine for many days, up until now. Here is the code for getting processes:
Dim Process As New Process() Dim Count As Integer = 0 ListView1.Items.Clear()[code].....
The line of code where I put "*WIN32 EXCEPTION LINE* keeps running into an error(Win32 Exception was unhandled; Access is denied). Here is the full error description:
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception was unhandled ErrorCode=-2147467259 Message=Access is denied[code]....
As I said before, this had been working for several days, up until now.
I know I can pull the amount of memory by using My.Computer.Info.TotalPhysicalMemory but I would like it to show like it does under My Computer properties. What do I need to do this?
I have a problem where I am running a Console App to obtain some computer information on a pc. The pc has the following specs:
Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002 Service Pack 3 2 GB RAM .NET Framework 3.5
The script runs fine on my Vista Ultimate PC. However, my friend runs it on his pc and nothing is written to the file. The directory and the file are being created, but nothing is in the file. Is there something that I am missing about XP Media Center Edition?
Here is the code: Dim cFile As String = "C:System InformationsystemInfo.txt" Dim objWriter As New System.IO.StreamWriter(cFile, False) Try Dim mObjOS As ManagementObjectSearcher = New ManagementObjectSearcher("SELECT * FROM Win32_OperatingSystem") Dim mObjCS As ManagementObjectSearcher = New ManagementObjectSearcher("SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystem") [Code] .....
Basically what I want to do is, say after I've filled my datatable(whichever fill method i used[dataadapter.fill; or datatable.load(reader)]), now the datatable has the fields i've selected albeit, "Select * from" or "Select field1, field3 from" - either way the table now has my fields. Later incode when i'm ready to access them, say "dt.rows(x)(" OR "dt.rows(x)!", right here I would like intelisense to show me the available fields for that table. I already have my clsDataTable that inherits DataTable.
So I have a code atm that has 2 combo boxes, one to select the make, then it will enable the model, I have 3 model choices, here's code: [code] Once I have selected my model of the car, it takes me to that specific form with a picture of that model, I then want to display individual parts, with individual prices that will add up in a text box above.
Are there any good tutorials/links I can work through. I want to make my pc a file server or an ftp server through vb.net. How would I go about doing it?
writing user info such as user, computer name, date, and time to an acces database using a button click event. Then use a query to check if the user has accepted the aggreement. If the user has accepted the aggreement then call a vb.exe that display the aggrement. I have a login script that runs the vb.exe and uses a button click that records the user info to a csv file, but if the user has already agreed to the policies I do not want it run again.
how to read the registry and get all SQL server instances and databases installed and assign them to an array so I can then into the info into a datagridview?
I need to Encrypt my license info and put in the Sqlserver, while user login I need to decrypt the license info and need to check the license. Is there any strong Encryption is available in .net framework 4?
get a list of printer's (name, port, model) from a computer over the network. I know how to list my own, but it's from querying the Win32_printer object on my machine, I need to be able to do something similar on a remote machine.
I am wanting to create a logon similar to the Windows Live logon, so in other words. user has frmLogon and is located in Australia. The user enters his/her details and then the program connects to a server in the United States and checks the Username and Password to make sure it is correct if it is correct it allows the user to logon and move to the next stage, if it is wrong it will give him an error message. I am wondering if anyone has a tutorial or source code laying around that I can rip apart and see how it works. I want to put the database on my server and connect to it from my desktop using the logon form.
How do I know where the other end of the NetworkStream from the 'server' computer? I have been looking at the following code that comes from a post out here, and am wondering where I can tell where I am going to send back to(URL/port)?
Private Sub DoListen() Dim incomingClient As System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient Do
I've created a Http Server in VB.net.I've used the same "template", I guess you could say, for every project requiring an Http Server (quite a few recently). The problem is, this one I'm working with now requires that the computers on the LAN be able to connect to it. I can access the server directly from my computer though using: [code]Now I get an error every time when it tries to apply the prefixes: I've checked all the ports that are listening and 8002 is still open...
I do have my program running in a network. I have set one main computer as server and installed database system too. My other clients create transaction and saves it to database. Now I need to add date and time of server too in that record
What I tried was using My.Computer.Network.DownloadFile(), and created a shared folder in the other computer to do downloading stuff. But, in fact I didn't know how to fill the path to the other computer, the error was: "...path not supported..."
How about this: ServerName1 = cmbServerName1.Text.Trim() database = cmbDataBase1.Text
I have the following function to find a SQL Server instance. It works fine on local computer. Would you please tell me how to use this function to check an instance on other computer on a Local Area Network? I am using VS 2008 (.NET Framework 3.5) and SQL Server Express 2005.
Private Function MyInstanceFound(ByVal MyInstanceName As String) As Boolean Dim InstanceFound As Boolean = False Dim MC As ManagedComputer = New ManagedComputer()
