Writing User Info Such As User, Computer Name, Date, And Time To An Acces Database?
Sep 25, 2009
writing user info such as user, computer name, date, and time to an acces database using a button click event. Then use a query to check if the user has accepted the aggreement. If the user has accepted the aggreement then call a vb.exe that display the aggrement. I have a login script that runs the vb.exe and uses a button click that records the user info to a csv file, but if the user has already agreed to the policies I do not want it run again.
to trace the days of a program installed in user's computer. However, the user can changes the system time of his computer to a advancing date. How can I get a SNTP time from internet to solve this problem?
I have an ASP.NET application with a SQL Server back end. I am storing all my dates in UTC format and doing the appropriate conversions to the local time zone of the browser viewing it. One of the pages asks for a start date and end date (no times).
I am taking the start date and setting the time to 00:00:00 hours (midnight) and I'm taking the End time and adding a time of 23:59:59, so that the date range covers the whole day. Now what I'm trying to do is do a SQL query to do a search for records in this date range. The problem is, the data in SQL is in UTC time and the user is typing their dates and times in their local date and times. My quickest solution was to convert the date and time to UTC, then search the records. However, by doing this, I am to believe ASP.NET converts the given time and date to UTC based on the server time zone. How can I convert a date and time to UTC time based on the time zone of the user?
got a new problem while trying to add a new user into the database. After i've submitted all the data i get an error message saying "Conversion failed when converting the varchar value "Aron" to data type int" to be honest, im totally stumped as to what this could meen, does it meen its trying to convert string type data to an integer? Anyway heres the code im using
im trying to add a new user login to my database through my program, and i've got the procedure worked out, i just dont know how to retrieve the inputted data.
Basically i've got three text boxes that ask for "Name" "Password" "Phone Extension" but how would i work them into his statement?
CreateLogin.CommandText = ("INSERT INTO Users (UserID, Password, Phone) Values How would i follow up after "Values"??
I have been trying to solve this for 2 days now, every text book I own and google have been well and truely exhausted and I am still no closer to solving my problems.I have a login facility reading in user info from a main user file. This takes all info into a temp array and then splits usernames into a username file, passwords into a password file and a current score in a score file.
I have the login working fine and everything else in my program works as intended but touching up cosmetic aspects I want to add a Message box after login to say hello and display current score. This works great for the first name in the user file i.e - after login User1 welcome to the game. Your current score is 45 As intended. But the problem arises with any other users, my message comes out as
User2 welcome to the game. Your current score is 55 I do not understand where the random new lines are coming from. I have tried assigning the message as a variable and removing new line using
I have a program that allows a user to select a program to run at a certain time for a specific amount of time all choosen by the user. Everything works with the exception of if my program has launched the other program, my program become non-responsive. Meaning I am not able to look at that window again. Not that one really needs too, because when time is up my program closes the program it opened, then closes itself. I just want to be able to see my program when the other program is running. how to do this and perhaps drop me some links, that would be wonderful. This is what I have coded, but like I stated there are no code errors.
in my project, when a new user register online on my website, then my project create a directory on server with the user name "abc" and copy a myDB.mdb file in it.this .mdb file contains predefined 2 tables.now my question is :1 is it possible to connect and use with Dataset.xsd in this task.2 how each user read and write data with there own myDB.mdb file
I created an executable file of an application done in VB Express 2010 which connects to a Access 2010 database. When installling the executable file at one of the user's computer, the file is installed correctly, but it fail's when trying to connect to the database. It says that Microsoft Dataengine cannot open the database. The user's computer doesn't have Access installed, does it need to be installed? or can I install a framework or application to avoid installing Access at the user's computer?
I am using a vb windows application I need to allow a user to enter their ID num in a text box and it need to automatically populate their date of birth
I am trying to write a program that shows the user the current system time and date using progress bars in VB 08 Express but don't know how to start it, I am having trouble with getting the program to refresh the minutes and seconds progress bars
I have a oracle database. I use the OracleDataAdapter(Oracle.DataAccess.dll) for select, update, insert, delete operations. I don't set any (table) locks on my own(I only start a transaction). I have a oracle table named "test" with the entry "test1".
Now my question: Can Person A read the entry "test1" while Person B is updating/deleting the entry at the exact same time? What happens in the worst case? An old match/empty match or can it cause any kind of exception/error(e.g. "TableLocked-Exception")?
I thought I postet this yesterday but I can't find my thread so if this is a duplicate please point me at the original one. Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.
I'm designing a PC-based app that has a little local database. I'm using VB.NET with SQL Server Compact Edition. The user will only ever have access to one database file, because it's all about storing a user specific data. However I'm thinking of the situation where there could be multiple users that access the PC, each with their own Windows account. So ideally I'd need separate database files for each User.
I'm not sure how to implement this. I was hoping to deploy the 'empty' database as a ClickOnce deployment, but I can't see how I can have a database per user doing this. Also I'm not sure where to store the database files anyway. perhaps in MyDocuments for each user? Or perhaps I need to stick to just one database, but add a 'User' column into every table, so it can hold data for every user. I didn't want to do this though - because I wanted to keep the nice separation between the data offered by physically separate files.
I am trying to read the pc system information so that I can retrieve the time and date format. My code below: Dim Info As System.Globalization.DateTimeFormatInfo Info = System.Globalization.CultureInfo.CurrentUICulture.DateTimeFormat Debug.WriteLine(Info.LongDatePattern) Retruns in debug: "dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy"
So I have 2 questions; 1) Why is there, a dd after the MMMM. 2) My company has small franchise branch offices round the world - France, USA, etc. What I am trying to do is get the date format so I can decide what country I am in - then when I print out the date on my order labels I can change the date format to suit Americans or Europeans etc.
I'm writing a program in VB.Net and loading the info into a SQL database. Debugging it works fine on my machine that I am programming it on, it connects to the database and runs through all the info perfectly. However trying to get it to run on another machine it will not connect to the database. I realize the reason for this is the connection string, it's looking specifically at the file directory for the database. How do I change this so that it will function on any machine. The program is only intended to run on one machine at a time and not over the internet.
I'm developing an application that controls the rest of the machines inside a local network and when i try to send a command to Shutdown remotely a pc in this LAN, i get the error Acces Denied, i've changed the Security Policies of that machine por testing purpose at:[code]Changed to this option "Classic - local users authenticate as themselves" as i read in other posts. But still getting the same error, i dont know what's wrong... all OS on my LAN are Windows XP Pro Sp2, and all of them boot Administrative user without entering any password.
I am trying to ask the user the add personaly information in the text boxes. Then based on what the user clicks on the radio button precourse, the application will deterimine what the costs will be for the participant. Here is my code. I am not getting error messages in the objPreCurse or objParticpant class, but in the form on line 47-55 where the If and then statements appear.
Option Strict On Public Class Form1 Private Sub radNetwork_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles radNetwork.CheckedChanged End Sub Private Sub lblTitle_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles lblTitle.Click [Code] .....
I have a form in my application, and when I logIn, I make a query to SELECT the username, the password and the level of username. "SELECT username, password, level FROM TLogin WHERE [username] = @username and [password] = @password and [level] = @level" So, when I logIn, I go to a form called "Options", I would like to know how to only show the information about the user that I've loggedIn ?

I am working on a media player, and I would like to setup a local playlist feature. I am using a single ListBox and its "Display-" and "Value-Member" properties. The display is the song's Artist and Name, and the value is the song's file path (i.e 'C:UsersUSERMusicetc.').To write the file path to the .txt file, I believe I can use the following code:[code]
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP. At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service. The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.
im trying to edit a code so that i can display user info in a listview rather than a listbox because listview has some options i want to use , i have 2 errors one in Public Sub removeClient and one in Private Sub AddClientToListview i would be very greatful if some could give a helping hand to resolve these errors
