Login Facility Reading In User Info From A Main User File?

I have been trying to solve this for 2 days now, every text book I own and google have been well and truely exhausted and I am still no closer to solving my problems.I have a login facility reading in user info from a main user file. This takes all info into a temp array and then splits usernames into a username file, passwords into a password file and a current score in a score file.
I have the login working fine and everything else in my program works as intended but touching up cosmetic aspects I want to add a Message box after login to say hello and display current score. This works great for the first name in the user file i.e - after login User1 welcome to the game. Your current score is 45 As intended.But the problem arises with any other users, my message comes out as
User2 welcome to the game. Your current score is 55 I do not understand where the random new lines are coming from. I have tried assigning the message as a variable and removing new line using

I have a form in my application, and when I logIn, I make a query to SELECT the username, the password and the level of username.
"SELECT username, password, level FROM TLogin WHERE [username] = @username and [password] = @password and [level] = @level"
So, when I logIn, I go to a form called "Options", I would like to know how to only show the information about the user that I've loggedIn ?

I need to convert a large VB6 app to vb.net which does a lot of database work and produces a Crystal Report. The initial form is simple a login form which validates the user. I am trying to use a datareader to retrieve the user's login info but it won't compile on the statement where I'm trying to get the Connection String from the app.config file. It complains that the ConfigurationManager is not declared on the dim statement. Where and how do I declare the ConfigurationManager? I thought it was just pointing to the app.config file but apparently that is not correct. [Code]

At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service. The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.

writing user info such as user, computer name, date, and time to an acces database using a button click event. Then use a query to check if the user has accepted the aggreement. If the user has accepted the aggreement then call a vb.exe that display the aggrement. I have a login script that runs the vb.exe and uses a button click that records the user info to a csv file, but if the user has already agreed to the policies I do not want it run again.

im trying to do where the main form is a login form if the USer and password matches that in the code it goes to the main screen if it doesent it launches a form saying this user and or password is incorrect and when you click ok it closes that message window as well as the login form stop the program from launching is has to match the user and password from the text on text box one and masked textbox 1.

Above is my connection string, The programs runs up until sqlConn.Open() and then i get the same error, using no UID and Pass, or using a uid and pass.

I have the SQL Servers authentication se to Windows Authentication and SQL Authentication. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005.

i am having a console application. I am trying to connect to a sql server.
my connection string: Data Source=<Some server>;Initial Catalog=<some database>;Trusted_Connection=True.
when i am executing on my local machine it runs successfully. But when i am trying to run it on a server it is giving me the following error:
Login failed for user ' '. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
do i have to change my connection string? if so what it should be?

In my application I have a several type of user could be log in. My purpose is to have a restriction with other menu to show on or off. In php I used a session to handle that user id. In vb.net how can assign user id and retrieve anytime I need it in every user that has been logged in, so that I can check the user type and do some action.

I have a login control in my asp.net webform i uses the roles manager...i have two roles admin and vendors i want when user enter username and password in login control then on login button click event it validates either the user is admin or vendors if vendor is admin then it will redirect to default.aspx other wise stay on login page with error. ...how to do this using vb.net ?

Can I safely move ReferencePath information from a .vbproj.user (or .csproj.user) file into the corresponding project file? Hi, I've created a login screen for my application and defined the username and password using the following code
If UsenameBox.Text = "username" and PasswordBox.Text = "password" Then

Main.Show()
It works great however, I need the user to be able to set their own password using a registration form with the details being stored in a xml file. There are no security concerns with the password being stored in a text file as it's a mock login screen.

im trying to add a new user login to my database through my program, and i've got the procedure worked out, i just dont know how to retrieve the inputted data.
Basically i've got three text boxes that ask for "Name" "Password" "Phone Extension" but how would i work them into his statement?

I am trying to ask the user the add personaly information in the text boxes. Then based on what the user clicks on the radio button precourse, the application will deterimine what the costs will be for the participant. Here is my code. My app works fine on the development machine and 3 other machines. However, some machines just show the main login box and then fail to show the main screen. There is no error message. I installed VS 2008 express on on of such machines and when i compile the project, the following errors appear:

I'm trying to make a main menu which accepts user input and then checks inputted password for validity against passwords I hardcoded into an array. Firstly, in the for loop, only the first password index is being checked. I'd like the inputted password to be checked against EACH password inside the ValidPasswords() array.
Second, My for loop isn't doing what I want it to do. I'd like to give the user 3 chances to enter a password... If he/she exceeds 3, it tells them they've tried 3 times and exits the form. Right now, it just loops 3 times and exits without giving the user a chance to try again. If I put a return statement in, it just keeps returning and doesn't loop 3 times.
