How to get the user/owner name of a process in vb.net?The reason I need it is because I developed an application, which I will put on the winnt enviroment, I want to allow multiple instance.but only allow one single instance per user.I am using Application.Run(MyMainForm) to start my application
I'm fairly new to vb.net and trying to get information for a project at work! Basically I can list all the applications running on a machine, I cannot however retrieve the details of the user running it! At the moment I'm using the following code after importing System.ServiceProcess and System.Diagnostics.Process:
Public Sub GetProcess() Dim pr As Process A = 0 For Each pr In Process.GetProcesses(System.Environment.MachineNam e) ReDim Preserve arrProcess(A) arrProcess(A) = New String() {pr.ProcessName.ToString, Process.GetCurrentProcess.PrivateMemorySize64} A = A + 1 Next End Sub
I have tried using pr.StartInfo.UserName but that just returns the username of the person logged onto the machine.
I placed this checkbox named owner on my form. When i build the project i got the error as Quote: 'owner' conflicts with property 'owner' in the base class 'Form' and should be declared 'Shadows'
I have a reportviewer that I am rendering as a pdf into an in memory byte array. What I need to do is apply an owner and user password for the pdf. I have downloaded the adobe sdk and have scoured the Internet for examples to do this to no avail. with a VB.NET example that will apply the owner and user password for the pdf.
I have written a windows service that is meant to launch a notepad when a specific action happens. The problem i have is that even though the service launches notepad, the actual notepad it self is NOT visible. I know that it has been launced because i can see the process in the task manager. By the way the process is listed as a SYSTEM process rather than a process under my user name (i believe that is because my process is a "LocalSystem" one).
I thought I postet this yesterday but I can't find my thread so if this is a duplicate please point me at the original one. Background: I need to create a user account and Modify it's registry before the user logs on the first time. Creating the account is done by using the Winnt provider (works great). To create the profile I'm trying to use Process.start to launch a process as the newly created user. With the use of loaduserprofile property the users profile gets created and i can do my regwrites without problem.
I am using Process.GetProcessByName to find how many sessions have a specific program running in it and to get the user's name associated with that process. The Process.SessionId is correct but the Process.StartInfo.UserName property is always empty. Is there another way to get a user's name that is associated with a specific process?
I'm writing a program that checks processes (when they start), and kills any processes that aren't acceptable. My program is mostly done, but I only just ran into a problem: when I try to get the path (one of the criteria) of a process running under a different user, (MainModule.FileName) I get an exception:
System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception occurred ErrorCode=-2147467259 Message="Access is denied" NativeErrorCode=5 Source="System" [Code] .....
Now, the program doing the checking is running with complete administrator privileges, so I can pretty much wrangle any permission I need. How can I obtain the path of the process? (I can use WMI, by the way, I've already used it for another part of this).
I am writing an application that needs to be running all the time and I don't want the user to be able to close it. I don't want to hide the process from Task Manager. All I need is that when the user tries to terminate the process, he has to enter a password.
We have a stored procedure that executes in a long time so we decided to enclose it in a thread. Before executing the long stored procedure, the procedure should be locked so that only one user can execute the thread. However, I have noticed that a user can still execute twice. Here is the code. [code] The problem is when I tested the code by opening two browsers then simultaneously process, two records are being inserted into our lock table. The second user should not be able to process because the DoProcess is already locked.
In Windows Vista/7/2008/2008R2, is it at all possible to launch a process in a user's session from a service? Specifically, the local session would be most useful.Everything I've been reading seems to say this isn't possible, but I figured I'd ask here before giving up completely. My service signs on as Local System.
In fact, the process is being written into a library to be pulled in from other applications. However, how do I provide a way for a WinForm to subscribe to the process to update as the process gets executed? I've open this question from both VBA/VB6 and .Net because its part of the gamut for UI development. It's also worth mentioning that these are subroutines and not classes that are running the methods, so event raising appears to be out of the question.[code]
Currently use word automation to mail merge some documents and print etc. A stand alone PC manage this, which means that when the document gets sent to the print queue it always has an 'owner' of the name of the stand alone PC.
In explorer if you right click a file and select Security->Advanced it tells you the owner (the person who wrote the file or took ownership of it). How do I get this info from code?
I am trying to open a form by using "form3.ShowDialog(Me)". Here "Me" refer a child form of Project's MdiForm. When i try to get form3's owner it returning the Mdiform name. My code is as follow:
''' Code in my MdiFrom to open the first child form Dim ObjForm1 as Form1 ObjForm1.MdiParent = MdiParentForm
I'm currently working on a project in which at one point, the user may right click a button which brings up a contextMenuStrip. I am already able to find the owner accurately from that strip, and manipulate the button clicked as follows:
Dim myItem As ToolStripMenuItem = CType(sender, ToolStripMenuItem) Dim cms As ContextMenuStrip = CType(myItem.Owner, ContextMenuStrip) Dim buttonPressed As DataButton = DirectCast(cms.SourceControl, DataButton)
But now for the tricky part. Within this contextmenuStrip, I have a DropDown menu with multiple items in there. I would assume you would be able to work your way up the ladder doing casts like above in the manner of
Unfortunately, when I try to get the sourcecontrol from this menuStrip, it return Nothing. Any ideas on how I can get the button that was pressed from this toolStripMenuItem? My current code is as follows (in which the sourceControl is Nothing)
Dim myItem As ToolStripDropDownItem = CType(sender, ToolStripDropDownItem) Dim dropDown As ToolStripDropDownMenu = CType(myItem.Owner, ToolStripDropDownMenu) Dim menuItem As ToolStripMenuItem = CType(dropDown.OwnerItem, ToolStripMenuItem) Dim cms As ContextMenuStrip = CType(menuItem.Owner, ContextMenuStrip) Dim buttonPressed As DataButton = DirectCast(cms.SourceControl, DataButton)
how to go about doing what I did in that first method, but just working my way up from further down the ladder?
I have a Windows Service that needs to start other processes under a user context other than that used by the service. I've seen other posts related to this but have seen no resolutionI've tried many things and have been unsuccessful in starting the process from a Windows Service when a username, password is supplied. orking as it's a requirement of our system to do this and it worked fine until recently and only fails on Vista and Windows 7 (works on XP).
The following code is used to start the process. Dim P As New Process P.StartInfo.Domain = Domain
(VS 2008, VB, 3.5 framework) Files have my name in the Owner property of the file, I want the owner value to be blank. I want to create a VB app that will loop through each file and clear out the owner property value. About 40 folders with about 20,000 files. What is the best way to loop through folders, and update files? Can the owner property value be set to blank?
I have a ContextMenuStrip and a ListBox. I have the context menu connected to the listbox. The menu has two items, Select All and Deselect All. I want to select/deselect all the items in the listbox when a button is clicked. I have done this before for a CheckedListBox but cannot remember how.
ok here is the thing, in my application there is 2 forms, in the main one (not an MDI)it has some textboxes and a picture box, the other small form contains only a ser enters his search criteria in the textboxes in the main formand presses a button to show the results,t opens the second form and displays the results inthe listview(results are names of pictures).
I am trying to use Authorize.net's SIM payment gateway process and am using the base code provided on the developer site. The problem is I am using Master Pages with my site and the hidden field names are getting concatenated with the nested control IDs as an example:
The original code came from AutoItI just rewrote what was necessary for VB.NET and added the structures and throws. If successful the PID of the process started is returned, else an exception is thrown. No imports needed.
Just had a small doubt.Say i use something like this
vb Dim ownr as New Form1Dim Dlg as New Form2ownr.Showdlg.showdialog(ownr)
how should i call an public function of form1 in the form2 if form1 is owner of form2, and also if form1 is not the owner of form2 should i use FormName.FunctionName in both the cases.
I have a listbox which works perfectly fine in regular mode. I'm experimenting with the other modes which allow you to switch font.
As soon as I go to ownerdraw mode, either variable or fixed, it is blank when I try to add items to to it. It throws no error but just doesn't do anything. There has to be something else I have to do, to tell it how I want to display it. But I don't know what. I'm using version 2003 of .NET I'm using "Items.add" to add items.
I'm using this line to set font :
lbox.Font = New Font("Arial", 8.25, FontStyle.Bold, GraphicsUnit.Point, Nothing)
Then I'm setting it unbold later. Why is it working perfectly fine without owner draw? Granted it isn't changing the font but it's working fine. What do I have to do to make it work otherwise, so that I can change the font? It's pretty much a standard listbox, without many changes made to the properties.
I have created tooltips on a form from the toolbox and defined them as owner draw. I tied them to either a panel or a grid and they show up as black boxes the size that would contain the text that is assigned. If I had two areas next to each other, the text shows up. Neither the background or the forground color is black, so the black of the box is not from a color assignment. This has worked at one time and I do not know what changed.
