I am getting an IndexOutofRange exception when using a datatable. Here is the code: Dim DR As DataRow = DT.Select(String.Format(SelectString, Val1, Val2, Val3, Val4))(0)
The select should find a record to match - I used debug to verify the format string substitutions and there are matching values in a record in the datatable. So how can I determine the value of the index error?

I have a datagridview on a form that is bound to a table in a dataset from another class.I use a data adapter to .Fill a table in that dataset and the grid displays the data fine.Works fine.On my form I have a textbox the user can type in that will will pass a parameter to the storedprocedure used to fill this table. So on startup the textbox will have "%" in it. and then the user can type in "F%" and get everything that starts with an "F"
So when that textbox changes I launch an async refresh (.BeginInvoke) to do my refresh. The table gets populated with the reduced number of records (I check ds.table(0).rows.count and it is correct)
But the datagridview then starts throwing datagridview.dataerror events. "System.IndexOutofRangeException : Index # does not have a value".It looks like the dataset is getting filled correctly and not having any issues, but the datagrid is not liking this update. The index out of range error is so common that I'm not finding what I need through searches.
I'm trying to create a Server/Client Sync scenario for my application using Sync Services for ADO.NET specifically the LocalCache custom tool which sets the whole thing up for me.My server DB has 5 Tables, all of which are being synchronized to the client application, which now has a SQL Server Compact DB with the same schema as the server DB. I have a dataset with some custom queries that I use to connect my app with the local database.So far so good.However in my application when I try to fill one of my tables with the table adapter on my form (the default "fill" method) it gives me the following exception:No mapping exists from DbType Object to a known SqlDbType.
However, if I continue and do the fill again, IT WORKS without a problem.

It is possible to catch an exception and throw a new exception which wraps the first exception as an inner exception: [URL] Also, if I call a function and it throws a certain error, but I catch it, will the calling code's catch handler execute? If so, and it is of a higher exception type, is this not wrapping the exception? eg I can throw exception ex of type IndexOutOfRange, log it but rethrow, catch a higher up exception and do something, or I can throw a new exception and wrap an inner exception like:

We have fixed all the issues that caused compilation errors, and most of obvious issues in running, so now we have basically a program up and running. The exe is created from scratch in VB.NET, using a lot of functionality from the converted dll's (including GUI forms). I have a datagridview bound to a datatable setting its datasource property to the datatable. I would like to have a child form that contains a list of columns associated with the datatable that contains a checkbox that will allow the user to hide and show the columns ( I do not know the best control to use here) (I assume this is the easy part as All i need to do is loop through each of the datatable's columns to get the column name)
now I would like save these visible columns on some event like form_closing so that the next time the user opens the form up it will remember the settings
I came across a problem with using a BindingSource as my DataGridViews.DataSource. Whenever I applied a filter to a column in the BindingSource and the user makes changes that don't match the column filter the DataGridViewRows would automatically disappear. A similar thing would happen when applying a Sort to a column. If the user made any changes the DridGirdViewRows would automatically sort causing rows to be moved around. This was not ideal for my application and there isn't anyway to stop this from happening with the BindingSource.
To correct this issue I have to use subsets of data. I use a DataView to apply the filter and sort to the main DataTable, which creates the subset DataTable.The problem is when I use the DataView.ToTable method I loose the Primary Key and RowError information. So I have to reapply this information everytime the user filters or sorts the DataGridView.Is there a better way to get a subset DataTable?[code]...

I create new row for the datatable I am working with, fill it with information. I fill datatable with the row from database that has the same primary key as my NewRow by using tableadapter.fill method, but when I do that my NewRow that was never added to the datatable is filled with information from database(and not information that I assigned to it).
