View 6 RepliesHow can I set the curosr to 'cursor.wait' for the whole display screen and not just for the application form? I have tried "Windows.Forms.Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor" And several variations but without success.
View 5 RepliesI'm putting the finishing touches to a fullscreen Winforms Application in VB (.net 3.5, VS2008). I need to hide the mouse cursor, so I've used:
Me.Cursor.hide()
this works exactly as you'd expect, until a timer triggered event runs (and no, the timer doesn't call Cursor.Show(),ANY event running seems to trigger this, and I have a lot of timers triggering events to control various aspects of my application).What I really want to accomplish is to have my application work like in Media Player, where the mouse cursor is hidden until I move the mouse or cancel fullscreen.Is there any way to hide the cursor until I move the mouse, close my form or exit fullscreen? I've tried lots of things, but can't find anything that actually works correctly (all due to triggered events running).
how to hide the blinking cursor in textbox? after i do this: txtbox.text="X" i want the cursor to be hide
View 1 Repliesyou know how you can set the windows taskbar to appear and disappear when the position of the mouse is all the way at the bottom? i want to do the same thing with my form when the mouse is in the top left corner of screen.or perhaps you can suggest to me a different way to do this. the user will probably just need to set those trackbars just several times during their usage.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way in the RichTextBox to change the Blinking cursor to a blinking _ like is dos or hide it all together? Or is there another object that I can use to simulate a dos prompt without it actually being a dos prompt where I can write text to it via code?
View 5 RepliesI am making a program in Visual Basic 2010 Express, and i was wondering if there was a way if the form (form1/me) can be maximized by dragging form1 to the top of the screen. So far I have this code:

Me.WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized

View 7 RepliesHow do i find the cursor coordinates on the screen in VB 2005 code?
"label1.Text = e.Location.X" Only gives you the coordinates in the program window itself, i want it to be displayed in a label/textbox in relation to the whole screen.
I am currently trying to read out my absolute cursor position on the screen. I read some threads in the "Legacy Visual Basic (VB 4/5/6)" Forums but this is as far as I get:

How do I go about this? I know you can hide the regular typing cursor, but I would very much like to get rid of the mouse.

View 2 RepliesOK, here is the problem....When I load my application I am using the application loading events in VB.NET 2005...The problem is that the module events will sometimes cause msgbox errors, etc..
View 7 RepliesI have an application with a main form, on loading the main form asks the user to select a file to work with. I have now been asked to add a splashscreen to the project so did the following:
* Right clicked in solution explorer and added the splashscreen
* Went into project properties and added the splashscreen to the dropdown for splashscreen and then clicked "View Application Events"
Within here I have added the following
Protected Overrides Function oninitialize(ByVal commandlineargs As System.Collections.ReadOnlyCollection(Of String)) As Boolean
Me.MinimumSplashScreenDisplayTime = 5000
Return MyBase.OnInitiallize(commandlineargs)
End Function
Now when I run the application the splash screen shows but within, a second the openfiledialog has appeared and hides the splash screen.
im using this code
Dim VideoSize As Size = New Size(My.Computer.Screen.Bounds.Width, My.Computer.Screen.Bounds.Height)
Dim PIC As New Bitmap(My.Computer.Screen.Bounds.Width, My.Computer.Screen.Bounds.Height)
Dim image As System.Drawing.Graphics = System.Drawing.Graphics.FromImage(PIC)
[code]...
How do I include the cursor with this and save all the screenshots as one video file?instead of saving as 1000 pics?

View 3 RepliesBTW this issue occurs in any MS office program when the VB.Net (or even VBA) is processing information.Example: In Excel, a worksheet is displayed on the screen. I start either, a VB.Net or VBA procedure and within 30 seconds the Excel worksheet (previously displayed) blanks out. In both VB.Net and VBA,ScreenUpdating = False. My expectation is that the previously displayed screen would stay static as if I left my desk to get a cup of coffee; came back and the same ole Excel worksheet was still there?Of course, setting VBA Screen Updating = False accomplishes two goals: 1) speeds up processing and 2) saves the user from seeing unnecessary "garbage-processing" steps.Why does VBA or VB.Net ScreenUpdating = False not freeze the screen at the time of its invoking?
View 11 RepliesThis VS010 solution is not providing my intended outcome as a custom override of a 'crosshair' or 'reticle' cursor e.Graphics.DrawPath() is the function that isn't working. This
WORKING solution demonstrates how it's supposed to work. The additonal PictureBox added to a Panel is, for reasons I don't understand, not allowing the 'new' cursor to appear.

I have a user control, and want to be able to update its cursor while it is disabled. For example, say that I have a user control whose cursor is Default. The below code works ONLY when the user control is already enabled; if it is disabled the below code doesn't work and the cursor remains Default: Me.MY_USER_CONTROL.Cursor = System.Windows.Forms.Cursors.WaitCursor
View 3 RepliesI have a custom cursor that I have as a ico file as cur files are only mono coloured and 32x32.
The only problem in using a ico file is that I can't set where the hot spot is and at the moment it is set in the middle of the icon which is no help
I was looking on the msdn website and it said to set the hotspot like this
Dim instance As Cursor
Dim value As Point
value = instance.HotSpot But I don't know how to set the point value to (0,54) which is where I want the hotspot to be located.
I'm curious if it is possible to hide a group of text boxes from view in a form until a particular condition is met, and to have a custom set of text boxes for that condition. To give an example; I want radio buttons offering choices for a manner of searching records, the user selects one and then a specific set of text boxes are displayed for the user to utilize, if a different option is chosen a different set of text boxes will be shown. Is this something that can be done?

View 1 RepliesI am currently writing a custom control, for a future project. The control uses custom cursors, but sometimes this strange error appears: Code generation for property 'Cursor' failed. Error was 'CursorConverter' is unable to convert 'System.Windows.Forms.Cursor' to 'System.ComponentModel.Design.Serialization.InstanceDescriptor'.

Currently I have the following VB.NET code to make a screenshot of my desktop, but it only takes a picture of the active screen:
Public Function SaveScreen(ByVal theFile As String) As Boolean
Try
SendKeys.Send("%{PRTSC}")[code].....
The following code is how I execute the above function, if it makes any difference, which I don't think it does:
SaveScreen("C:Lexer_tracescreen.png")
Now, I need to be able to take a picture of the entire screen, not just the focused window.
Now I'm creating at app in VB (Microsoft's, Visual Basic 2010) which will be in full screen but I want to know if I can put all my content in the centre of the screen. At the moment it's at the far top, left of the screen. When the screen size varies I want it will stay in the middle for all shapes and sizes. Like :
<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 500px;"></div>
But this is for web pages using HTML and CSS.
I'm trying to get coordinates on my screen by holding down my mouse and placing it over different parts of the screen. I'm using the mouse_up and down events in a button to kinda simulate the mouse being held down. The problem I'm running into is that anytime I go past the button's bounds, the coordinates I want stop. This is what I have so far:
[Code]...
Sometimes when updating the entire screen or moving around controls etc, there is some fairly bad screen flickering.
