View 2 RepliesCurrently I have the following VB.NET code to make a screenshot of my desktop, but it only takes a picture of the active screen:
Public Function SaveScreen(ByVal theFile As String) As Boolean
Try
SendKeys.Send("%{PRTSC}")[code].....
The following code is how I execute the above function, if it makes any difference, which I don't think it does:
SaveScreen("C:Lexer_tracescreen.png")
Now, I need to be able to take a picture of the entire screen, not just the focused window.
I know that in primitive versions of vb (as found in excel) there was a line that you could insert t prevent screens from flickering to and fro when it is trying to process something.Application.screenupdating = false
View 4 RepliesI'm writing a simple paint program in VB 2008 that allows the user to create rectangles using MouseDown event to anchor one corner, MouseMove to stretch (or grow) the rectangle, then MouseUp event to complete the rectangle. The last statement in the MouseDown event is Me.Invalidate() to trigger the form's paint event where all the rectangles are drawn (refreshed).
View 1 RepliesJust finishing off an update to an application written in VB.NET that used to run fine under CE.NET 4.2. Deployment platform is now Windows Mobile 6.1. The application runs in full screen, however whenever a new form is opened, the task bar, i.e. the bar with the start button comes to the fore and then the new form takes over. This is particularly annoying as I have a form that has many sub forms which are 128,128 and still the task bar flashes and obscures part of the user input screen
View 2 RepliesBTW this issue occurs in any MS office program when the VB.Net (or even VBA) is processing information.Example: In Excel, a worksheet is displayed on the screen. I start either, a VB.Net or VBA procedure and within 30 seconds the Excel worksheet (previously displayed) blanks out. In both VB.Net and VBA,ScreenUpdating = False. My expectation is that the previously displayed screen would stay static as if I left my desk to get a cup of coffee; came back and the same ole Excel worksheet was still there?Of course, setting VBA Screen Updating = False accomplishes two goals: 1) speeds up processing and 2) saves the user from seeing unnecessary "garbage-processing" steps. Why does VBA or VB.Net ScreenUpdating = False not freeze the screen at the time of its invoking?
View 11 RepliesI'm using the code below to get a screenshot of the entire screen.
VB.NET
Dim b As New Bitmap(Me.Width, _
Me.Height, _
[Code]....
But I need to edit it so that it only takes the a screenshot of my form. I'm not sure how to pass the absolute coordinates of my form's top most left corner and it's bottom most right corner.
I have a user who wants to print the form that is on the screen(the entire form not just the data) on the click of a button, is there a quick and easy way to capture it and print it. Kind of like a screen shot? I suggested that they could just do alt/printscreen and capture the form that way and print it but they want it all to be done from a print button for them.
View 14 RepliesI have resized the form by using the following code. what i want to do is that i want to fit the entire screen horizontally...so that the horizontal scroll bar doesent appear.....
Private Sub Resize_Form()
Dim cControl As Control
Dim i_i As Integer[code]..........
Which value do i change in the code that the screen squeezes horizontally ...? There are only two controls on the right side when we scroll....i think if the resolution is done correctly then it will fit in the screen.....but i dont know what chages should be made in the code.
I have a program and wish to generalise its appearance at startup on different machines. This worked OK until I moved it onto a Windows 7 unit with a 22" screen. The front page covers less than 2/3 of the screen. I know I've asked the system for 'working area' but could not find a reference to the entire screen which other applications seem able to use. How can I catch up with them? The code is from VB in VS2005. Is this my limitation?

View 4 RepliesI have a htpc project that I am working on. The main program loads dll plugins which are basically other win forms. On each of these forms, including the main program, I use a picturebox (a double buffered picturebox) for the background image and then draw everything on it by hand. Whenever I load the form from the dll and show it, I get a weird flicker. It looks like it is the previously used double buffer. Is there any way to clear the background double buffer before the flicker? Or am I going in the wrong direction?
Here's a couple of videos of the problem:

Notice the black screen with the white lines on it or the flash of the desktop after I click "Movies." How do I get rid of that?
how I would be able to print the entire portion of the screen which the form occupies,Basically, my problem lies in that the way I print now will properly print the form's buttons/labels/textboxes etc. But it will not print the WebComponent AxChartspace that I have added to it. So basically my form is partially blank.

Is there any way I can move a form in the center of the screen ? I am talking about run time for a form that is already shown . I need this because some times this form may become larger or smaller during run time and I'd like it to be moved in the center of the screen in order to look better . Back in VB6 I used to show again the form (despite being already shown) by MyForm.Show , which resulted i the form being moved to the center , but now it seems this doesn't work anymore ...

I'm trying a simple example of working with the ServiceController object. I have the code bellow:
[Code]...
The problem is, even thouh with this, the CheckStatus function is supposed to be ran every 100ms (timer driven), the text of the button and the color of the panel does not update. If I close the app and run it again, it will be correct, though.
I have notice that when a module is running the screen does not update properly. For example if I change a label to read "Please Wait..." The second half of the label does not display until the program is idle. Can I get the screen to update while its running.
View 2 RepliesI have a program written in VB 2010 express under windows xp which does some heavy number crunching combined with serial communication. When it "gets too busy" it does not update the screen anymore (done simply with Textbox.text = "any text") and it does not respond to user input in any text box. Not even to a click on any text box. Is there a way I can get the program to do screen update and respond to user input while it is busy?
View 3 RepliesI have a very long running process that I start in a thread. This raises events with messages to say what it is doing. How can I update a label on screen with these messages? (The label is in an update panel if that makes it easier).
View 3 RepliesIf this has been answered elsewhere can someone point me in the right direction. Instead of having visual studio's update screen i want to have my own screen pop up within my mdiparent form and have abit on the popup where i can display the changes that have been made (i can try and work this out with text files etc.)
View 3 RepliesNow I'm creating at app in VB (Microsoft's, Visual Basic 2010) which will be in full screen but I want to know if I can put all my content in the centre of the screen. At the moment it's at the far top, left of the screen. When the screen size varies I want it will stay in the middle for all shapes and sizes. Like :
<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 500px;"></div>
But this is for web pages using HTML and CSS.
I'm trying to get coordinates on my screen by holding down my mouse and placing it over different parts of the screen. I'm using the mouse_up and down events in a button to kinda simulate the mouse being held down. The problem I'm running into is that anytime I go past the button's bounds, the coordinates I want stop. This is what I have so far:

I have created a GUI and have set my 'Form1' window to match that of my PC monitor ( 1280x1024 ). However when i move the project to work on my netbook, the screen on my netbook is only 1024x600 and half my GUI is missing. Is there any way i can adjust my settings so that my 'Form1' GUI will auto adjust and display in full on both screen when i move the project back and forth?

I send a message a while ago and no one answerd, how can I draw directly on the screen (not on a specific window) just on the screen, neither if it's on the desktop or anything else.Is there is any option to bring up the switch between applications window (Alt + Tab), I don't want to use sendkeys because the user need to keep the key down and I just want the user to select the application with his mouse.
