I'm running a survey to count how many times a user clicks the left mouse button. But the mouse click applies outside of the form, even applies to clicking start or other locations of the of the PC when the form has been minimized with a NotifyIcon. I know how to count the mouse clicks within a form but not outside the form. Somehow I feel I need to use a timer event but need it to apply outside the form. The timer tick event doesn't have a e.button event or mouse down event or mouse click for that matter. Whats a good way to get this function to apply outside the form?

I have an application in Visual Basic Express 2008 that just has a Windows Media Player control on a blank form. In order to prevent the user from double clicking which would result in the media player full screening, I want to disable both right and left mouse clicks on the form and Windows Media Player control. Only after i select a button i can start drawing on my form. I have a code here, when i hold the Ctrl key and press the arrow keys, the mouse will start drawing straight lines. But what happen when i need to use controls like buttons, comboboxes etc.?

I have fully programmed my Minesweeper; however, I was having difficulty trying to get the same result as in the original minesweeper for when a user clicks and moves the mouse around while still right clicking. You may notice that in the original Minesweeper, when a user does as explained, the tiles that the user goes to will then look blank. If the user releases the mouse, the current tile they hovered to will become the clicked tile. In my Minesweeper, the tile I click on is the only one that will look blank, and when I hover over to the next tiles, they do not get blank like the first one I clicked on. Then when I release my mouse button when over to another tile, the very first tile I clicked on is the one that gets uncovered.
Here is what I already have used. I have the MouseDown event which checks to see if the game has been started to begin the game timer. It also has some color properties for tiles when I click on them and I set a boolean to true or false depending on the user left or right click. I have the MouseUp event which looks at the boolean to determin what the user had clicked on the mouse so I know if I flag or simply click to uncover. Then I have the MouseEnter and MouseLeave which are needed to yield the proper glow I want for the tiles. What should I do to get the same results as in the original Minesweeper with the MouseDown and MouseEnter into other tiles? I tried many other things such as MouseEnter, MouseMove and MouseHover, but all seem to yield the same crummy result as what I already have.

One of the problems that I constantly see with Winforms applications is that the GUI thread is stuck while a long-running task is running or just plain stops refreshing (yes, I know - needs threading). Is there a code template/design pattern I can use when reacting to mouse clicks or button presses? Should there be a processing thread always running in the GUI app? Here's the problem I have. I want a message box to pop up if no dice are selected and the user clicks the roll button. So far the only way I have been able to accomplish this is to put the same code under each radio button:
I want to have this code only once. But If I put it outside of the If/Then bracket and no dice are selected, the msgbox pops up but also the buttons that I want to remain hidden until dice are chosen pop up. How do I get the msg box to pop up and stop...don't execute any more code.

I have a problem with a Save button on a toolbar firing the click event twice if the user double clicks the button as opposed to single clicking.Disabling the double click on the toolbar itself seems to make no difference as it is the actual save button that is being clicked twice.I have tried setting a Boolean to stop the event firing twice but it is just too quick!I didn't have this problem with my code before as the server call was not async... and reverting back is not really an option.

This draws a small blue line at the bottom of the button to show it is highlighted. Just like the mouseoverbackcolor property on a button except this will draw the line. It works fine until you slide the mouse very fast between the buttons. It is as if the mouseleave event doesnt always fire.
In my application, the user clicks a single button and the program displays each network adapter description into a message box and then gets all the ip info for the workstation and places it into a text file and opens that text for reading. What I would really like for it to do would be to display all the network adapters into a single messagebox instead of messagebox for every adapter like it is currently doing. Im using Visual Basic 2008 Express..Is there a way to disable mouse click for a while in Visual Basic 2008, I mean if mouse was clicked more than 1 time in very short time to click only once? -- I need it because my mouse became like crazy one.. when I click once it may clicks twice or more.so until I buy another one, I'd like to filter click, to allow only one click and to block another clicks that were made in last second.
