Create And Search A Non-binary Tree?

Jan 17, 2012

I need to compare two tree-structured reports and show comparison results in a datagridview in vb.net. I think using tree structure should be efficient. But note that I DO NOT use a tree view to display results (I found a lot of help in tree view though). All I want to do is to construct two trees, and then search the trees and compare. I do not know how to write this in vb.net.

Binary Search Tree Delete Method?

Apr 9, 2011

I have a delete method for a binary search tree. It only deletes the last two entered values. When trying to delete the root or anything to left of it it returns a null pointer exception.

PublicFunction Delete(ByVal key AsInteger) AsBoolean Dim current AsNode = root Dim parent AsNode = root Dim isLeftChild AsBoolean = True While (current.value <> key)
parent = current If (key < current.value) Then isLeftChild = True current = current.rightNode Else

Create A Custom Tree(view) Structure?

Jan 1, 2012

I'm looking for a way to create the treeview structure in memory with a classes, so I can loop through them, like with a collection and easily load the data into a treeview, listview, datagridview or simply work with the data in the background.

There's a treenode class that I could use, but I've noticed that when I have a lot of data in the nodes, it has a lot overhead when for example serializing, because it also saves the checked state, imageindex of the nodes and things like that, which I never need. The saved file is about 10 times bigger than the actual data, which is not acceptable.

Create A Tree Based On Path Of Object?

Sep 20, 2011

I have a bunch of objects, they aren't in XML but the xml document would look like this[code]...

The tree is obviously very deep. Does anyone have an algorithm to create this into a jstree, series of "UL" and "LI". It would be christmas if you had the code in vb...but I will be satisfied with just the logic. My thought is to eventually make this into a jsonp web service so I can use jstree to build a tree, but for now im just trying to understand the logic necessary to parse this correctly.

Tree.SelectedNode = Tree.Nodes(0) 'returns Error With System Reserved Partition?

Jun 12, 2011

I am not the original author of this software project and the code is poorly documented. I am mainly a Java/C++ developer. The program displays the tree structure and allows files and folder to be selected. The program is getting errors with FileSystemTreeView when trying to return nodes on a system with a reserved partition. Here is what is happening: tree.SelectedNode = tree.Nodes(0) 'returns error with system reserved partition.calling, GetDriveList() will properly return all the drive letters - and not throw an error. Only when trying to get a tree.Node() or tree.load() is the error occurring.

Create An Application That Allows User To Type In A 32 Bit Number Using Binary System

Jul 13, 2011

Can anyone help me to break down the instructions for this assignment.Create an application that allows the user to type in a 32 bit number using the binary system, and convert that number into the decimal numbering system. For example, the user types 000000000000 0010 (where there are 30 leading 0's, 1 then 0 from left to right), and the output would be 2.The user will type a string that is 32 characters in length.A For loop 'reads' each character using the x.substring(i,1) where i is the current character we are reading and 1 means one character only, and x is the entry the user typed (use a Textbox to get the entry but Inputbox is also ok). When you start at the first character (from the right) then that value is to be * 2 ^ 0 then the second character is to be * 2 ^ 1, then the third character is * 2 ^ 2, hence:( x.substring(i,1) converted to Integer ) * 2 ^ j represents the decimal value of the current number (0 or 1) we are reading.A variable is needed to accumulate all those values. After the loop is done, display the accumulated value. To test this code on a simple version, enter a 4 digit binary number, where 0010 is decimal 2, 0110 is decimal 6, 0111 is 7, and 1000 is 8.

My understanding is the user must enter 32 digits into a textbox. The textbox should place limitations that only allow the digits "0" and "1". This error could be displayed to the user with a messagebox that then asks to reset the value orginally inputted into the textbox. My understanding is I should continue creating the formula of the position of each character where the third character is *2^2, fourth is *2^3, fifth is *2^4 and so on? I don't understand the formula and how it works.

C# - Create An Expression Tree To Do The Same As "StartsWith"?

Dec 29, 2010

Currently, I have this method to compare two numbers

Private Function ETForGreaterThan(ByVal query As IQueryable(Of T), ByVal propertyValue As Object, ByVal propertyInfo As PropertyInfo) As IQueryable(Of T)
Dim e As ParameterExpression = Expression.Parameter(GetType(T), "e")

[code]....

It works fine and is consumed in this way

query = ETForGreaterThan(query, Value, propertyInfo)

As you can see, I give it an IQueryable collection and it add a where clause to it, base on a property and a value. Y can construct Lessthan, LessOrEqualThan etc equivalents as System.Linq.Expressions.Expression has this operators predefined. How can I transform this code to do the same with strings? System.Linq.Expressions.Expression don't give me a predefined operator like "contains" or "startwith"?

C# - Write Binary Data "as Is" To Registry (visible Binary Data As String From Regedit Only)

Feb 23, 2011

I have been googling this and have not come along a working solution for an entire day. I don't know anything about binary data types (as I've never knowingly used them) and I'm trying to write a binary value that I see in the registry, to the registry. Now, all I see is the following [shown below]... and if I try to pass that as a string to the RegSetValueEx in the WinAPI and of course it errors out...

I do not know what 'numbers' I need to pass into the lpData As Any, argument of RegSetValueEx (i tried a bit array) in order for it to come out as the following [shown below] in the regedit. I really have no idea, and my tests to place random numbers in the bit array just produce corresponding random "figures" as visible in regedit that I do not understand how to 'tie' them together logically. here is the culprit!

Drag/Drop Within A Tree And Drag/drop From Tree To Textbox

Oct 20, 2010

drag and drop nodes within the same tree (not between trees) when users drag and drop nodes within the tree, give them the option to move the original node to a new location within the tree OR to just copy the original node in a new location (seems complex but I have a month to figure this out). change the system default blue highlight for selected nodes to another color change the system default cursors for invalid and valid drops (instead of the circle with slash indicating invalid target, i want a red minus) and (instead of the little plus sign with little box indicating a valid target, i want just a big green plus sign) add a red insert line to indicate where the node would be dropped within a tree also drag and drop the text of a node from the tree to a textbox add a "folder" image next to parent nodes and a "document" image next to children nodes

I have looked through the internet but I am having difficulty sorting through all the information available (I see a lot of information for Visual Basic 5 and 6, and those codes don't work for me in visual studio 2008). I can email anyone my code I have so far.

Public Class Form1
Private MouseIsDown As Boolean = False
Public Sub TreeView_ItemDrag(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As ItemDragEventArgs)Handles TreeView1.ItemDrag

Populate A Tree From A Database?

May 17, 2010

I am trying to learn how to populate a tree from a database, I did this same thing back in Vb6 and am trying to learnhow to do it in VB.Net, but I am having trouble with the code. From looking on the web I have piced this together, but I think it may be far off. It just jumps out put leaving the tree blank; and it gives no error message. I put in a try error catch and it cannot convert the data to a double, but even if I take this out it does not work. It is stuck at the line with: dr("CustomerID") <> hID I was using this to check for a parent node, I can take it out, but it still does not work; I am afraid that I am be way off here. I am using the Nothwind database.
