in my app, I want to use reports. It's a long time ago, when I created my first report and that was in vb6. Now, I would like to use the report viewer control and the reports, created in vb.net. I use postgresql database with an ado.net connector (also I have dataadapters, datasets, datareaders, etc). I created a form and placed a report viewer on it and I added to my project the first empty report too.
I have created reports that print on my printer via Visual Studio 2008/VB 2008 Basic code. I want to be able to send these reports to other people via emai. I don't care how its done, but it seems that if I could get the report into Word 2007 the problem would be solved. What are your suggestions to accomplish my objective.Terry 01
Iam workin wid crystal reports have a problem i jus want to create a crystal report dynamically not by using crystal report wizard rather by using a blank crystal report and connecting to the database server and generating the report from the database manually....

I have tried Variables!Claimant.Value (for a variable called Claimant) but I get an error "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference." I have tried qualifying it with Report. and also with the report name in front of it but I get errors with this also.I have the variable CLaimant defined in the Variables section of the Report Properties.
I am using Vb.net 2008 and SQL 2008. I have created an application and I try to create a crystal report. I don't know why the report does not produce any data. [code]...
I am currently making a video game with a couple of my buddies and we need a bug report program, now I was talking to a friend and he said the easiest way to make one is to use Visual basic, the program is simply supposed to take text from the chat box on the windows form, and send it to an E-mail address. I have gotten most of the code for writing and reading from the text box, and have even been able to send text to a text document on a drive. I am having problems sending it to an actual E-mail address.
I am new to vb.net and i want to develop user defined report as in my attachment. Please give me an idea how to develop. my boss does want to use 3rd party components.
Not sure if this is an IDE issue or General VB issue, but its my best guess ;)
I have installed the ReportViewer with SP1 as recommended by this page: [URL]. I am running VB Express '08.
I added ReportViewer into my toolbox. I opened a new form and dragged the ReportViewer on to the form. I set Dock to Fill Clicked on Create New Report in the Quick Tasks
Nothing happens...
Searched for a few hours and read a ton of stuff from '06 through '09 and it seems I could not find an answer to this problem... Something about Express not having a report deisgner maybe? I have the SQL Buisiness Intel Studio installed and can design reports in there all day long. I was hoping that I could use this report viewer/designer to access similar if not the same reports in my local application project. My application will be based on a local SQL Exp. db as the data source and I am trying to avoid buying anything.
I'm familar with vb6 to create a .ttx file for crystal report 10. Now that i'm using vb 2008 , I would like to know how can u create a .ttx file to be used in Crystal Report?
I'm struggling to create a crystal report in a VB project,The objective of the report is to return one row of multiple database tables.
This is working by a parameter selecting an ID number in a CASE table, the CASE table contains some forgien keys related to CUSTOMER,ORDER tables etc.., i want to select these forgien keys and return the one row that they relate to in the different tables i.e get all the data from the CUSTOMER table, from using the forgien key, without having to enter another parameter.but am struggling with the syntax.
This needs to be dynamtic, as any ID number able inputed.
so far all i have got is ...
({?CaseID} = "ALL" OR {Case.ID}={?CaseID})
which simple reurns the single row in the CASE table.
how to make a crystal report in Vb.net using ms access as your back.end The purpose for this is about my project i think it's better to use a crystal report rather than to command another application for viewing your file right? ^_^
I have three related tables, Residence, HomeOwners & Invoices. Residences can have multiple unpaid invoices. I am trying to create a mailing lable report so if a residence has 4 unpaid invoices, I only need the residence once. The below sql statement is returing 32 rows (the number of unpaid invoices) instead of the jus the 9 residences who owe the 32 invoices.
I am using visual studio 2010 to create a VB reporting website. I found a blog which tells me how to use range bar chart to create a gantt chart. But I got some problems with how to group the bars(tasks) on task names.
In visual studio's report designer, I first added a range bar chart. Then dropped the taskname filed to the category fileds. So my understanding is the range bars will be grouped by task name. For the data fields, I dropped starttime(start value) and endtime(top value). I also set the 'draw side by side' property to false. But when I run my website, I could only see one task for each task type in the gantt chart( one task1 and one task 2) . It didn't show me all the tasks. So my incorrect result is shown below:
task1 ------ task 2 -------------------------
No matter how many records are there in my database, the gantt chart only shows the first record for each task type.
I barely use windows form but now I have a windows form application, there is a Listbox control, which will populate Active Directory search result, not like other regular database.I am thinking it would be nice if user can print off the search result in the listbox?
I was thinking using a Crystal Report viewer, but how to define the data source, it is not like regular data source that I can set up a connection, the search result is a dynamically generated data table, not from database.
which contains a combobox with two Gender options, Male and Female. When the form runs the user can select either male or female to perform a query. I made the ComboBox public and shared so that it can be viewed by other forms. On another form i added a ReportViewer and a dataset based on my database (MS Access 2007 database with 1 table named tblStudents). I don't have any problems when i try to run a simple query without parameters, but there is a problem with my
