which contains a combobox with two Gender options, Male and Female. When the form runs the user can select either male or female to perform a query. I made the ComboBox public and shared so that it can be viewed by other forms. On another form i added a ReportViewer and a dataset based on my database (MS Access 2007 database with 1 table named tblStudents). I have a report that displays some sales info. I have a query that takes the data from an SQL Server database and I store it in a dataset. Up to there everything is ok. The problem is that I need to print the same report using Crystal Reports for each row in my query. Is there any way this can be done? I call a form with a ReportViewer tool to display the reports, wich are basic .rdlc reports.

If I have a large number of classes, each similar to the other in certain aspects (they all share a common base class, but each does things differently), and I need to create Windows forms for each to allow easy changing of their values through a GUI? Create one matching form for each object in VS' forms designer, Or Use code to create the forms dynamically at runtime.
#2 makes the most sense to me, because a lot of these objects will share very common features of the form, notably "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons. But one object might need to draw a textbox on the form while another might need to draw a combobox. Not to mention, if I want to put icons on the "Ok" and "Cancel" buttons, I'd have to do this for each copy of the form in designer, and that sounds like it could get out of hand quickly.But is drawing forms through code sane? VS' forms designer is pretty sophisticated and designed to make life easier. Am I wise to consider ignoring its functionality and diving into the trench warfare of forms design through code? Or are there examples of automating form creation based on an existing object's properties?

I have 2 or more reports and I want to be able to open them in a single report. Let's call it the master report. In this report I want to open several reports, that are independent one to another. I'm using this code to generate the raports:

With this code I rewrite the datasource of the raport, and I can filter the query by the 'param' variable in the query.After setting the datasource of the report i can save the raport:
crDocument.ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.[Shared].ExportFormatType.RichText, "C: emp.rtf")
into rtf, pdf, etc. I want to append more of these reports into a master empty report. Or load these reports as subreports into a master empty report.

I am trying to create a report that will give me the area of multiple polygons on a layer. There will be an unknown number of layers and polygons. I was thinking I could use a multidimensional array with each row holding the layer name and the area of that polygon then loop through and separate the layers and sum the areas. My problem is that in all the reading I�ve done on the subject I�m not sure of how to initialize the array.

Basically, I want to create a timer for each row of data that will get returned by a SQL query:

I would want the timers to be called "Compteur" & ROWID. This really is necessary.I need them to have different Ticks and so that some can be enabled all at once. Basically it is for a project tracker to count the time you are working on the current project. However you could indeed work on many project at the same time.

I have a crystal report with a bunch of parameterized fields that are being filled by code and displayed through CRViewer. I need to add a few sections in here to execute a query to return a dataset and display this in the same report. I am not sure if the best way to do this with a subreport. I am trying to add a subreport and then set the datasource of the subreport to my dataset, but I cannot get it to work.
Lets say there is a customers table. I have FirstName LastName as parametirized fields displayed on the form along with address and basic customer information.
I want to place a subreport showing all orders this customer has made on the SAME report. The is an association table with multiple orders possible.
The report is being placed in a class that can be called by a VB.NET app. Therefore I cannot create the dataconnection for the subreport in the UI (or maybe I can and pass params later).
I am successfully populating the parameterized field by doing the following:

myRpt.Load("myReport.rpt")

This will be one report I just need to display the subreport section to handle all possible orders.

Synopsis: I have a report generated from the report wizard in VB that works, but I only want to load data from the same department as the current user.
Details: The application connects to MySQL using the MySQL Connector/Net. I have a users table in the database, one of the fields is "Dept_ID." The report I currently have works loads data and everything fine, but I only want to load some of the data from the table, specifically where Dept_ID matches the current user's Dept_ID, basically adding the "WHERE" clause to the select statement.
I used the report wizard to generate the report and data table, etc, just followed from step one. I've looked around and have found something about using parameters, but can't seem to figure out how to pass a variable to the parameter, or if that is even the best option. Using the wizard, I don't have any code to show for it and the report works like it should, I just need to figure out how to configure it further.

Within vb.net we've got a report that works great it has it's header/footer details then then a table in the middle which repeats data and all of that is fine.
But what the client wants now is for another button named 'Print Individual' and this will print the same report but instead of the repeated data within the table for each of those rows to be a single row on a page with the same header/footer.
So for example on the first report if there is one page with 5 rows of details the 'Print Individual' report will print the same but have 5 pages and 1 row per report.
Obviously if I can do it where we use the same report instead of maintaing two reports would be good, as the report has a lot of information on it.

I have the requirement to create an application that has multiple front ends developed using Windows Forms, WPF, ASP and Compact Framework Mobile Forms.I would like to be able to create a series of obejct representing the business logic and have this logic accessible from the various front ends available. My first thought was to use remoting as I'd like to be able to pass the business objects back and forth between client and server but the compact framework doesn't support remoting and also transferring a full framework business object to a compact framework business object doesn't seem possible.My next thought was to use web services but again the passing of business objects seems to be very hard to accomplish. Without doing this I would have to create individual web methods for each business operation.
Finally my next option is to use sockets and write the whole client/server logic within some classes and expose them to the UI/Business layer. My only problem with this is it is not scaleable should the number of clients increase dramatically whereas using remoting or web services I can host the solution via ASP.Net.Does anybody have an ideas on the best way forward for this or even have any input on how they would write an application that required a windows form, wpf, asp website and mobile device GUI all of which want to use the same business logic?

i was doing a fair amount of programming many years ago, like 10 it feels like, so I'm sorely not up to date on how my newly downloaded Visual Basic Express expects me to communicate with it.I am writing a program that pulls a cell from a database after the user has gone through several forms to determine which cells they want. When I write it like that, it doesn't sound very efficient, but I've designed it this way for usability.Here's where I have a problem: Should I store the path the user takes in a string, an array, what?
Here's an example:Someone wants baseball stats and trivia. They run my program, main form pops up, they select National League button, the NL Form pops up. Now the way my program is set up right now, is there are two ListBoxes on the form, one is populated, and as the user selects a Team from ListBox1, it jumps to ListBox2. Once they've selected all the teams they want info for, they click a button Next.
What I now need the program to do is show the next form "Team: name" once for each team, and insert the name of the team on the form in the appropriate label which I'll have blank. This form will also do the Listbox thing except the first listbox will populated with Topics like HR Stats, Pitching Stats, Coach History, etc.

is it possible to have a single report from two different tables? Because I have been reading articles that are saying that it is not possible and a subreport should be implemented? Can anyone clarify this for me?
I've been retrieving the fields that I need for my report with inner join sql statement and setting it as the data source of the report that I had created but it doesn't show up when the crystal report viewer is loaded. I had the correct syntax based on testing on what is retrieved by the statement, the only problem is how should it be shown in a single report.

I want to report the status of multiple tests to the user like this:
Test1 PASS
Test2 PASS
Test3 FAIL
where the PASS should be green and the FAIL should be red. The number of tests is not known at design time, so I can't make N rows of labels and set their properties at run time. If I put all of that text in a single label, is there a way I can turn some of the words green and some of them red?
