View 1 RepliesIs it better to add just one datasource to your project that holds all your database tables and queries that you use as typed datasets. Or, create a datasource for each individual form or situation where your using the database tables as typed datasets. It seems simplier to have just one datasource but is there a down side. We're talking about @25 database tables/queries.

I'm having some trouble setting up binding sources to these types of files, not sure if I'm selecting the correct driver in the wizard. Tried the generic ODBC and .NET drivers but it doesn't work, the dataset is created and adds a table but there's no data retrieved. The design object being used to display the table is a datagridview. Can't find documentation on dealing with files, only databases.
View 1 RepliesI have a form that has three comboboxes in it, cbxStudy, cbxMethod, & cbxAnalyte. When I call the form I load a data table and use that table to fill the comboboxes. I want to assign a value to cbxStudy, then fill cbxMethod by filtering the data table using the value in cbxStudy, then fill cbxAnalyte by filtering the data table using the values in cbxStudy and cbxMethod.
This code keeps failing when the forms New constructor is called, but once the form is loaded the code works great. I indicated below where the code is failing. It's failing because Me.cbxStudy.SelectedValue is = {System.Data.DataRowView} when the constructor is called even though I set the SelectedValue myself.

Within vb.net we've got a report that works great it has it's header/footer details then then a table in the middle which repeats data and all of that is fine.
But what the client wants now is for another button named 'Print Individual' and this will print the same report but instead of the repeated data within the table for each of those rows to be a single row on a page with the same header/footer.
So for example on the first report if there is one page with 5 rows of details the 'Print Individual' report will print the same but have 5 pages and 1 row per report.
Obviously if I can do it where we use the same report instead of maintaing two reports would be good, as the report has a lot of information on it.

With this code I rewrite the datasource of the raport, and I can filter the query by the 'param' variable in the query.After setting the datasource of the report i can save the raport:
crDocument.ExportToDisk(CrystalDecisions.[Shared].ExportFormatType.RichText, "C: emp.rtf")
into rtf, pdf, etc. I want to append more of these reports into a master empty report. Or load these reports as subreports into a master empty report.
is it possible to have a single report from two different tables? Because I have been reading articles that are saying that it is not possible and a subreport should be implemented? Can anyone clarify this for me?
I've been retrieving the fields that I need for my report with inner join sql statement and setting it as the data source of the report that I had created but it doesn't show up when the crystal report viewer is loaded. I had the correct syntax based on testing on what is retrieved by the statement, the only problem is how should it be shown in a single report.
I want to report the status of multiple tests to the user like this:

Test3 FAIL
where the PASS should be green and the FAIL should be red. The number of tests is not known at design time, so I can't make N rows of labels and set their properties at run time. If I put all of that text in a single label, is there a way I can turn some of the words green and some of them red?

The problem is that I need to print the same report using Crystal Reports for each row in my query. Is there any way this can be done? I was thinking I could use a multidimensional array with each row holding the layer name and the area of that polygon then loop through and separate the layers and sum the areas. I want to know how can I get specific record to make report? For example I have student information there in my program. Its easy to create a report of all students. but if user wants to get & print specific record of a student what should I do? I have another question to ask. I have heard it that its possible to show each specific record there in each page by using NewPageAfter or NewPageBefore. I need to know is there any way that user will select ID number from combo box & when he will click on report button it will create report of that student what has been selected from the combo box?
