Create A Report That Will Give The Area Of Multiple Polygons On A Layer?

I am trying to create a report that will give me the area of multiple polygons on a layer. There will be an unknown number of layers and polygons. I was thinking I could use a multidimensional array with each row holding the layer name and the area of that polygon then loop through and separate the layers and sum the areas. My problem is that in all the reading I�ve done on the subject I�m not sure of how to initialize the array.
I am generally following this tutorial, the main differences being I'm using 2008 R2 Express and Windows Forms, he is using 2005 & ASP.NET Web Site:'m building a minimalist Windows Form project for learning purposes. So I'm using a 1-table database with 2 columns, ContactID & Name. I added a dataset file, 'ContactsDataSet.xsd' to my project and added a single minimalist table adapter with just a fill() & getdata() method.Then I added a DataGridView control and connected it to the ContactsDataSet to confirm it was working and that worked fine. I ran it and it filled up with data as expected. Everything up to this point was auto-generated code.

I am trying create a multiple reports using a single report viewer. can this be done, if yes can u give me a clue on hw to go on about it. i have done everything its just the part of having multiple reports
I have 2 or more reports and I want to be able to open them in a single report. Let's call it the master report. In this report I want to open several reports, that are independent one to another. I'm using this code to generate the raports:

I am working in VB.NET defining my own classes. I have 5 classes, Policy, Coverage, CoverageCollection, Layer, and LayerCollection. Policy has a bunch of data items, one of which is of type CoverageCollection. Coverage has a bunch of data items, one of which is of type LayerCollection.

Then I do like "dim p as Policy". So, iIn order to get to properties on a Layer, I reference it like p.cov(0).lyr(0).face. What I am trying to do is add a readonly property to Layer that is calculated using some Layer information but also using something from Coverage (or even Policy). I can take this in as a parameter to the property, but I think there should be a way to get at Coverage/Policy information since I am "under" it already. Is there a way to do this?
Ive been trying to figure out what report I should use as it appears I have crystal reports built in and also have Microsoft Report Viewer in this VB 2008.What I need to do is give the user a list of names and when a ame gets clicked it will show all the details in a report.I have loaded a ListView Control with the names from my database and this is letting the user pick a report so I can get the name and ID number of the record to show this way and just need to figure out how to get that record onto a report and what report to use?Ive done similar in VB6 but have never looked at .Net. The data is comming from an access database.
I am trying to clean up my code in a project I have been working on by creating two separate modules one that disables a service and one that enables a service through the registry all of this worked fine in one big form all together but I would like to also reuse the module in some other projects, I am getting this message however "Warning1Function 'ApplicationLayerGatewayDisable' doesn't return a value on all code paths. A null reference exception could occur at run time when the result is used". [Code]. what do i need to do to get rid of these warnings ? or do I just ignore them?
What i am looking is how to create a layer between the application and database? I need to create an xml files where the application will fetches the data and updates the data into local cache. Later from the xml files the data has to be transferred to database. Here the application need to work even when the application is in offline and database is not been connected.

2. I have been told that we should create interfaces than abstract classes espcially in the data access layer, is there a particular reason for this?

My Problem is that the data does not show up in the text boxes.
I've read many articles on how to create transparent labels but it seems to me that my particular case is not covered. Very simply I have a label placed in the upper right part of the form, which in fact is part of the menu strip. The label displays some info to the user but I wish it were transparent. I've tried various methods including lblAct.Parent = mnuMain '(or Me) lblAct.BackColor = Color.Transparent lblAct.BringToFront() But cant get it to work. How I can make that label in that position transparent?
in my app, I want to use reports. It's a long time ago, when I created my first report and that was in vb6. Now, I would like to use the report viewer control and the reports, created in vb.net. I use postgresql database with an ado.net connector (also I have dataadapters, datasets, datareaders, etc). I created a form and placed a report viewer on it and I added to my project the first empty report too.
I've been working with System.Drawing for awhile and like to think I have a good handle on it; I've created classes that draw grids, write text in gridboxes and rectangles, convert rectangles to circles, fill areas with color, etc. What I don't have is any sense of artistry at all, and I don't have the slightest clue how one would use System.Drawing to draw a rectangle and then color/slope the edges so that it looks like a System.Windows.Forms.Button would, or how to make it look like it's inset deeper than the surrounding Form, like setting a Panel's BorderStyle to Fixed3D.
You have a file named Movie1.avi on your desktop, u open up the program (that I want to make) and then simply drag drop that file into a box area, and then the program will create a folder, with the same name as the input file, but without the extension (folder name Movie1) and then automatically put that file into the folder it just created.
The new folder will be created in the same dir as the input file.
Multiple file support - is NOT needed.

I am trying to create a VB.net form application to visually fill in a floor plan with different colours according to reservation status.The basic floor plan is white and the idea is to colour in the various apartments in different colours depending on some variables.I have tried overlaying .png pictures on top of each other but this doesn't work due to the non-true nature of transparency in visual studio as soon as you overlay more than 2 PNGs.Not much more success with drawing polygons either.
i have 2 polygons: 1 - A rectangle with a certain size defined with 4, 6 points or more (what ever becomes easier). 2 - A non-rectangular polygon (a quadrangular) what i need is that when given a certain point with inside the rectangle, i can translate that same point in the other polygon in the right position.
Im craeating a dart scoring program (to use myself in my dart room) and want the user to be able to click in different areas of a picture of a dart board to register the thrown darts.
This program will be resizable, so the picture of the dart board can change it's size when the user change the program window size.
Im using a list of polygons(pointF-arrays) to map up each area and run some calculation to see if the mouse click is inside the polygons area, but how do I scale those polygons correctly when the picturebox is resized? My polygons are hard coded to map the dartboards area of the picture at a specific size.[code]...
I'm trying to do something that is turning out to be out of my league at the moment. I need to draw geometric figures. These geometric figures have all the coordinates of their corners. Say I have a trapezoid, and I would want to draw it. The drawing would be done in a picturebox or a panel or a groupbox (some part of the form where only the geometric figure will be).
I saw the method on how to do that Here and that's exactly what I'm trying to achieve, but there it's drawn on a newly created form, and I need it in a picbox, panel or groupbox as I mentioned above. I also need the drawn figure to be at the center of the picbox/panel/groupbox.
The coordinates of the lines should be like (xa.text,ya.text) to (xa.text - xb.text, ya.text + yb.text) if I'm not wrong for the first line of the geometric figure and so on.

Basically the forum size is set to 600x2000 but the client should only allow you to view 600x600. I want it to add +1 once you "collide with a invisable box I'll add and this will redraw the screen.
I designed a form and managed to fit graphics inside it. Picture box is 465 pixels high. Form1 is 500 pixels high. SnapShot of the screen verifies that the 500 pixel height is the overal height. It includes the upper Bar and lower frame. Is there an instruction to set the From's inner pixel size and not overal?
