Create A Folder And Dropping A File In It, With Area To Detect Input

Dec 25, 2010

Make a folder, based on an input file - example :

You have a file named Movie1.avi on your desktop, u open up the program (that I want to make) and then simply drag drop that file into a box area, and then the program will create a folder, with the same name as the input file, but without the extension (folder name Movie1) and then automatically put that file into the folder it just created.

The new folder will be created in the same dir as the input file.

Multiple file support - is NOT needed.

I know how it will be done, but I don't know the code..

Automatically Create A Text File And Folder In A Listbox Input Box?

Jul 5, 2011

i have created a program to view images in a picturebox, i have created two list box's one for folder names/image areas to group certaint images and the second listbox to list the number of pages contained in the image folder/area. when the user creates a new image area, he or she can name it whatever they want, when they do that i would like to create a folder in the c drive for instance with the same name as the image area, and i would want it to create a .txt file aswell to keep memory of what they have done, so when they come back to it the next day they can just carry on from where they left off.

Detect If A Control Is In The Viewable Area Of A Form?

Aug 27, 2010

if any one knows of a way to determine if a control is currently in the viewable area of the parent form. In example...if I have a form where all controls are visible when the form is maximized, how would I go about determining which controls are no longer visible to the user after they change the window state or form size. To be clear I am not talking about the visible property of a control but rather if the control is actually on screen for the user to see when they do something like resize the main form for instance.

File I/O And Registry :: Create An Invisible Folder?

Oct 8, 2009

I am making a file program that will store information that a user can not edit without using my file system. The only two ways I can see how to do this is to either create an invisible folder to hold the files, or make my own extension. I think it would be easier to create an invisible folder through VB if possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

.net - Cannot Create Modify Text File Into Program Files Folder Of Windows 7?

I make an application and make setup file using VS setup project. This work fine and create default text files into Program Files Folder for winodw 7/vista .but can not modify these files or create any new files.

If iuse C: root path then application work fine or for win XP no problem.I think UAC restricting to perform these opeartion. I found one solution that , if change user rights manually then this problem solved.Follow these step to change your account settings.Control Panel-->User Accounts and Family Safety-->User Accounts-->Change User Account Control settings-->Never notify(Set tab to never notify).After this change need to restart system.Now can make all changes like windows XP into Windows 7.can also make changes into program files.

Its working fine, but need to make these changes manually in OS.but its not efficent solution. So if any one knows how can make these changes by coding that will nice.

Detect If Folder Is Shortcut In Vista?

Jul 27, 2009

I have a program here that gets a list of directories from drive, and it works fine, but keeps listing the directories that are actually shortcuts/ junctions. For instance,[code]Will list all the directories(and files as well with .GetFiles) in 'c:\Users\All Users\', even tho 'All Users' is just a shortcut. This can lead to some problems, like 'c:\Users\All Users\Application Data\' lists all the files/folders in "All Users" including "Application Data", so it'll just keep recursing itself until it quits with an error. I can hard code it, and ignore that specific folder, but theres a few other shortcut folders that exist as well..So is there any way to detect and ignore those "directories"?

How To Create Transparent Label In Menu Area

Aug 23, 2010

I've read many articles on how to create transparent labels but it seems to me that my particular case is not covered. Very simply I have a label placed in the upper right part of the form, which in fact is part of the menu strip. The label displays some info to the user but I wish it were transparent. I've tried various methods including
lblAct.Parent = mnuMain '(or Me)
lblAct.BackColor = Color.Transparent
lblAct.BringToFront()
But cant get it to work. How I can make that label in that position transparent?

How Detect Folder Permissions In Vista With Net 2005

May 22, 2009

I have an app written on an xp pc which I want users to run on Vista

The app needs to delete a file on a portable drive in a particular folder

This folder was created on the xp machine and copied to the portable drive

The app will not delete a file in this folder on Vista but it will on xp

When I check folder security on vista (which does not exist on xp) I find that the folder does not have full control assigned

my app will write a file to that folder & delete it but will not delete a file put there from the xp pc

If I change the security in vista to full control it works

what I want to do is see if the folder has full control when the user selects it and advise them they need to alter security as I can not do it in the program

basically I want to advise them the moment they select the folder, not when it fails to delete the file after entering misc details in the app which are reuired before the file is deleted.

I used the following function call:Public Declare Function rs_init Lib "rsource.dll" Alias "init" () As Double.The other different thing is the projevt was developed on a 32 bit OS but since then I have upgraded to 64bit (if this makes any difference). he other thing is where is the debugger PAUSE button. has it been removed from vb 2010?Also when i run debug it seems to create the exe in the Build output target folder instead of the default bindebug folder why is this?

Make Customized Borderstyles, Create 'raised Area' Looks?

Jul 12, 2010

I've been working with System.Drawing for awhile and like to think I have a good handle on it; I've created classes that draw grids, write text in gridboxes and rectangles, convert rectangles to circles, fill areas with color, etc. What I don't have is any sense of artistry at all, and I don't have the slightest clue how one would use System.Drawing to draw a rectangle and then color/slope the edges so that it looks like a System.Windows.Forms.Button would, or how to make it look like it's inset deeper than the surrounding Form, like setting a Panel's BorderStyle to Fixed3D.
