I've read many articles on how to create transparent labels but it seems to me that my particular case is not covered. Very simply I have a label placed in the upper right part of the form, which in fact is part of the menu strip. The label displays some info to the user but I wish it were transparent. I've tried various methods including lblAct.Parent = mnuMain '(or Me) lblAct.BackColor = Color.Transparent lblAct.BringToFront() But cant get it to work. How I can make that label in that position transparent?
I am creating an application . in which clients have to enter data and view it and search it by application number and name.i want to add print form in search form in which client when search data of entered users he/she may print that form.i seen some plugins like print form, or print document , but it prints exaclt the form image etc.i donot know how to use them completely. so i wants to ask how can i print that specific area of search form ... the printed form should not be same like in the form. how can i set that this textbox data should be of this size or that lbl or picture should of of that size?
I have to create an image that is to mimic a single clock rotating hand within a square area, and the user has to choose the width and speed of the rotation and the direction.i managed to create the square area with a hand inside, with this codes and variables,
(Dim Mygraphics As graphics = e.graphics mygrqaphics.Draw Rectangle(pens.color x1,x2,y1,y2)
mygraphics draw line(pens.color,x1,x2,y1,y2),now i have to find codes and variables to rotate the hand or line within a square area.one point remaining constant the other moving.
I have used VB (versions 2 - 6) through many years; however, I am crash-course training myself into the VB2008 / VB2010 world kicking a screaming. I would like suggestions as to what SQL database access method should I focus more on in my learning process without making me feel that I'm a million years behind. I know I have WinForms where I can create a datasourse and drag / drop fields or tables on a form to create a grid (not really what I'm looking for).
My trouble isn't so much designing the form but in how I access the database. Theres XML, LINQ to SQL, ADO.NET, and many other methods. Not only do I need to grasp these methods quickly but I also need to know what type of projects I should create. What I mean is...I was thinking that I would design a WinForm app; however, I see that there are WPF apps and others to chose from. This is getting deep. I know it depends on the project that I'm working on. My plans are to write an app based off of either an SQL Express 2008 or SQL Server 2008 database. This first app will be standalone for now but may later become multi-user. I know I'm far behind on my learning curve coming from VB6. I have read a bit on VB2005 / 2008 / 2010. I own both VB2008 and VB2010. I use VB2008 at work. I know ADO.NET is still alive but by what I read online, it's a dying method and is only kept for backward compatibility. XML and LINQ to SQL and other methods are all pretty new to me.
i want to give the ability for a user to drag an area on the screen that they want and a that area to be print screened. or alternativly they click anywhere and that location is the top left of the box and then when they next click that location is the bottom right of the box and that box is print screened. [code]
I have been using vb6 for a while, I am following a tutorial by MS to develop a basic application and a simple task cannot be completed for whatever reasons! The tutorial asks to drag the label object from the toolbox and drop in the tab control container. Then, go to the label size property and adjust the size to some different dimansion. Basic stuff, right? It won't let me do it! After I enter the new dimensions (which by the way are not large or very small), the label size (both width and height) resets back to its original dimensions! I have the vb.net sp1 installed.
I designed a form and managed to fit graphics inside it. Picture box is 465 pixels high. Form1 is 500 pixels high. SnapShot of the screen verifies that the 500 pixel height is the overal height. It includes the upper Bar and lower frame. Is there an instruction to set the From's inner pixel size and not overal?
I have a form with 2 pictureboxes. 1 is for the canvas and the other is for holding about a dozen images (about 60x60 pixels each), pretty much icons. I would like to drag the images to the canvas and be able to move them around or delete them if necessary. Like setting up a board. Since I am using pictureboxes, what would be the best way to load the images and also the best method to be able to drag them around 1 by 1. This is almost like a paint program with brushes that can be moved around.
i have a few questions about seting up a form.when you creat a new for open the dataset drag and drop the tables to form it creates a top menu bar with pages plus sign and x and save.now when you run the app you need to press the plus sign to add data in the database..is there a way to make it that you dont need to press the plus sign?
I am making an application and i require a labels text to change between specific times. For example between 11pm and 5pm i want the label's text to be "closed" and then between 5pm and 11pm for the text to be "open".
I have a picture box on a form that changes size as needed. Both by resizing the form and by code. How can I resize the form automatically if I resize the picturebox in code. The client area of the picture box should not be clipped.Right now the picture box is set to dock fill, but if the code resizes it, the form does not follow it. Is there a binding somewhere I can use?
I was wonder how, if you can, can I create a WebBrowser control or something similar to this, that will contain a selected area of information, and that information only. So it doesn't load and show the whole web page, only the part I choose.
For example, I would only want to show the weather portion of this webpage: [URL]
How can I get a specific area of a webpage, loaded into a form, that is able to be reloaded/refreshed later on?
I have code that refers to controls like buttons and labels and textboxes (obviously), but i want to create them programatically, how can i create a button or label that is on a form that has also been created programatically. Here is what i have:
Dim frmIndashone As Windows.Forms.Form Dim vscPage As Windows.Forms.ScrollBar Dim lblPageNum As Windows.Forms.Label Dim txtVector As Windows.Forms.TextBox Dim txtPageCode As Windows.Forms.TextBox
I am asking because i have a With statement that assigns different values to the different things that looks like this below:
RaiseEvent Load(frmIndashone) With frmIndashone .vscPage.min = 1
[code]....
But i am told on everyline of the second snippet that vdcPage, lblPageNum, txtVector and txtPageCode are not members of windows.Forms.Form, How can i make them members?
I am having trouble with my code for Guess my number. I am definitely amatuer. Yes it is a homework assignment. No I am not asking you to do it for me. But I am stuck.Your GUI program is a game to be played by the user. See Screen Shot on Screen Shot Tab..A new employee is working on a classified mission and the program will randomly pick an expected profit to be guessed by the user. The program must randomly select an number within the range of 1 to 900.Do NOT use a 'Start Game' button to generate the rand number. Generate a rand number when the GUI is loaded.
1. Create a form that displays the rules of the game on a label. 2. Create a textbox for the user to input the guess and also a 'guess' button. 3. If the user is outside the given range, provide a proper message (<1 Is not a valid guess or >900 is not a valid guess)and clear the guess. 4. When a user has a valid guess, display a proper message (either too high or too low) and tell the user to guess again. 5. With a correct guess, display a proper message and change the form's background color to red and disable the guess textbox. 6. Create a reset button that allows the user to play the another game with a new random number. 7. Create a show me button that displays the number and does not generate another random number (allow the current game to continue). 8. Create a exit button to exit the program. 9. Ensure that you include error checking to prevent a user guess that is out of the given range and for any non-numeric characters. 10. Create a single Help menu item that launches a message box that displays valuable and meaningful information for the program and usage. 11. Create a label that tracks the guess count per game. Each time a new number is generated, start the guess count at 0. 12. Create a max guess limit set to 5 and use a progress bar to track the progress to approach the limit. 13. After each valid guess (1-900), clear the guess and update a label/textbox that displays all of the previous guesses up to 5 entries.
Here is my code so far. I have been working on one point at a time and then testing it. I have not even made it to numbers 11 - 13. I am not getting actual errors. Instead of my reset button clearing all fields at once I am having to click it more than once. Instead of displaying messages per scenario the message label is staying on either input a number or your number is too low. My Answer is not displaying when Show answer is clicked-perhaps my answer coding is wrong? [code]
Having a slight permission problem with Win 7 I am guessing it will be the same on Vista but work fine on XP (yet to try)But my program is sitting in: C:Program FilesCompanyProgram And its trying to create new files alongside itself in the Program Files area but bombing out which I know is permissions. If I go there to create the file myself it comes up with a UAC prompt and when I hit allow it works fine but obv the program can't do that byiteslf so bombs out.Is there anyway I can over come that without the user having to grant admin rights to the program each time it starts or do I have to write data to another place?
The below code msgs me the file path of a file I drag and drop onto the form. How can i restrict it to only allow .watever files to be dropped on the form. MSDN didn't do a good job explaining this.
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Me.AllowDrop = True End Sub
Private Sub form1_DragEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles Me.DragEnter If e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) Then e.Effect = DragDropEffects. All End If End Sub
I'm simply trying to create a small tool, to create a username / password / OU group, and a few properties on a new user from a form with a few text boxes, and a button.I know how to connect to LDAP, though i'm having a problem getting this done.
I have webrowser in my project..Suppose i open google..I want to drag the google image, can somebody tell me how how to get the URL of the image,so dat i can download it from the net...
I have a pop up form that contains a listbox. Right now I am telling it exactly which text boxes I want to be able to drag and drop to, but I was just told to have it drag and drop to every text box on the main form. The main form with the text boxes has a bunch of tabs on it that hold each section. Each section has text boxes, so how would I code it so they are all capable of allowing drag/drop without specifying each one separately?
This is the code from my pop up form:
vb Private Sub txtDropIn_DragDrop(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Dim DropInTextbox As TextBox = CType(sender, TextBox) Dim TextToDrop As String = CStr(e.Data.GetData(GetType(String))) 'get rid of leading " - " if there isn't 'anything in the textbox If String.IsNullOrEmpty(MainWin.TextBox1.Text) Then TextToDrop = TextToDrop.TrimStart(CChar(" -
I'm working on a small project for the fun of it. One of my hobbies is astro-imaging and I take pictures of planets, nebulae gallaxies etc . One of the more challenging targets is the International Space Station. I have had some success with the ISS by manually aiming my telescope as the Station moves across the sky.
What I am trying to achieve is to write a program that will lock onto the brightest area of a webcam image. If the brightest area (which will be the ISS) is off center, then commands are sent to the telescope to recenter it.
So far I have been able to write code that talks with the scope, and I have been able to get a webcam stream to show on a Form.
So the last piece of the puzzle (well I am sure there will be other things that have to be worked out) is to identify the brightest area of the image. I am scratching my head as to how I should accomplish this.
I'm thinking I should dump pixel information into an array maybe, and establish which line and column has the brightest average values (I could then draw a cross hair over the image).
i am new to vb. i have created a program which has work areas/image areas. i can create as many as i like and i have created a code to delete a work area. but i cant delete more than one and i cant find out how to fix the problem i will post my code so you can see what i have out so far,
I need to load a picture and save some areas into a database (like you do it on Facebook when tag peopple into pictures).I need to save de selected area and then, in another form, show the picture and the selected areas in blue?
I am looking for an advice how to do a drag and drop copying an object anywhere on the form and also move an object around and place it where the user wants. Is that possible? Kind of something what we have in the designer of Visual Studio, we can drag and drop a label or a textbox down on the form.
