I simply created a "Report" folder on the the project and "crTxEmpMaster.rpt" is created on the "Report" folder.I tried load a .rpt file for Crystal Report, but it occured "Load report failed" What is wrong wth it? #1 and #2 both failed.
Dim menuReport As New ReportDocument()
'#1
Dim reportPath As String = Application.StartupPath & "" & "ReportcrTxEmpMaster.rpt"

I am trying to generate a report using Crystal studio that takes a public variable from the vb.net application. I think the best way to do it is to just dynamically give the filter to the report at runtime, but I can't figure out how to set it up to take any information at runtime.

View 2 RepliesI've been googling around to find a way to dynamically assign a DataSet to an rdlc report but i was unable to find a clear method to do it.Does anyone know if there is a way? I end up trying to use this method because i also found no way of adding parameters to the rdlc report. The VS documentation is vague on this issue..
View 4 RepliesOn runtime about the number of columns to show (mainly remove columns that are available and then shift the remaining columns).. I can view the reports in a report viewer normally all I need is to be able to edit the columns in run time.
View 1 RepliesI need to make a report but my columns will be chosen in run-time. I used to make report with crystal report by filling my data to query table and connect this query table with designed report by crystal report. but this time the user will choose the fields in run-time.
View 3 RepliesThis for a semi-automated application. Basically the user provides a list of parameters (entered as an offline spreadsheet). The application automatically selects the required report and logon information. Each line in the given spreadsheet will be used as parameter values for a certain report. Therefore the requirements for this (vb.net) applicaton include:
- dynamically select a different Crystal reports
- each report may read data from different tables from an Oracle database.
An old application of mine that had done something similar and it works normally. Those Crystal reports retrieve data from a SQL server stored procedure. (The stored procedure reads data from Oracle using linked server concept). I do not have to set the logon information dynamically in the vb.net code because every report uses Trusted Windows logon concept. The application can also pass dynamic values to different Crystal report parameters without problems. Then I modify this old application for the required new set of Crystal reports. Because these reports access Oracle database via ODBC and not every report reads from the same Oracle schema, it appears I have to write codes to pass ODBC Dataset and its logon information (the users do not want enter it everytime). The application does not run after the change. The report printout shows blank. Although I can accomplish what is needed by modifying each report to use Stored procedure. But this is not prefered and not a simple task because of the number of reports.I have tested each report and it does run normally in interactive mode.I am not sure if I need to write codes to set the datasource for these 'new' Crystal reports. In my test codes I set the reportsource for my CrystalReportViewer object to an non-typed report. Is there anyone who can show me sample codes that
1) achieve odbc logon
2) select a report dynamically for preview/printing
3) pass values to parameter
directly here is the issue:a "OpenFileDialog" on a windows form is made to choose a picture and then insert it into a rdlc report under VB.net 2008 so i need the exact command to access any picturebox in the rdlc report.
i used to do the job under VB6 as the following:Set ReportName.Sections("SectionName").Controls("Image2").Picture = LoadPicture(fileName)
When I load the report from my c: drive it works fine:
[code]...
Now when I load the report from solution explorer it tells me "Load report failed. The system cannot find the file specified"
[code]...
I have added the report to solution explorere and part of my project
I am adding a button on the form dynamically, and how to add click events for that but
View 2 RepliesI am trying to access VB.Net exe on a client system through LAN.Its working fine for server with static IP address. In case I try to access it with server having dynamic IP address, It doesn't provide access(config file containing server name).
In Order to access that exe with dynamic IP I need to specify current IP address of server in config file.
How it's possible to access that with server name as it's not feasible to change IP address in config file on daily basis
I am currently developing an application that will be the "base" for several components (business reporting systems, order management, etc). The idea is that our customers will install this "mother application", and we will offer components that will slot into it, expanding the functionality.
Now, here's my idea for how to make this work. I have some of this basic functionality down, but I want to get other people's opinions, ideas and experiences with this sort of thing before I move too far in a direction that might not be the best way to go:

I've a DLL assembly reading a variable, "GalleryID", from an XML file. I can't modify the assembly, so I am wondering if I can make the XML element value dynamic? For example, to get this value from a querystring or any other scenario without changing the assembly.[code]This is an ASP.NET website that has multiple users. When a user logs in and open the gallery.aspx page it will show the user's own gallery. This scenario is not working now since the gallery module shows one gallery (Galleryid=2) to all users according to its setting in Settings.xml file. How can I pass galleryid in querystring -- gallery.aspx?galleryid=5 and inject it to Settings.xml file?
View 2 RepliesI have developed a vb.net app with MS access as back end db.when i installed exe on client's machine, it gives error that it couldn't find the db file on client's machine, even though i have changed the connection string in app.config file after the installation. What i have found out is that when a dataset is created at development time and whatever the address is at that time , that is the address it looks for at client's machine.
View 4 RepliesI am trying to create an autocomplete textbox using jquery which will be bound to SQL database. I also want to place a dropdownlist on the page so based on initial selection autocomplete textbox will retrieve data from different tables. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 page and code behind is VB.NET. I have AJAX autocomplete working but it matches only first characters and its not as robust as jquery. Can anyone share a sample code that will retrieve search data from SQL and also give me directions on how to make the table name dynamic?

I have a vb.net 2005 application that I inherited. It is about a 250 screen app, and I am having trouble. Some quick background: There is a form called Mastermenu that every screen in the application inherits from. Inside this form, a dynamic menu is built from an XML file using a custom class called clsMenu. Here is part of the

View 3 RepliesI have the following linq query:
Dim q = From definition In definitionList _
Where definition.ValueDefName.Contains(criteria)[code]....
I have already looked into this answer: LINQ - dynamic WHERE clause?Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me using .net 4.0. When I attempt to pass the criteria string in it ask for a predicate. The end goal is to add any of these:
definition.ValueDefname.Contains(criteria)
definition.ValueDefDesc.Contains(criteria)
definition.Aliaslist.Contains(Criteria)
definition.StrategicInitiative.Contains(Criteria)
to be passed into the query depending on what checkboxes the user has selected. How can I create a dynamic where clause in linq to sql? Is there new syntax for passing in a where clause as a string?

How would I change this code to make the factory dynamic. I believe I was close with remoting. I don't want any hardcoding of the factory, nor do I want to have to recompile. The database drives it.
