Modify A Payroll Application Using An Independent Sub Procedure?

Mar 15, 2009

I am attempting to modify the payroll application below using an independent sub procedure rather than a Function procedure I'm not sure why things are not working after I managed to get the thing to work with the Fwt function. It's got to be something minor that I'm overloking. I get the correct amount for "gross pay and "FICA", but get "0.00" for FWT (it should be 35.78) and I get 369.40 for Net pay (should be 333.62)' This is the "CalcFWT Function" version

Option Strict On

SQL Procedure Failing Due To Conversion Of Varchar To DateTime Error?

Oct 21, 2011

Im having an issue with a Stored Procedure I have written,I can call it in management studio and it works fine, yet calling it from my codebehind gives this error The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value. when i call da.Fill(dt)What is really puzzling me here is that I dont actually convert anything from varchar to datetime, the most I do with the date variables is format them into a different datetime format.

My VB.Net code
Private Function dbGetEvents(ByVal start As DateTime, ByVal days As Integer) As DataTable
Dim dt As New DataTable()[code].....

I cant see where this error could be coming from, having tested running it in SQL management studio without error I am pretty sure the error is in the VB.My first thought was that maybe the parameter I am passing in the @start / @end values arent being recognised as DateTime so I tried adding the parameters like:

Dim p As New SqlParameter
p.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.DateTime
p.ParameterName = "@start"[code]....

Conversion Failed When Converting The Varchar Value When Calling Stored Procedure?

Jun 9, 2011

I am developing a Windows application for restoring specific databases from our Production platform to "field" tablets by using backups that are taken daily to disk. To preclude "orphaned users" on the tablets, I want to extract the "user name", "password" (hashed) and "sid".I am calling the MS Stored Procedure "revlogin" that produces screen text to copy and paste into a query to recreate those users on another SQL server instance.

IF (@denylogin = 1)
BEGIN -- login is denied access
SET @tmpstr = @tmpstr + '; DENY CONNECT SQL TO ' + QUOTENAME( @name )

Web Browser Independent Of IE?

Dec 31, 2011

I would like to make a web browser for my own use with various customizations. However, in VB6 the various web related control like winsock, inet fetch only html. Using webbrowser control is not the answer because it uses the same settings as windows IE. What I'd like to know is a control somewhat like the webbrowser but independent of windows IE setting. So that the changes made in IE wont effect my web browser. And also the webbrowser control does not have features such as blocking a specific image/CSS according to URL etc.

Make An Independent Web Browser?

Dec 18, 2011

Been trying to make an independent web browser... One thing I would like to do is to make my tabbed web browser to have a 'separate web browser engine' than to have it run off any default browser. I know that it will take a long time I have been looking at lots of websites but they do not give me any helpful information which is annoying except to read small snippets of useless data.

Make A Resolution Independent Application?

Dec 19, 2009

The development machine's and client machine's screen resolution are very likely to vary. I want a code that will RE-SIZE and RE-POSITION each and every control so that no matter what the development machine's resolution is, the application will look exactly the same on the client machine irrespective of its screen resolution.

These two links are as close as I get to the answer, but they are not very clear.

Main Procedure Call A Sub Procedure To Display Values Of X / Y And Hypotenuse

Dec 1, 2011

The instructions are as follows:

1. Write a Visual Basic Console Application.Inside the main procedure call a function procedure to input and return a value for a double variable called x, the width of a right triangle.Inside the main procedure call the same function procedure a second time to get a value for a double variable called y, the height of a right triangle.

2. From the main procedure call a function procedure which calculates and returns a value for the hypotenuse equal to the square root of (x squared + y squared).You will have to pass the values of x and y to this function procedure.The procedure should calculate and return a double type value.The value that is returned by this function procedure should be equal to the square root of (x squared + y squared).

3. Also from the main procedure call a sub procedure to display the values of x, y, and the hypotenuse.

[2008] How Can Two Independent .NET Application Can Exchange Data

Jan 28, 2009

I wanted to know how can two independent .NET application can exchange data. Something like DDE which was there in older versions.My purpose is to have an upgrade application (which is a seperate .net program) and my main application. Now I wanted to know that when my upgrade app runs it should be able to confirm that my main application is not running. How can I achieve this ? I know thru process name I can find out if my main program is running or not but thats risky if there is another program with the same name.Thus I wanted a way whereby my independant .net program (upgrade app) is able to determine if my another application (main app) is running or not.

Text -> Excel Conversion (with Extensive Formatting Required After Conversion)?

May 11, 2012

I'm creating a program in VB.net that does the following:At a high level I receive a file in email, put the attachment in a monitored folder, import the text file to excel, format the excel, and then email the excel file to a list of recipients.

Here is my plan:

Completed: Outlook VBA to monitor all incoming email for specific message. Once message is received drop attached .txt file in a specific network folder.

Completed: (VB.net) Monitor folder, when text file is added begin processing

Not Complete: (VB.net) Import text file to Excel

Not Complete: (VB.net) Format Excel Text file.(add in a row of data,format column headers with color/size, add some blank columns, add data validation to some of the blank columns that allow drop down selections)

Completed: (VB.net) Save file.

Completed: (VB.net) Send file to list of recipients.

Obviously the items above that are not complete are the bulk of the work, but I wanted to get some advice on what some of you think would be the best way to approach something like this. The import and formatting of the file are causing me some problems because I just can't decide what would be the most efficient way to do this.

The way stated above. Import to excel -> format Having a template excel that contains all of the formatting already done for me and attempting to transition the data to this document (no clue if/how I can do this). Is it even feasible? Have the template already created and then import the text file to a new excel file, then transition that data to the excel template?

Something I thought about, in terms of formatting the document, was to record a macro of me doing all of the formatting that I'm going to need and then attempt to convert that macro into my vb.net code, but I'm not sure if that will work. I will need to verify that the text file comes in the EXACT format every time correct?

Is there any possibility to make it fool proof in a way that even if user takes the calender back, application expires after 90 days of first activation? First activation date has been saved in the database.
