Insering Row In Datagridview - Dynamically?
Oct 22, 2010
i am developing application with Datagridview using vb.net. the application has to add a DGVw control into a tabpage. i am working on a provision to the user to add and delete a row by clicking the datagridview button column. i am encountering a problem while inserting rows in between two rows. the same piece of code is working fine when we manually drag and drop a dgvw wherea it is not working when we do it dynamically. it is throwing error saying that"dynamic insertion is not possible'.
approach 1:drag a tab control, incl a tap page, drag a datagridview, add a datagridview button column, and finally a command button.declared in the top of the class declaration.

I would like to ask you a question about combo boxes . I want to insert a string into a combo box , but it seems I have a problem . First of all , let me specify that this combo box is set to only accept specific strings , which populate it when the form is loaded . Assuming that the combo box is located on Form1 , when it is loaded , this code is executed :
[Code]...
What is going wrong ? Is it that the combo box can not have that value because Form1 has not been loaded yet ? If that's the case what should I do ? I guess I could call the Load sub directly from Form2 in order to load Form1 , but I wouldn't like that because with the Load event some other code will run , which I don't want it to . So , is there any way to set my desired string into the combo box ?

I have an app that has a DataGridView with a few buttons. My intent is to have the DataGridView populate with the data associated with the button clicked. So if you click the States button it'll fill the DataGridView with the DataSet I have created with a link to a SQL table with a list of States.

I have an application with a DGV which is populated like example bellow:
ConPubs = New OleDb.OleDbConnection
ConPubs.ConnectionString = "Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=" & dataSource & _
";Initial Catalog=" & initialCatalog & _
[code]....
What I have to do is to change
Me.dataGridView_ctrlUsr.AutoGenerateColumns = False
in order to create my own type of columns. USERNAME to have type ComboBox NAME to be type normal like it comes from dataset But I don't know how to create a a column that is combobox and another one that is normal like it comes from dataset.

In my windows form I have an empty datagridview that contains strings loaded from a csvfile. The datagridview has no initial column collection. There are four columns in the csv file. In the csv file, columns 1 and 2 have values of true orfalse. So far I am able to load the text perfectly.
What I want to do is change the strings "true" or "false" into an image in my resources (a pretty green checkmark and a red x).
I would like to leave the csv file text as it is, and then change the columns dynamically.
Then, when I save the information back to the csv file, the images must be converted to text strings to accomodate the csv.

i have a pretty standard crystal report that shows a quote for materials for various customers - i also have a form, lets call it form1 for arguments sake - on form 1 i have two data grid views - one attaches to the customer table, one attaches to the quote table. Customer and quotes are linked on customer number at the database level.
i dragged and dropped these on to the form and they work great, as i scroll through each customer in the customer datagridview, that customer's respective quotes show up in the quotes datagridview.
now the problem - as a third tier, i have a crystalreportviewer that has all the nice graphics and presentation of this quote, company logo, etc etc, i've also done all the standard report sources etc etc, but the darn thing won't cycle through the quotes as i scroll through them in the quotes datagridview.
am i missing something simple? all i want to do is highlight "abc company", see their list of 50 different quotes pop up in the quotes datagrid view, then click a quote number and see the quote display in the fancy smanshy crystal report viewer so i can then print or export or whatever.

I was wondering if there is any way to load data from excel sheet into a datagridview in VB2008 dynamically. I have looked at few data connection codes but all of them involve the excel sheet and thw workbook name. Is there anyway that I enter the excel sheet name in a inputbox and the data from excel loads into datagridview without hardcoding the sheet name. I know data can be imported using the below code, here the programmer has to mention the excel workbook name, path and sheet name. [code]I am developing a program to perform some calculations and my data is in a number of excel workbooks and worksheets. I need to be able to bring the data from these excel sheets into the datagridview to perform calculations. So I was thinking if I could mention the excel sheet name in the GUI and then accordingly the data from that particular sheet would be loaded into the datagridview to perform calculations.

I use an SQL Table with (ID, Code, Comment, ..., TextColor, BackGroundColor) The TextColor and BackGroundColor are Decimal Value. I would like to do, in a datagridview, to change the font row with the TextColor Value, and the background row with the BackGroundColor. If I want to show data in textboxes, it will be the same : the font with the TextColor value, and background with the BackGroundColor value.

It is a few years later and the same issue pops up! The enviroment is 50+ dynamically created DGVs that work properly except for having to format the data supplied as the DataSource to the DGVs Alignment appears to work but formatting does not. The datasources are 1 of 2 sources. 1) a datatable from the program 2) a SQL database. If you format the datatables everything works well. The additon of ValueType had no effectdoes not work
Me.dgv.Columns(1).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "HH:mm:ss"
Me.dgv.Columns(2).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "N3"
Me.dgv.Columns(3).DefaultCellStyle.Format = "N0"

I have a database that dynamically loads from Access into a datagridview. I have to enter data manually into one column in this datagridview. I need to be able to perform calculations to this data, for example I need to sum the data in this column, sqaure it and substract it from individual sqaures of the data in the cells. I should be able to sum it sum(22,33,44,53,67,23)^2-sum(22^2,33^2,...23^2). The number of columns keep changing depending on the database I choose to load, so I need to code this dynamically too. I am not really a VB person. I did the same in excel using Visual Basic and I am trying to do it in this Visual Basic environment.I built a tool in excel(VBA) that do some statistical calculations and data analysis and I am trying to build the same in Visual Basic.

I have a Windows form which contains a DataGridView within a GroupBox which is within a TabPage which is within a TabControl.The scrollbars property is set to 'Both' so that the user can scroll down to see all available rows in the grid.
I want the Windows Form to initialize to allow the user to see 7 rows but to expanded vertically to the size of 32 rows which is the maximum possible in this application.
Is there a way to size the form dynamically so the Form's Height property can be changed as the DataGridView's rowcount increases?

I have this code.
Code:
Public Class Form1
Dim NPB As Button
Dim x As Integer
[code]....
As you can see, when I open a program from my menu, a new button will be created with text similar to this, "C:Program ". The button it self will not do anything. How can I create the method at the same time the button it is for is created? Also how can I change the text do that it gives me, for example, CCleaner.exe instead of the whole target path?

I can usually find the answers to most of my questions via the Google Gods, but not this time.I have a form that has a TabPageControl and on that page a collection of labels and text boxes via a usercontrol.
On the form I have a button that allows the user to create a new tabpage, when the code adds a new page, it automatically adds the UserControl collection. I can't get my head around how to access the objects on the newly created tabpage.
What I need to be able todo is take the index of the tabpage that has focus and translate that against the UerContol name, but I havn't a clue how to do it!

How can I dynamically add DLL files to a application?
I made an application that searches for DLLs in a folder. I want the app to run the "GetVersion()" function in the "StartModule" module in the every DLL that it finds. How can I do it?
Could I make it, so the DLL would run in a separate thread?

I am trying to write some code that will allow me to dynamically load DLLs into my application, depending on an application setting. The idea is that the database to be accessed is set in the application settings and then this loads the appropriate DLL and assigns it to an instance of an interface for my application to access.
This is my code at the moment:
Dim SQLDataSource As ICRDataLayer
Dim ass As Assembly = Assembly. _
LoadFrom("M:MyProgsWebServiceDynamicAssemblyLoadingSQLServerinDebugSQLServer.dll")

I'm trying to add rows dynamically to a System.Web.UI.WebControls.Table control in ASP.NET. I found some sample code that does what I'm seeking, but it only adds a single row. It seems like the table row count does not carry from one page load to the next. The user should be able to add as many rows as desired, and I need to capture the data from each row.
What am I missing? Code below.
<%@ Page Language="VB" %>
<script runat="server">
Sub btnAddEmail_Click(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim tr As New TableRow
Dim tcLabel As New TableCell

I have a GUI that is processing data from our shop floor.In order to communicate with external programs, we are using MSMQ to process messages. Each interface we have to an external program, we are currently creating a class file with only properties,calling the class in the GUI, setting the properties, then sending the class object to MSMQ for processing.The class is serialized as an XML file, and the queue watcher can pick up the class, deserialize it process the messages without any problem.Currently we have identified three interfaces, developed the classes for them and this is working great.As more interfaces are identified moving forward, I would like to avoid having to add the classes to the GUI front end for each interface.I would like to create a DLL for each interface (again only with properties) that could be dynamically loaded and discover the properties for the class.The GUI could then set the properties for the class and process the message.One property each class will have is the name of the interface.This will be a readonly property that will the queue watcher know which interface to use. In order to make this dynamic, I could create some tables in our database that would contain the name of the interface and cross reference the properties in the DLL with parameters in the GUI. This way the GUI would only call one DLL that would be embedded in the GUI, it would call the database to get the parameters needed for the interface, match them from the GUI and create the message.
1.What is the best way to dynamically load DLL's using VB 2008?
2.Does this sound like a good proposal?
3.My intent is to have the GUI re-compiled as little as possible to minimize the impact on the shop floor when new interfaces are created.

I'm just starting to learn VB and Visual Studio and I've run across a problem. I've spent the best part of a day trying to find the answer and I have a horrible feeling that it's going to be something very simple that I've over looked.I'm working on a WPF in Visual Studio 2010 and am trying to dynamically create a button on the main window when a button is clicked (I know, everything I've read tells me this is pretty basic!) Here's an edited snippet of the code I've written:

Imports System.Windows.Forms
Imports Excel = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel
