DataTableAdapter.Update Doesn't Insert New Records In The Linked Access Database
May 20, 2010I am writing an application that does a number of different things with data downloaded from hardware which is monitoring the power used in my home and produced by my PV Solar array. I have run into a roadblock early on, because I cannot seem to get new data into an Access database that I have linked to my application by means of a DataSet. I have checked the DataAdapter's InsertCommand, DeleteCommand, and UpdateCommand definitions (created by the DataSet Wizard), and they seem to make sense, and nothing is throwing exceptions or otherwise making VB complain, but new rows added to the dataset are not being added to the database.

I have a dataset named Dataset2.xsd

A insert query names InsertTest2 with fields @f1, @f2 and ExecuteMode = Scalar
When I run the following code per MSDN [URL] the database does not get updated.

when i click the button, i get a error message saying "Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement". as far as i can tell, i have everything i need to insert a new row into the database, and i dont see why this problem is occuring.
item(0) is an autonumber key field, so that should make a new record by itself, and i have declared the input textboxes as the data() array

I created a table adapter, dataset and binded the controls to my already made formThing is, i'm trying to insert a new record into the database and it won't work! I can fill the form with a record from the database and update it so i know its definitely connected correctly. Everytime I try to insert a new record whether its through a table adapter or manually, I just can't seem to get it to automatically save to the database.Ive put this under the save button

Jun 28, 2010I have a csv file that I need to import into a sql table, this portion is working correctly. The code grabs the data, displays it in a datagridview and then imports it into the sql table. What I need to do is add an additional field that will automatically number itself by the amount of rows inserted at that perticaular moment. Let me explain a little clearer. The data I grab from the csv file is a day snapshot broken down to the hour. So lets use todays date 6/28/2010 will be broken down in the csv file like this:

Gridview Doesn't Update Insert/update Commands
Jul 21, 2010I have a gridview that is set to a sql datasource, it is generating the columns automatically. If I add a column to the table it is referencing, it will draw that column and display it, but it does not update the insert/update commands to include the new column. Is there any way have it rebuild those commands automatically?
