View 1 RepliesI have searched lots of way to make a 30 day trial limit of my program. They say "Use -Settings- in visual basic application for your variables" to save the information about user (like : registered or not registered or when the program expire). (You can see the 'Settings' when you double-click on "my project" in "solution explorer") Does the data which we use with "settings" saved in our program or somewhere in the computer?

Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim free As Integer = Microsoft.Win32.Registry.CurrentUser.CreateSubKey("demo").GetValue("time", 5) Label1.Text = free& " stay days " hak -= 1 If hak < 0 Then MsgBox("THE END please buy this programm") Me.Close() Else Microsoft.Win32.Registry.CurrentUser.CreateSubKey("demo").SetValue("time", free) End If End Sub
this codes are not daily. i don't want this codes.
I need to know how can I make trial(demo) version of my program. Normally people use date & time to do it. But if user will change his system date I guess it will not work. I need to know the best way of making trial version which will work only 7 or 15 or 30 days. Is it possible to make something like that it(program) will kill all files after passing 30 days

View 1 RepliesI'm developing application that is plugable. The plugins are loaded via Assembly.LoadFrom(). In my solution I have 4 projects. A WPF, 2 DLL and another DLL that is a plugin for the app. The plugin project references one of the other DLLs. When I build the Solution and run I was getting an error trying to use the plugin dll because it was expecting an older version of the referenced project. I had to clean and rebuild the plugin project to get it to run correctly.

VB.NET has this rather annoying limitation which caps compiler warnings reported at 100.vbc : warning BC42206: Maximum number of warnings has been exceeded. This makes things rather frustrating when trying to size up the amount of effort that would be required to comply with VB.NET best practices, such as enabling Option Strict.

View 2 RepliesHow they relate and differ from each? What are the best practices for version control? Is there a primer about publish online? Or a good book?
And is it possible to make ClickOnce and a msi in one solution of VS 2008? If so, is there any conflict or pitfall?
BTW I am using VB if that makes any difference.
In Visual basic 6 I often use Flexgrid component, I see that in VB.NET these components are not available. Component should I use instead of Flexgrid. What do I need to call Flexgrid componet (VB6 Version) into the project. NET from COM.
View 4 RepliesI am using VB.NET 2008 Express Edition and INNO Setup. When I create a setup and run it, the resulting install is an older version of my project from, I think, 2 or 3 days ago. If I go back to my project in the developer window and run the project, it is clearly a newer version than the install. Since this installed version that comes up was done I have added a form and made many other changes. Is it because the build didn't exeucte? When you run the project doesn't it execute a build every time?I tried this again from a backup. (The backup is much more recent than the version I'm getting.) And it still does the same thing. Why does the install not match the project? It is not possible to go into the project and add the changes because they are already there.
View 3 Repliesconfirm the forum for this question about Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I found a VWD Express forum, but it was in Spanish... Lo Siento. My issue is selecting a down-level, 3.5, framework version as I create a new project/website. I have figured out how to CHANGE the target framework version once the website/project is created. I have the 3.5x installed on the system and available. The articles I have seen discussing this issue, refer to a framework version selection drop list in the new project creation dialog/wizard. I do not have that option.

I've decided to go with a Windows Installer (Setup Project) in VS Prof, rather than ClickOnce,I've added this project to my main project, and have right clicked and selected 'View -> Launch Conditions', it requires the .netframework 3.5.21022...
But I've created the installer project for .NET 2.0 framework, is this going to stop someone from installing the project without .NET framework 3/3.5?EDIT: I've found under the properties of that installer project, that .NET framework 3.5 and Windows Installer 3.1 was selected as a prerequisite, unchecked those, and checked .NET Framework 2.0, however the version under the launch condition .NET Framework is still 3.5, it should be 2.0
Let's say I roll out version 1 of this project for many users. As time goes by I update the code, change the Access db strucutre here and there, and would like to roll out version 2.What is the best way to do this?Is there an easy way to get the differences between version 1 and version 2 of an access db?
View 6 RepliesI am new to this forum and also to vb.net (am an ex vb6 programmer)..I installed visual studio 2010 premium edition and it works with my own projects BUT trying to open the microsoft Lab5 solution file I get this error:

I have a software coded using visual basic 2005. I don't have the 2005 version now and i need to edit that software. Is there any way to retrieve the code using vb2008 or vb2010? If not from where can i download the 2005 version? I need to do it at the earliest.
View 4 RepliesIt was very practical to keep build number in VB6, as it auto-incremented that number every time that i "compiled" the program.
There is any equivalent feature in VB.Net? I am using VS 2005.
Does the Express Version support adding multiple soultions (.sln) to a project or is this only available with the Professional version.I see that I can add a DLL as a reference that was built in 2010, but it is not letting me step into it with the debugger (or recompile changes to its source).
