i am using vb 2008 express and i want to create a little menu with buttons but am don't know how to link the buttons to .exe. so what i want is when i click on a button it opens the exe file.

I want to create a function that will make a treeView out of link buttons. Then I want to tie all the link buttons to one click event. So each time the user does somethingI will append the users name to the current linkbuttons if the user clicks one of the link buttons a click event is raised and I can extract the text of that button.
Here is an example:
Nick
...user does something...now the link string says
Nick > Jeff
...user does something...now the link string says
Nick > Jeff > Charlie
and so on.
Now I want to give the user the ability to click one of these link buttons (there are 3 in this example). If the user clicks one of the buttons a click event is raised and I can extract the name out of the text of teh link button.

The situation is that I have an interface for the user to select what kind of file he wishes to establish, and there has to be a brief description under the larger, main line of text.
I'm only planning to run this on Windows 7, so I don't need to worry about backwards compatibility with older versions of Windows
I'm new to visual basic & have learned many new things in such a short period of time from being on the MSDN forums. I have learned particularly in the subject of automating web browsing control using the getattributes etc., but I have tried everything that I have seen in the forums to auto click the "Settings" link in a created gmail account and then have the browser automate the "Forwarding" to another gmail address. I haven't found a solution anywhere to accomplish this.

I have a piece of software with two tabs, inside each tab there are buttons (the user can add the buttons when they want). when tab1 is full tab2 should start to fill. I currently know how many buttons fit on the screen so I just say something like if buttons > 150 then start to populate tab 2 The problem i have now though is if the resolution is changed then a different amount of buttons can be displayed. so if I put my screen to 1280x720 some buttons are left of. I was thinking of detecting the resolution and then using different cases for different resolutions but this seems very inefficient im wondering if there is a different way?

However, I would like to be able to call the *javascript:parent.__doPostBack('Close','')* method from the code-behind file rather than the user clicking the link. I.e., when I have completed my tasks in the application code, call parent.doPostBack as my last function call, which closes the window in question.
When a button is clicked i am creating HTML that will be displayed in the WebBrowser1 control. With this HTML are several links to other pages. Is it possible that when one of these links is clicked, that WebBrowser2 navigates to the page instead of WebBrowser1?

What I would like to do is to have four different buttons (e.g., buttonA, buttonB, buttonC and button D). I wanna give the following instruction to the people: press these buttons in the following order: first buttonA, then buttonB, then buttonC and last buttonD. If they obey this instruction then a picture will be displayed, for instance a happy face. All the other combinations will not activate this picture to be displayed, or in other words, there won't be any consequence. I would also like to save this data using windows note pad e.g., writeline (1, xxxxxx). Is there any chance I will make it?

i need to get some buttons to interact with other buttons on screen when i click then, as each indivual button gives a slightly different result.imagine this:[code]....
then i need then to hide different buttons depending on which button was pressed. so say i pressed button 1 then all the buttons showed but alternativly if i had of pressed 2 then say button 5 and 6 disapear.managed to get one way to work but then i would only ever end up with the first results every time.
My VB application is behaving strangley. I have form with fairly large number of controls. I am using case against radio buttons. after curtain number of buttons, it stops responding to more radio buttons.
Then I tried to split controls in to 2 form but now my form.showdialog() too now working properly. It takes new from names but show the old form when running.

View 3 RepliesI have 7 Windows forms.The order of the forms is defined within a configuration file.I want to place buttons on each form that will show the next available options.The Next button will move the next form in the list.The Back button will move to the previous form in the list. The Finish button will execute the final piece of code.The Cancel button will exit the application.If the user is on the first form, then there is no Back button.If the user is on the last form, then there is no Next button, but there is a Finish button.

so I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and I'm trying to make a program where I would have a textbox where the user would type,then a "Go" button. In the textbox, the user would type a number, lets go with 1 for an example. A user would type 1 in the textbox, then it would automatically add the 1 to the end of this .swf link: "http:[url]... after they enter the 1 in the textbox and press the "Go" button, it would add the 1 to the end of that link, then that link would open a new shockwaveflash form with the link being the Movie. So I am making a gambling game to better learn VB, and I am wanting to know the best way to link a players name with his pot.Currently I have a My.Setting's setup with a String var that holds the players names.Names = John, Greg, Bob..That is how the My.Setting.Names is setup. So I split them with a , and parsed them with a For statement.
