Load The Files In A Folder Into A Box And Display The Songs Info Into A List View?
Feb 23, 2010
Okay I'm making a song organizer and I have a program that will load the files in a folder into a box and display the songs info into a list view. That part works fine but when you click the button to make it do anything it will get the variables that it need from the tags on the cells for each song but for some reason the one for the Album just disappears... I tried having it just show the value in a message box and it works fine. Just when I try to combine it with another variable then it wont show at all. Heres my code
I need to browse a file and copy the file from one location to another. I am done with the file copying but I need to add the list of all files present under that folder in a control( dont know which control to use) and it shud be a link....so that when the user clicks that link it should open the file with that reader...
Suppose a pdf file shud be opened by the pdf reader.[code...]
I'm new to the Vb.net. To display the list of files in the given folder, need to processing the files one by one based on the user given the order/arrangement in form based interface.
How can do this in vb.net 2005 or any suggestion.?

I have made this installation program and everything work just fine, but I wish to improve it a little. Atm. all the files being installed is in a seperate folder, and the installation program simply move them to the right location. There is a builder program too.I would like it to add all files from a list to the programs resource.folder instead of a seperate folder.Atm I add the installation file to the destination folder with the following line. [code]
Private Sub Button6_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button6.Click If FolderBrowserDialog1.ShowDialog = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then End If End Sub
I have managed to get drag and drop working if this is any help:
Private Sub ListBox1_DragEnter(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As _ System.Windows.Forms.DragEventArgs) Handles ListBox1.DragEnter If e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop) Then
Basically I am trying to enable the user the ability to select a folder and the folders music files populate a list box. I want two list boxes on the page, one with all the contents of the folder and then the other one for files selected from the first box. I have no clue on how to do this at all...
i want to be able to view files like window explorer does.. i have tried a webbrowser, except i don't like the left side menu in the windows explorer unless it shows folders. in my case, i would like to add folder icons. reply in detail if the code is complicated, on what actual toolbar items and imports do i need to do such.

I'm making a simple app that will need some DLLs that I'm using, but I don't want them to be in the same place as the main exe.How can I make my app to load these dlls from a specified folder, like %mainappfolder%filesdlls ?
In it, I'd like text, not files, just plain text that can be saved to a file.I can make the saving part, and everything else, I just have no idea what it's called or how to add one to my form.
I have a music player, and i can add songs to a play-list, but i was wondering if you can make only the song name show up, and not the entire file path?
this is the code i have on form load: textbox1.text ="C:Documents and SettingsOwnerDesktop"
here's the code to load the listbox:
ListBox1.Items.Clear() Dim filepath As String = (textbox1.text) My.Application.DoEvents() Try For Each file As String In My.Computer.FileSystem.GetFiles _
[Code]...
now what this does is load the files w/out the file path or extensions , but, it loads the files in the subfolders as well . i just need the desktop files to load in the listbox, not the subfolder files
very simply i have a listview that has 3 colums date - filename - url when the selectedindex changes on the list view i want it to be displayed in my picture box.
I'm using this code to search a msacces db and display the data in a listview. The Search is fired after the text_changed event of a textbox. So each character is a search and also each backspace(here's where the real pain is) it will search. When I use backspace its very very slow! When I use 100 or even a 1000 records no problem but this db has 10.000 + records.Whitch event can I use to solve this problem or how can I adjust the code for faster search? ALs o when I test on a windows7 system, dualcore, 2gb memory, when I press a key it will take time before I see the character in the textboxs? Its a new system and only runs this program.I use a texbox to enter for example an artist name and a combobox where the user can choose to search on artis, title, genre etc. [code]
A customer of mine wants to list all the files in a particular folder in excel. It seems like a fairly simple idea and i have tried one set of code but it takes forever to run (15-20 mins). There must be a simple way of running some kind of vb procedure to get a list of files and stick it in a csv/xls file.
I want to display files or folder in a ListView. Now the code is working well. The only thing is all files are display in the first row. I want the files are shown up line by line. It means the first file name is on the first row. The second file name is on the second row etc.
Private Sub BrowseButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BrowseButton.Click If FolderBrowserDialog1.ShowDialog() = Windows.Forms.DialogResult.OK Then
I can't find any way of loading all files with e.g (.txt) from a specific directory: C:UsersChristianDocumentsMy Logs I use Visual Basic 2008 .NET, this is how I try to get it:
1. When the form loads it should retrieve the full path and title of the files and then put them in the List View control.
2. When the user marks one file in the list view and then clicks a button the text content should be displayed in a multi line textbox.
I need to require the user of this program to select two text files from any directory. I then need to display them in a List View, which I have built. File 1 needs to load into the first column and File 2 needs to load into the second. They will correspond to each other.[code]...

I'm trying to figure out how to list all files of an FTP folder in a listview but I can't figure out how to do this. I tried using the same approach as if I were to list contents of a folder in my harddrive. But this fails.
I thought of something like this (in vb.net, but I'm sure c# is pretty similar):
[Code]...
But I'm not sure what I'm doing during the "For Each" loop.
