Basically what I want is to have a program that you can load a txt file in, have it copy key words, and paste it in a textbox so I can use it later on. So in this text file, there is a bunch of info, but I am only needing a certain part. Here is an example of a text file (actually a .dat file, but is easily read):

Load A Csv File (A Comma Delimited Text File) Into A Datatable?
May 11, 2010I want to load a csv file (A comma delimited text file) into a datatable. I found the OdbcDataAdapter Class which looks perfect, but it says it is supported only in version 1.1 of the .NET Framework.
Is there a better way to import a csv file into a datatable? the first line has the column headers.
I am using Visual Studio 2008, using version 3.5 of the .NET framework

Aug 16, 2010I am exporting data from vb.net to excel and it is dropping the leading zero when its displayed on excel. How can I avoid the dropping of leading zero? I read the solution of adding a single quote but it makes my excel sheet column ugly. Also users will complain if they see a single quote on zip code field.vb.net code

I use:Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop as well as a Reference from the "COM" tab called "Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library"
I built my program then copied the .exe from the inDebug folder to a location on my company's server. Feb 28, 2010I'm trying to figure out some Excel automation. I have a form set up so the user can click on a label to open an Excel file (as a background process I guess) so the file isn't actually visible. Once they click on the "Convert to Count" button it will multiply all the values in Column B by 1,250 and put the output in Column C. Once it has finished this action, it makes the file visible so the user can choose to save it or not. Also, some users have Excel 2003 and some have 2007. Would it be possible to be able to load both xls and xlsx?[URL]..I must say I am very new with .NET and have a little bit of knowledge with VB6. I'm not sure where to even begin. I've looked up some ways to load an excel file but couldn't get it to work the way I need it to. Most of the ways I found were loading the file into a DataGridView. I don't want to use a DataGridView if I don't have to. Some of the files the users might be loading could have 10,000+ rows and that would take too long I think.

May 19, 2009I'm using XamlWriter, XML Transform (with XSLCompiledTransform), and XamlReader to create deep copies of a user control with multiple user controls and lots of inheritance.
I have it working and am using it in my Print and Print Preview logic. The problem is that it's SLOW and I need to speed it up. Currently when the user selects Print Preview it takes about three seconds for the view to display. I need to reduce this to less than one second!

I need the program to load the txt file, and randomly select a word. Then have the program put a " - " for every letter in that word The program loads the txt file,to the multiline textbox,but I don't know what to put next. EDIT:After looking at my book i noticed it shows how to make a hangman program, but without loading a text file. So, all I need is the code that will make it select a word randomly from the list, and i think I can do the rest..

Oct 23, 2009I have a very urgent project due for Monday and I am trying to implement a very simple Windows Application for viewing files.
One of the requirements is to store the history of images accessed and provide a navigation tool for those images logged into the history.
I have been successful in logging/saving the full system absolute path to a text file. Now it is to be able to navigate through the lines.
I figured I could do this by first counting up the amount of lines in the text file after a new image has been loaded to the display and added to the text file[history] and
Then using the count on the history file of total files to either decrease or increase the number as appropriate to load into the image file the previously written absolute file paths as the new images.
I am writing in Visual Basic using VB 2008 express edition and I can't seem to figure out how to count the lines in the text file and sub sequentially manipulate the line being read to display the image.
