Load File From Excel?

Apr 19, 2012

At this point my program needs to load two files from excel which I have done manually in the

Private Sub Excel_Load_L_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
APP1 = New Excel.Application

[Code].....

I'm looking for a way to get the user to choose the file path, ideally with a message box they can browse from rather than just setting up

workbook1 = APP1.Workbooks.Open(TextBox1)

where the user has to find the file path personally.

Could Not Load File Or Assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel'?

Apr 16, 2010

I have a program that reads data from excel.

I use:Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop as well as a Reference from the "COM" tab called "Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library"

I built my program then copied the .exe from the inDebug folder to a location on my company's server. I then double clicked the .exe and it ran as I expected it would.My boss then tried (from another computer) and he gets this error:See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

Office Automation :: Load Excel, Perform Operations And Then Show File?

Feb 28, 2010

I'm trying to figure out some Excel automation. I have a form set up so the user can click on a label to open an Excel file (as a background process I guess) so the file isn't actually visible. Once they click on the "Convert to Count" button it will multiply all the values in Column B by 1,250 and put the output in Column C. Once it has finished this action, it makes the file visible so the user can choose to save it or not. Also, some users have Excel 2003 and some have 2007. Would it be possible to be able to load both xls and xlsx?[URL]..I must say I am very new with .NET and have a little bit of knowledge with VB6. I'm not sure where to even begin. I've looked up some ways to load an excel file but couldn't get it to work the way I need it to. Most of the ways I found were loading the file into a DataGridView. I don't want to use a DataGridView if I don't have to. Some of the files the users might be loading could have 10,000+ rows and that would take too long I think.

Open Excel File, "clean" Data, Load Into Datatable

Dec 19, 2007

I'm using VB Microsoft Visual Studio to try to open an excel file, clean a column of data, then load into a datatable for use by program (enter Excel data into Reflections, process / screenscrape, enter data into Access db).

I can load the data into a datatable just fine, but I'm having problems figuring out how to open the excel file BEFORE it's loaded into the datatable so I can "Clean" a column of data the program reads from that can potentially have hidden characters. Below is what I have so far.

Sub SelectnLoadExcelFile(ByRef errFlag)

Asp.net Using Oledb To Export Excel File Returns Empty Excel File

Feb 24, 2010

I am using asp.net oledb to export information to excel file. I encounter problems when the information to export becomes too big, in this case the code I have given below, the excel file generated becomes an empty spreadsheet.If I changed the loop to 1123 for insertion of the rows. The generated excel file is fine, 1125 rows, and 4 columns shown.A test program in windows form is also working fine regardless of how many rows.[code]I couldn't find a solution to my problem as well. What I did eventually was to run the process using another separate windows service. The code works perfectly fine running from a windows form or service program, but not asp.net, not sure why.

Excel As A Database Backend To Load Into A Datagridview

How To Load A Datagridview With Data From Excel (dynamically)

Feb 7, 2010

I was wondering if there is any way to load data from excel sheet into a datagridview in VB2008 dynamically. I have looked at few data connection codes but all of them involve the excel sheet and thw workbook name. Is there anyway that I enter the excel sheet name in a inputbox and the data from excel loads into datagridview without hardcoding the sheet name. I know data can be imported using the below code, here the programmer has to mention the excel workbook name, path and sheet name. [code]I am developing a program to perform some calculations and my data is in a number of excel workbooks and worksheets. I need to be able to bring the data from these excel sheets into the datagridview to perform calculations. So I was thinking if I could mention the excel sheet name in the GUI and then accordingly the data from that particular sheet would be loaded into the datagridview to perform calculations.

Open Excel File And Reusing Existing Excel Instance?

Jul 13, 2010

I have an application the contains several excel files bundled with it. I'm not opening the files and processing them within my application. These files contain a data-connection to reload all of the pivot-tables within each excel file. I have a 'link' on my form, that when clicked, it determines which file to open and calls a sub using filename and executing Process.Start(filename) for any excel file I want to open. I have no problems opening any one of the files and then exiting excel.

The problem is when I 'close' a file, but don't exit Excel; then try to open another file(clicking link on form)... it creates a new instance of Excel.

I know from experimenting that the fileopendialog form will 'reuse' an existing Excel instance, IF it does not already have a file open.

How can I do the same thing without using the fileopendialog?

I don't want the end-user to have access to the folders where these files live. That's why I have multiple 'links' on my form, one for each xls that already exists. I just want them to be able to click on a link and the xls file opens AND if they choose to merely 'close' a file and not exit... Don't create a new instance of Excel, but re-use the existing one.
