I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP. At first I couldn't add a datasource (the .mdf file for the database) because of a "Operating system error 32" which I seemed to have resolved by giving myself full permissions for .mdf file (by right clicking on the file and going into properties and then Security) and restarting the SQL SERVER (SQLEXPRESS) service. The dataset for the database is in my solution explorer but when I right click on a table adapter to add a query and attempt to open up the query builder, I get the error in the title above.
I'm using Visual Basic Express 2010 and SQL Express 2008 in Windows XP.I created a database on my local PC HDD. I created a SQL DB named MainDB.mdf and a small VB 2010 application with some forms and datasets.Everything was working OK until i got a new computer and re-installed Visual Studio 2010 and SQL server 2010 on it. I copied my DB from the old to the new computer and also copied by VB 2010 project to it. I used Windows Authentication to connect to the DB in the old computer and also in the new one, i am using different Windows user account names though.
I was able to connect to the DB in the new computer in the Server Explorer section, i created a new connection string to the DB and i can seed there is data in the tables. When i run my VB 2010 application created in the old computer get error:
"Cannot open database "MainDB" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'D630Admin'."
I need to get rid of that error and be able to add/mod/del data from my DB using my VB application as i used to.
I am trying to make a database with multiple users and encryption on the user data. So far I am able to create multiple users, but I can't find anything that is descriptive enough to help me with the encryption idea. From what I've seen MD5 is the easiest to implement in VB.NET, and easy for me as I don't want to use any external DLL's to make this happen. Here is the code so far:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click On Error GoTo A Dim Username As New System.IO.StreamReader(CurDir() & "/" & TextBox1.Text & ".txt") Dim Username2, Password As String
[code]....
This looks in the directory of the program for a text file with a username and a password. I'd really like a way to encrypt this data, so the program can read it, but anyone snooping around can't.
Alright I am trying to make a little login system with encryption. I am trying to see if the user entered in there encryption key, if they did then they can input there account. Same thing with the password textbox. If they already entered in there encryption key then let them type in there password. I am trying to make it so if there text in encryption key then let them type in there account or if they didn't then let them put it in then let them type in there account.
Dim AccountInfo As String Dim PasswordInfo As String Dim EncryptionKey As String 'account textbox [Code] .....
how to display the user name based on successful login id i have one database table name: UserMark in the table:
UserId UserLogin Password Fullname SurveyId
i have login.aspx page which required me to enter login id and password, if sql success, it will redirect the page to home.aspx however, at the home. aspx page required to display the full name based on login id.i place the code on login button
Private Sub btnLogin_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnLogin.Click strSQL = "SELECT LoginID FROM UserMark WHERE LoginID='" & oCommon.FixSingleQuotes(txtEmail.Text) & "' AND Pwd='" & oCommon.FixSingleQuotes(txtPassword.Text) & "'"
I have a login control in my asp.net webform i uses the roles manager...i have two roles admin and vendors i want when user enter username and password in login control then on login button click event it validates either the user is admin or vendors if vendor is admin then it will redirect to default.aspx other wise stay on login page with error. ...how to do this using vb.net ?
how can i login when user type password and they press enter that login code can be activiate. What event can be using for this, i m using button_click event. need textbox typed value and press enter it should be login to that next form.
Alright, So with this game I am Making with VB I am Confused on how to make the login system to make the registered user to login to his character automatically other then having to make a new character? Here is my login System code not much[code].....
I'am trying to make a login system with the dll. I want the .dll file to have the password inside of it and make another interface window that the user can login in.
I am using the code from the following link. Basically I am using the built in functions in visual basic for encryption (Cryptography). Seeing as there is a lot of code for it, I posted a link to the code I am using.

I get what this is doing and how it is doing it...for the most part. My question is how do you let the user set the key to be used instead of it randomly generating one? One of the reasons I want this over the random key is that the user will be able to remember it easier and the key generated sometimes has weird characters in it that not everyone will no how to use. I have tried everything I can think of.
The encryption works good, all I am using it for is to encrypt/decrypt a text document. If this is not too good of an encryption, that does not matter as I am not using it to encrypt any highly sensitive information. All I need is a way to be able to allow the user to set the key, but every time I try to pass a string through the encryption() method instead of a generated key (in the generateKey() method) it will give me an error.
I'm a complete beginner to programming alone, let alone VB.net. What I need to do is encrypt a block of text inputted by a user using a keyword that will also be inputted by the user. This is all to be done using ciphertext, so naturally the user would be informed the keyword can not have any repeating characters. I figure the English alphabet will be predefined in capitals and lowercase, then the keyword will be read character by character, removing those characters from the alphabet array and then appending them to the end of it (to create the new encrypted alphabet). How to read the keyword character by character, and then removing the corresponding letter from the alphabet. The best I can think is to check each character of the keyword against each character of the array which I'm sure is much more work than I need to do.
I Have my program working beautifully when localhost, I can login to a specified user from my "Mysql" database. However when I try connecting from another computer I can't connect. Here is my code so you know what I am working with.
Imports MySql.Data.MySqlClient Imports System.Data Module mdlDataConn Public conn As New MySqlConnection
I am currently working with VB.net 2005. I am trying to create a login form and use a text file as a database to login. The part login form is fine but i can't connected to the text file. When i use my coding with a database such as access or mysql is work fine.
How do I create a Login Verification routine (Login Form) in vb.net . i have an windows application with login form contain user name , password , ok button and cancel button .
as this one:
Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class LoginForm1 ' OK button
[Code].....
but i want to run my application from desktop and will get confirmation if the user name and password correct by checking them in MS Access Database in the server.
so the the application in the desktop and the tabel of user name and password in the server.
Dim sqlConn As New SqlConnection("Server=.\SQLEXPRESS;uid=;pwd=;database=ContactManager") sqlConn.Open()
Above is my connection string, The programs runs up until sqlConn.Open() and then i get the same error, using no UID and Pass, or using a uid and pass.
Login Failed For User ''. The user is not associated with a trusted sql server connection
I have the SQL Servers authentication se to Windows Authentication and SQL Authentication. I'm using Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005.
I have been trying to solve this for 2 days now, every text book I own and google have been well and truely exhausted and I am still no closer to solving my problems.I have a login facility reading in user info from a main user file. This takes all info into a temp array and then splits usernames into a username file, passwords into a password file and a current score in a score file.
I have the login working fine and everything else in my program works as intended but touching up cosmetic aspects I want to add a Message box after login to say hello and display current score. This works great for the first name in the user file i.e - after login User1 welcome to the game. Your current score is 45 As intended. But the problem arises with any other users, my message comes out as
User2 welcome to the game. Your current score is 55 I do not understand where the random new lines are coming from. I have tried assigning the message as a variable and removing new line using
My purpose is to encrypt the database so that it cannot be open independently without using the application. my application should still be able to access it read/write.
In my application I have a several type of user could be log in. My purpose is to have a restriction with other menu to show on or off. In php I used a session to handle that user id. In vb.net how can assign user id and retrieve anytime I need it in every user that has been logged in, so that I can check the user type and do some action.
I have the lines above to login by database. However, I really don't know why always give me the error: "Incorrect fields". I am 120% sure that all the fields of the table are right, including the text that I put into my textboxs. I have already add a user into the database. I can make login in PHP but in VB.NET I just can't.
Try Dim MySQLConnection As New MySqlConnection("server=localhost; user id=root; password=; database=DB") Dim MySQLQuery As String = "SELECT * FROM TableLogin WHERE Username = @username AND Password = @password"
[CODE]...
I already tried to show the data of the database into a Datagridview and it works fine, it displays to me all the rows that I had add in the database.
I followed below attached tutorial but I got this error: Cannot open database "mydb" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NAME OF COMPUTER FOR THE NETWORKUsername'. Second question: When I deploy my application which communicates with SQL server, should I put in the installation file SQL server? If I need to deploy and SQL server, I have to configure server, right? P.S.I use SQL 2005. I changed Authentication Mode of the SQL server to: SQL Server and Windows Authentication mode.
I have set up a method in vb.net and in xcode for encrypting a string using as far as i can tell the same parameters for an AES encryption.I've looked all over the place but cannot find information on whether they use the same encryption algorithm and settings.
this is the vb.net code:
Dim encryptAES As New AesCryptoServiceProvider() Dim encoding As New UTF8Encoding() Dim encryptor As ICryptoTransform encryptAES.Key = encoding.GetBytes("12345678901234567890123456789032") encryptAES.IV = encoding.GetBytes("1234567890123416") encryptAES.Mode = CipherMode.CBC
Using VB.Net and SQL Server 2005 I have a login page in Windows based application, Once login, in the next page the user name should display in the menu. For Example, In a Admin Login, the Admin should display in the MDI From menu In a User Login, the User name should display in the MDI From menu...
I'm working on an app that aggregates information for the user (eg. get search results from yahoo, google, etc. and put them in one window), but requires a logon/ authentication. Do you guys know how this can be done with asp.net or other windows server languages?
