I need to make a super simple web-page monitoring tool in VB.Net that checks FieldNation.com every few minutes for new work orders. To do that, I need to log in to their page. I think I can figure out how to read the page once I'm logged in, but how can I actually log in? I heard it had something to do with WebClient.

I am trying to create an application that will login our company's intranet portal via a webpage. The webpage has a single frame in it that loads a secure(https) login form. After logging in, the application will need to read and send xml to and from the portal. I have been digging around and have seen a few different ways of submitting the login information from the program to the site, however, I have not gotten any of them to work. From what I can tell it is difficult to change the values of input boxes that are inside a frame. Am I accurate on this? There will be a large amount of data transfer between the app and the portal so I will need something lightweight but I have enough room that I would rather not reinvent the http/web-browser wheel if at all possible. The reason I say that is because I have read that some objects that handle web pages are very resource hungry. I have no preference on the .net frameworks as this is the area of VB thats kinda confusing. What I am looking for is either a point or violent shove in the right direction.

I am developing an intranet site using VB.net 2005. I have a list of reports and their URL's located in a table. The list is displayed to the user using a Gridview control with select turned on. when the user selects one , the selected index changed event triggers looking up the URL from the table and stores it in a session variable. the problem i have is that i now need to open a new web browser window and display the page.
I tried using the envDTE.ItemOperations.Navigate but all of the information provided for this process is written in VB6 and VB2003. In 2005 the DTE proces is not native and when you assigned the ENVDTE.Itemoperatiosn to a shared variable (or any type) and
then try to navigate you get the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
so i tried to create an instance but when i try:
ItemOp = DTE.ItemOperations or
ItemOp = EnvDTE.ItemOperations
it gives me an error indicating that this is not possible. My quesion is, does anyone have the correct syntax for using the envDTE.ItemOperations.Navigate instruction from Visual Basic.Net 2005? None of the microsoft pages or microsoft books provide correct syntax. Or does anyone have any substitute code that can navigate a user from a protected sub in one page to a new web page?

Basically, it works improperly when try to log in on one web-site (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site). I am working with Visual Studio 2010 Professional. I created a simple WebBrowser trying to access the indicated web-site. The problem begins. Well, the website loads, but when you go to the login page (Forex Trading Social Network | Online Forex Trading Forum and Social Networking Site) and try to log in, it doesn't work. I need this to show any web page in overview as a image in my program, but I have no idea how to go about this. I suppose it would be almost like a web browser; other then that you can't click links or interact with the page at all, as it is an image. I would like to add a function to my vb.net code that would launch a browser in a form, load the manufacturer's login screen, load the user id, password and then let the user log in by clicking the login button.
