I am doing the following to change the color of a word in a RichTextbox, but it sorta has a bug in it, which I'm not sure what to do with it.

when i copy code from vb.net code window, and paste it in my richtextbox, the color synthax is as it displays in my vb.net code window.. this i want to keep when finding and replacing words. i have the following code to find and replace,
RichTextBox1.Text = RichTextBox1.Text.Replace("Private Sub", "<font color=blue>Private Sub</font>")
but the color syntax of the richtextbox code is lost, looks like a textbox's text.. how do i replace the words and keep the synthax coloring?
I've been trying to get syntax highlighting for a RichTextBox.I am struggling trying to code it myself, so I looked around a bit, and found a cool .dll file called ColorCode.
[URL]
So I went into my project and imported the ColorCode.dll file. (Project>Add Reference)However, I don't know how to use it!?Is there anyone out there that has used this .dll file? How can I use it to get Syntax Hilighting in RichTextBox1?
I have a richtextbox on my form and currently have made a simple syntax highlighting for it. It works great with a small amount of text but as the text amount increases it starts flashing and locks the textbox while typing.
This is my current code. I call the sub on the textchanged event.Basically what happens is I have a list of words that it checks for and if it finds it, it colors the word.

I'm building an app that has an sql editor with syntax highlighting and intellisense. I've got the frame, but i'm stuck with the re-coloring of the RTBSuppose the RTB has got a large volume of lines. when i start editing, the on-textchange event triggers the re-coloring of the current line. using;
- selectionStart
- selectionLength
- selectionColor

I am currently working on a code editor program for Linden Scripting Language (Second Life Code) and I am having a lot of trouble using the Syntax Highlighting class which i have found on a website [URL] I dont understand, the Class inherits the System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox so it should change the color of the text if i type one of the keywords shouldnt it and i should not have to do any codeing for the RTB (or do i?)
View 5 RepliesI have the following
Private Sub RichTextBox1_TextChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles RichTextBox1.TextChanged
Dim words As List(Of String) = New List(Of String)(New String() {"select", "insert", "delete", "truncate", _
"from", "where", "into", "inner", "update", "outer", "on", "is", "declare", "set", "use", "values", "as", _
[code]....
The only problem is that if I type one of the key words, the word highlights, but if i type a word with one of the key words within it, part of it gets highlights as well.Example:
drop
dropped
I want to search as text is entered into a text box. All works as it should. When the search highlights the first character of the string then ALL following searches have this same color.
For example: I have a listbox with a list of titles. As I move through the titles the RTB displays the story line associated with the title.
RTB = "A big brown box and an apple is the mystery" Search for "a" (All conversions to common case) will highlight all the "a"s. BUT when I click on the next title, ALL the text is now highlighted.
There have been many variations tried and all without success.
I have a textbox for the search string I have a listbox with a list of titles I have a RTB with text associated with each listbox title.
Private Sub FindAll(RTB As RichTextBox, ByVal StartPos As Integer, ByVal SearchText As String)
Do
[Code]......
Types have their own color (cyan by default).Enter completes the auto-complete suggestion.

Ok, Im developing a scripting tool for the program "FPS Creator". The scripting uses of course commands which are split into to groups (Action and Condition)
Anyway to the point :
I need the Actions and Conditions to be coloured so the user knows when the command is correct or incorrect.
Windows forms .net 4.0 vb application. This is a small trivial thing but I was trying to just change the color of one word in label.text. But its not happening and I have a strong feeling that to make it happen is going to be more extensive than its worth... A snippet of what I am trying to use is below...
Dim _changeLabel1 As String = " Note Fields Marked in "
Dim _changeLabel2 As String = " are Required"
Dim _attrib As New Label

I have a WPF RichTextBox which contain in its FlowDocument both text and images. I need to iterate through the text's words (those which builds the text which the user see on the screen) and change their content and formatting. For instance, change the word "room" to the word "home", applying to the last a red color.
I need to change words whether they are formatted or unformatted. For instance, if a word is in Italic, colored, or just regular black text, it makes no difference for me.Each word will be replaced with one which have about identical length, so I don't want that this operation will effect the general page layout. All images and other objects should remain at their positions. It is preferred that the process of this operation will not be visible to the user. Only its result should be visible (i.e, no visible selections of text). If this operation can be done either directly on the FlowDocumet or with properties/methods of the RichTextBox, the simple one is preferred (but exmaples for both will be ideal).

I am adding characters to a RichTextBox one character at a time and setting the format of that character after it is added. The following code is a distillation of the actual code but reliably repeats the problem I am having. The code should place a Blue "S", a Red "S" and a Green "S" in to the RichTextBox when i = 3.
View 2 RepliesI need to set the color of the font every time I add text to the RichTextBox
I'm using. RtbResults.AppendText(DisplayPacket)
To add a new line of text, but each line needs to be a set color.I found this on the net but it doesn't seem to work in my VS11b RtbResults.AppendText(DisplayPacket, forecolor, backcolor, font)
Are these the correct overloads? can I do this another way if this doesn't work?I don't want to have to insert the text then go back and select and change its color.
Trying to change the color of more than one of the same text within a RichTextBox. [Code] The above code searches for, and changes the color of all "Boat"s found in the RichTextBox. There are a few problems, such as: If you were to go back to edit the RichTextBox and place your cursor in front of the, now blue word, "Boat" and type then all of your text would be blue. Also, the text you wish to change the color of in the RichTextBox MUST be Exactly the same as: "Search1", aka "Boat", capital letters and all.
