Make A ComboBox Of A DataGridViewComboBoxColumn Accept User New Items?

Using a DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, the goal is to make the ComboBoxes accept user's new items and also the possibility of choosing items that are already present.I'm aware of using EditingControlShowing event of the DataGridView to change the DropDownStyle of the DataGridViewComboBoxEditingControl at run time to allow this, but I'm wondering if this can be done at a lower level.
What I'm doing now is extending DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, DataGridViewComboBoxCell and DataGridViewComboBoxEditingControl, hoping to change the EditingControl's DropDownStyle in the moment I instantiate it. So far, no luck.The debugger shows the right assignment is being executed, but nonetheless, the DropDownStyle is popping at the EditingControlShowing (using the event for debugging purposes) as DropBoxList, not DropBox, which is the intent.

I'm having trouble with the Try...Catch code. I'm trying to make the textboxes only accept letters A, B, C, or D as answers from the user. I'm also having trouble matching the two arrays. I wanted it to be like if textbox1 is A then it is correct but in a loop. Please take a look at my code.

I have added a textbox and a combobox into the form. There are 2 buttons as Add and Remove. Everything works fine here but the problem is after addig/removing (using add/remove button) new items into the combobox, when I close it, the new items added/removed are gone. I need to save the new items added to the combobox during close. I can understand I have to create a Application Setting which will save the new items added to combobox upon closing. But I don't know which code I need to use? Below are the currently used code of this project.

I have on my form a combobox and a checkbox.What I want to do is when the user checks the checkbox all the values contained in combobox will be selected. So a multi-select for all items of combobox when the checkbox is checked.I tried this:

My application is in VS2008 and coded in VB.net.
I have a datagridView(DGV) on one of my form.DGV contains a column of type DatagridViewComboboxColumn.I have another column of SrNo.
Consider Table1 to be the table from where my DatagridView is filled which contains following fields SrNo,Value1,Value2.
My requirement is i want to fill the values in my DatagridViewComboboxColumn from Table1.The DatagridViewComboboxColumn's combobox should contain values of columns Value1,Value2 of Table1.
Sample data of Table1
SrNo Value1 Value2
1 2 3
2 4 5
As data in datagridView is filled from Table1 the data of SrNo column of Table1 is also populated in one of the column of DGV.
Now my DatagridViewComboboxColumn combobox should contain the values of Value1 and Value2 of Respective SrNo.
Like Row one of my DGV has SrNo 1 as first value,so the Value1 and Value2 of SrNo 1 should be added to the row's DatagridViewComboboxColumn.

So grouping is not an option - all items must be there, users must be able to select from all.The problem is, DataGridViewComboBoxColumn becomes painfully slow, when number of items is about 1000, and above. This issues is well known to Microsoft, it dates back to Visual Studio 2005: [URL]...The problem is still present in Visual Studio 2010. Any ideas how to solve this?

I mean (that was functionality fully working in Access), when you click DataGridViewComboBoxColumn, some items are displayed (lets say, 100 items). When you scroll down to the latest item, others are loaded (another 100) and so on. I don't see any other option to make DataGridViewComboBoxColumn working faster? Problem is, how to implement this? Has anyone meet that problem before?

I am trying to create a basic quoting tool but got stuck on how to clear and change the item collection from within a combobox for a datagrid.What we have is a list of 4 columns like a. Device b.TypeofService c.State d.Price Inside a sql database. Data is also structure like above as well.
I have a datagridview where the user will populate a,b,c and the price will be display and a total at the end. However a,b, and c aren't related in my current application. The combobox will show all possible dinstinct values for each column.
This works fine but I want to refine the application to only show the values of b. which are in the database after the user select the value for a. I have tried searching on how to do this as I assume to the Contry/State/City situation but could not find anything for a datagridview control in VB.NET.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I cannot do this dynamically from within a datagridview I was thinking of maybe creating three combo box outside and having it populating the datagridview afterwards but it wouldn't be as nice.

I'd like to force a user to make a selection from a combobox.I've tried to test it by Combobox.SelectedText = String.empty as well as another version similar to this but a little different.When I test it, it will tell me that it is still unselected/blank even when I selected something.

How do we make a visual basic listbox to respond directly when the user clicks on the items in the textbox? (such as making a menu appear or displaying info in a label when the items are clicked)
I have used the SelectedIndexChange event but nothing happens when the listbox items are clicked. The SelectedIndexChange event only seems to work when a button is added. It seems that the button's click event gets the listbox's selectedindex change event to start working. The listbox's textchanged event doesnt seem to work also.
Is there any way to make the listbox respond directly to the user's clicks without the use of button controls?

I am trying to bind a datagridview to a data source using a dataset.I am populating the grid view using the fill method however when I changed One of the columns to DataGridViewComboBoxColumn instead of a regular textbox It gave me errors. the user need to select numbers from that combobox and I want to set the first number that the user see from my database and then he can change the numbers as he wants after changing he can save the changes.Does someone knows how to populate the datagridview using the fill method and saving the changes using the insert or update method when the grid view contains a ComboBoxColumn

I am trying to figure out how to make a program which can accept switches like cmd.exe /k or /c basically i want it to accept commands by myapp.exe /c mycommand.i tried searching and googling but no luck. Also is there a way to run a function like that? And if anyone is wondering why then basically i am copying a script to my domain computer and executing it. This i already have done but problem is its just getting too much copyin multiple scripts and executing i would put everything in on and run em by switches.

I am trying to make a textbox accept on the numbers 1-4 & the backspace key. The numbers part is working fine, but it will not delete the number once it's inputted into the box using backspace. Here's my existing code:

I've got a little function that just changes empty and null strings to "null":

I added the bit about DBNull because sometimes it gets null values from a database. This doesn't work, though, because it won't take DBNull as a parameter.I tried changing the stringValue parameter from a string to an object, but then the If statement gives this error:
