View 22 RepliesIm trying to make the an icon for the form work with my own icon, because all programs have their own(like ie hat the e and paint.net has their logo), but whenever I put in my icon phote(and it is saved as .Ico) it comes up with the error: Argument 'picture' must be a picture that can be used as an icon. I have the same measurments as the defult one(32 by 32) so what am i doing wrong?

But when i use SystemParametersInfo in my program to set the wallpaper so i can see how it looks on screen, the wallpaper no long change like a slideshow. How can i display an image in the background but keep the current desktop background setting unchanged so that it will stay a slideshow on the location it was set?

If I use a 32x32 icon, the 16x16 icon in the window becomes blur
If I use a 16x16 icon, the 32x32 icon in the taskbar becomes blur
I tried using a multi resolution icon but I can't get the program to use the different resolutions of it.
I want to make a simple screensaver but I looked at what others suggested on how to change screen resolutions and it seems a bit much. So I'm hoping their is a simple way to accomplish this task. Basicly I want the screen to fill reguarless of your screen resolution with the background image coded in the source code. I know the picture will look funny on large resultions but its a sample code Im making, so i'm not worried about streatching a image.My thought was do something to detect window bounds or something.

View 16 RepliesI tried a few different way but just can't see to get it. Seems if I set the parent icon to what I want, selected and unselected, it also changes the children. What I am after is to have a parent icon that does not change regardless if it is selected or unselected. But the children will follow the icons for selected and unselected. If I don't add a third icon it all works fine, so how do I add one to parent but not change the children?

View 2 RepliesI wish to make a wallpaper changer that can select a random wallpaper from a given directory and sub directories. I'm not asking for code at this point, I'd like a reality check to see how hard this could be. I'm still quite a newbie at VB so I just wanna check if what I'm thinking process wise would work.The basic thing I'd like to do is have it pick one picture out of a given dir and sub dirs. Then set it as the wallpaper. I'd like it to be resized if larger than the desktops resolution to fit inside it, no stretching cropping or stuff.
That's the simple things I'd like it to do. Unfortunately I have dual monitors so it'd have to pick two wallpapers, resize each one independently, stick them together, and then set the wallpaper. I'd also like to make a kind of simple database which would have the name of each pic and two values with it. I'd like a value to mark if it's been used already which would be reset when all pictures have been used. The second would be a simple tag. This way i could have all car wallpapers listed as tag 1 and all non-car wallpapers listed as tag 2. Then I could chose whether to use all or only tagged wallpapers.
iv been making a automatic wallpaper changer useing the timer, listbox, and picturebox , it works, untill i minimize it then it stops changeing the background, but when i maximize it it has actually moved down the listbox of pictures each time so the timer must be working when minimized, just it doesnt change the wallpaper when its maximized it always works,

View 2 RepliesMy FormLoad event contains a simple line which is Me.Hide. Then I make the tray icon visible so the application can be shown if the user needs it. However, the Me.Hide statement doesn't work during the form load procedure. It seems to work fine after the form has been loaded. View 6 RepliesI found some great code on capturing webcam images but the problem is the client PC will need to initiate the communication to this server (click Connect to server IP). This is like 2 way communication.How can i do something like this (door Kiosk system):when a visitor press a button on the LCD that come along a web cam (this will be the server), it will send the signal the client PC that is installed with the application i've created (window form) and pop up the images to the client PC (more like a 1 way communication). This image is captured through the web cam on the server to capture the visotor's image waiting outside of the door. How to do this?I'm really stuck as i'm not familiar with window API programming yet.

The problem is that I'm not sure how to reference a specific icon location in a icon collection in a dll.Is this possible with Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon and shell32.dll?
