Sep 6, 2009
1- I want to know how can i make a program that's show My computer , my documents , control panel ,my musics, my pictures and my recent documents. 2- I have Made A file extension that i have named it ".fff" . _ I have a form that's contains A text box that i have named it "txtmain" when i creating the setup project i have make a file type and when i want to click on the file extension the program is running but there's no text in the text box but when i running the file in Notepad it's
I am trying to make a program that will compare 2 documents. Idealy what this program would do would be to let the user define key words that he/she is looking for then hit the compare button and have those key words higlighted in both text documents. So far I have 2 button that paste stext into eather box and button that says compare this is my current code for the compare button
If tb1.Text = tb2.Text Then MsgBox("compatible!", MsgBoxStyle.Information) this works great but it only works if the text is exactly the same I just want it to pick up on words that are the same in eather box and eather A. show a message box that tells the words that are the same or better yet B. have them highlighted. I want to do this as simply as possible so if we have to leave out the key words thats ok. I am a big noob and don't know too much about VB (although I came up with that basic code myself thats about all I can do XD) so please bare with me.
I have a combobox and a few user controls, and a panel (attached screenshot) now what i want to do is when i select a specific option in the combobox i want it to display a different user control in the panel.[code],...
I'm trying to make a label control transparent over a Panel control. However by setting the background colour of the label to Transparent, it actually sees right through to the form itself, not the panel as intended.
As an example we use a panel with a background as white, we make the label transparent, however it gets the forms colour as blue. However, we are using a custom panel control and need the label to be transparent over the panel and not see the forms background.

I am in the process of designing a computer control program to control a HF communications receiver (radio), and have found a problem with the Serial port. I am using VB Express Edition 2008. This module of the program is supposed to take an input string from another part of the program, format it, break it into 4 bytes, and send it to the radio in hex form via COM port 1. The problem comes in when you try to enter a frequency with an 8 or a 9 in it. The 8 or 9 is usually replaced by 45, ex.-input 9900, receiver tune 4545. The exact same thing happens with 8's, input 8800 and receiver tune 4545. All other numbers other than 8 or 9 work fine. The strange part of it is that sometimes the 8's and 9's work, and work correctly. For instance, 900, 1900, 2900, 3900, 4900, 5900, 6900, and 7900 all work correctly. This led me to believe that is may only be when the 8 or 9 is in the first position, but that is not the case, it also shows up in other positions as well. All other frequencies that do not have 8 or 9 in them also work. I ran into this same problem with VB Express 2005, and worked on it for weeks before giving up and going back to VB6.0. This same module (with exception of the port open command) runs flawlessly under VB6. I have even tried importing the MSCOMM control from VB6, but it gives the same results. In de-bugging mode, all of the inputs, decimal and hex seem to be correct, so the problem must come in after you click the command button, but before it leaves the COM port.
Well im not understanding to much about the panel control. I am not understanding on how to do this panel control put a textbox and button control in it, when the user selects load from Internet, you make the panel control visible, then use the textbox to get the URL from the user and the button to fire the event that makes everything happen
I am working on a project where I need to open microsoft word documents in a form with a panel (the document will be put into a panel).I found the code to try and use API, it would not recognize the file names (yes they are valid filenames).Tried a whole bunch of stuff. Here is my current incarnation:
Dim pi As New Process Dim i As IntPtr pi.StartInfo.FileName = FileName[code]....
It ALWAYS starts the word document in its own window and will not redirect it to my own program.I tried to redirect the output and it gave me a message that it was not a valid win32 application.
I'm working on a visual studio 2008 VB.Net project (.net framework 2.0), and am having some trouble with the Panel control using a fixedsingle border. As a small example of the problem, suppose I have one Panel2 contained inside of Panel1. If the Left position of panel2 is set to 0 (meaning it's border is up against the left edge of Panel1), the left border will show as bold, and slightly indented.
<Global.Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.DesignerGenerated()> _ Partial Class Form1 Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Form[code].....
What I'd like to see is just a single line, not bold or indented, where the two panels borders are equal. Is there a property or custom paint technique I could use to achieve this behavior?
I'd like to make sure that a program could run on a specific computer and get information like pc's identity. This way it won't be possible to run on another computer.
i want to make my program to where when you install it, it will automatically start up with your computer everytime, but will start up in the background to where you can't see it....is this possible?
I am trying to make a Christmas light animation via computer control. I am using VB.Net and have tried several examples I have found, but I get the same error: port is closed. The code I am using is this:
Imports System.IO.Ports Public Class Form1 Dim instance As New SerialPort
[Code].....
I have tried several things and I still get the error message that the port is closed.
I wan't to make a button in my program that opens it when the computer starts up but how would I do that? I am using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition.
I'd like to make a program that allows me to see what the current volume of my computer is. It would be nice if I could also hire and lower the volume with my program.
TempUserPath = My.Computer.FileSystem.SpecialDirectories.MyDocuments Returns the string "C:UsersOwnerDocuments" but that folder is actually named "My Documents" (i.e., is "C:UsersOwnerMy Documents" in the Finder). When I try to create a new folder called "Documents" in the Owner directory, Windows asks if I want to merge its contents with the My Documents folder. If I say yes, I am left with only the My Documents folder and none named "Documents".Thus when I attempt to read or write a file to the TempUserPath location, I get an "access denied" error. This happens even after I manually change the name of the folder from "My Documents" to "Documents".
I am trying to make a vb.net program which will perform WMI queries to check for remote computer's name and OS. I manage to do the first query of name using the code below..
[Code]...
I am getting error "Local variable 'query' is already declared in the current block. (BC30288)".I understand that I am using same name for the object variable for performing subsequent query. Is there a way in which I can dispose the variable completely and reuse it again for querying the new required WMI detail? My search in the net couldn't give me any clue as of how to clear the variable and use it again. The issue is with two variables "query" and "searcher". Is it only possible that I should give unique names to each query object variable as I might add more queries later on?
I would like to add an effect where a panel sweeps out of the way to make room for another panel. This is sort of like a sliding effect, and I think at one point in time this could be seen on Apple's website under their product pages. I came up with some code, but it isn't working.
I have created a menu item called "Windows", I want to list all open documents within that menu. This is the code I have so far.
'This sub routine lists all the open documents from a menu item Private Sub WindowsToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles WindowsToolStripMenuItem.Click MenuStrip1.MdiWindowListItem = WindowsToolStripMenuItem
My problem is that my "Windows" menu item does not show New Documents, it only lists saved documents that I open.
I am student of MCS and i am working on my final project i face some problems regarding to show cubes data in grid control in vb.net around with dimensions
