Jan 1, 2010What control should i use if i want a button with default text on it and when i press on it, it give a drop down menu that i can select different commands. I tried a combobox which seems to be very close to what i want. i set the dropdownstyle to dropdownlist so it looks like a button. but i cant seem to set a default text on the box and i dont want this text to be in the item list. also when i set the dropdownwidth to a value larger than the combobox width, it will align left.

Oct 21, 2011I would like my gridview to be filtered by the dropdown list I have. It is pulling specific information from the database, so when you choose a value from the dropdown list, it should search through all the records and find only records with the ddl value in them.
The code that I am using in the codebehind for the SelectedIndexChanged is not right though. I get an error message saying 'Value' is not a member of 'Integer'. This is on the line dsCompanyFilter.SelectParameters.Add
It probably has something to do with the gridview not tying to the dropdown list properly, but I am not sure how to fix that code.

How can I populate this dropdownlist? If I read the data with a datareader and increment an array I only get either the value or the text. This is what I have so far, but it is completely wrong:
