I am trying to make application that will calculate all that is nessesary for it and show to user a results for x1 and x2. And now I am stucked somewhere:
vb.net
Dim a As Integer = TextBox2.Text
Dim b As Integer = TextBox3.Text
[Code]....
Ok, an explanation for variables: TextBox2 is parameter a (user enter), textbox3 is paramenter b (user enter), textbox4 is c parameter (user enter). I manage to solve result for D , as you know D is all under sqrt root . Now I wanted to solve x1, and there is some error. Where is the problem?
Sry, I found error: TextBox5.Text = "D = " & D & vbNewLine & "x1" = x1 (I didnt add = into quotation marks and it was like i say something = something = something which cant be done XD
I have amend my application to calculate 10% discount but dont know how to assign it or the code. i am opposed to assign the code to calculate 10% if the customer is hiring my goods for more than 7 days, but if its less than 7 days i dont want the form to calculate the discount.
Actually i don't know how to mentions the years of work into the program and i don't know how to calculate the final result. I took a long time try to solve my problem but i can't.this assignment due tomorrow morning.

if you want to make program to calculate the result of brackets math question , as 6+(9+(5-(1+(2+1)))) , and you made 2 buttons representing ")" and "(" , and you want when the user clicks on the "(" button it just applies that the number before it to be stored in a place like a label such that the program calculates numbers after it and then calculate the produced number and the label number , something will disallow you that the questions with many brackets as the mentioned one above 6+(9+(5-(1+(2+1)))) will for example store 6 and plus sign in a label but after that 6 will be placed by 9 because there is another bracket after 9 , so the question will be calculated false , more clarification for my question is the way brackets are made in the windows calculator so i want a coding idea to make the brackets like in the windows calculator
I am trying to make a program that will calculate the height of a falling ball for every .25 seconds starting at 0 and going till the height = 0 or until 10 items have been listed. I have started the code, but it just isnt working out!
Dim h, time as double Dim aftert as integer Do While h>0
[Code]....
I get an "expression needed" error from the &time& and nothing is displayed in the list box. Not to mention, I have no idea what to put in the loop or how to limit the list to 10 items or until the ball hits 0.
How do I calculate a 15% discount in visual basic in when creating a windows application.I have two radio buttons Yes and No and when yes is selected a 15% discount is subtracted from the total price. So would I just say 15% as 0.15 or should I name the 15% as a constant?

I want to create an application that able to calculate the total time the user (i.e. myself) spent on a particular application, for example Firefox. And this application should display warning message if the user spent a lot of time on Firefox (for example 1 hour or more)Reason: I'm a VB.NET developer. During my working hours, my main tool is Visual Studio and I suppose to do coding. But I need Firefox occasionally to access internet (particularly SO and other sites) to find solutions for my programming problems. The problem is I addicted to SO and SO sucks my time for hours until I have forgotten that I suppose to continue coding and not browsing the SO site.
I am creating a program for which will calculate the time taken for a user to make a number keystrokes. I want to start the timer running from the beginning of the first key stroke and end on the final keystroke. Each keystroke has been linked to a label which will change colour according to whether the key has been pressed. When the keystrokes have been finished I want to save this timespan in a field in a database. To test that the timer is running I have made a messagebox which will show the time taken however it is constantly showing zero and the label for the final keystroke is remaining in the keydown colour.

I'm not sure this question belong in this topic, but I don't know where else it should be?
I have a calculate function that adds twenty text boxes together a+b, etc... 20 +20, B changes value when a selection in combobx is changed, how can i make the calculate funtion work up selection change in combobox ? You would think the selection change or index change , but that doesnt work because the tetbox doesnt actually get the new value till after the combo selection is made, so you actually have to go and make the selection twice I know i can put the code in the textbox value change , but i dont want to do that for 20 text boxes and i am assuming there must be a BETTER way?
My motive to prepre a application which can calculate free time of the team which handle. I have written a code which updates the username and current time in an access database. How can i run the code on windows lock event.
I am trying to calculate the number of years for my calculate age event handler, however i am apparently missing a method or whatnot because im trying to calculate the age , can anyone suggest help on this. I need to subtract years to get my age but when i try the birthdate.Subtract (currentDate) method i get an error about not able to convert from LONG?
So below is what I have.
Private Sub btnCalculateAge_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnCalculateAge.Click Dim currentDate As Date Dim BirthDate As Date Dim Age As Long
I am constructing a program, i am new to Visual Basic, but i have past programming experience. I was wondering if anyone knew how to form a loop that could...lets say calculate the answer when two numbers are added together, and it would repeat this thousands of times, etc. And if there is a way, would it be possible to calculate the time taken to complete this loop.
is it possible to make one application send a task to another application and recieve the result from that secondary app?i made a text editor program and i added a scan feature and i made another app that has ocr capabilities. The scanner ability is in my text editor program, the ocr program doesnt scan you have to input an image into it and it will give text result a few seconds later.the prob is alot of times the ocr code uses sooo much memory and crashes when its incorporated with my text editor, but individually each application works fine and doesnt take too much memory. Memory wont be even an issue if the ocr program is standalone so that when it is done decoding image the application can be made to exit. now here is the question, how do i make my text editor send the image to the ocr program and how do i make my ocr program send the text back to my text editor? is it possible? i mean the only way i know off is creating temp files in a certain folder and having a timer on each program that keeps waiting for temp files. That just seems like pretty lame coding to me i was wondering if there's a better way?
I use SetParent to make an external application a "child" of my Main .Net application. This works fine. What I need to know is why can't I use Me.MDIChildren(0)I thought that using SetParent would increase the number of children by 1, thus allowing me to reference it with the above code, but it shows there are no children in the array.I have been trying, without luck, for 2 days to try to maximize an external app being displayed in my app. I can get it to display, but I would love it if it could Dock to the same size as its container (a panel)
I am making a exe application and i am using mysql as my database. So the thing is, when i change to a new computer, i need to change the file path for the database connection string to that computer.
like below:
Dim connectionString As String = "Data Source=----------SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=Flexlink;" & "Integrated Security=SSPI;"
i need to change the data source = --------------- SQLEXPRESS to the computer name that i am using for my project.
May i ask is there any method such that the user dont have to go in to the source code to change the computer's name like those normal installer?
Just install and the application will run according like any exe file that we buy.
Okay so basically I want to see if I can make an windows application or just a console application in VB.NET that will verify an MD5 Checksum. I have no idea how to start this out, but I have the ideas of what I'd like to make it.
I have been trying to reference Application.ThreadException in my application to make an addhandler, but I also am using imports growl.connector which has a growl.connector.application method. When I create my addhandler:AddHandler Application.ThreadException, AddressOf ThreadExceptionHandler
And I get "ThreadExecption is not an event of 'growl.connector.application'"
If I set a ListBox.Height = ListBox.PreferredHeight when the control is hidden and IntegralHeight = True, then set it visible:
a) Actual Height reduces by typically 3-5 pixels after redraw (but not 1 pixel per item).
b) PreferredHeight does not not appear to give the correct integral of item heights.
Is there a way to make ListBox calculate the correct integral Height before the ListBox is made visible, so it can be correctly pre-positioned from bottom edge?
