Make An Asynchronous Call To A Method?
Jun 16, 2010I need to make an asynchronous call to a method which for the sake of simplicity counts from 1 to 100. If an exception is thrown during the methods counting process, lets say at 50 I need to stop the methods execution, dispose of a few objects and restart it at 51 but have no idea how to go about it.I basically need to raise an event from the method to the main thread and restart the asynchrounous method.

Make A Very Simple Asynchronous Method Call In Program?
May 1, 2012I just have a simple vb.net website that need to call a Sub that performs a very long task that works with syncing up some directories in the filesystem (details not important).
When I call the method, it eventually times out on the website waiting for the sub routine to complete. However, even though the website times out, the routine eventually completes it's task and all the directories end up as they should.
I want to just prevent the timeout so I'd like to just call the Sub asynchronously. I do not need (or even want) and callback/confirmation that it ran successfully.[code]...

HTTP 404 Not Found Error On Web Service Call, Only With Large Amount Of Data
Sep 2, 2011I have a vb.net Windows application that calls a vb.net Web Service function. Both the vb.net application and Web Service have been in use for over 5 years and have worked well. The Windows App builds a text file consisting of a number of inserts into an Oracle table, followed by a call to an Oracle package. The Web Service call uploads the text file to the Web Server, loops through the statements in the text files and executes them. It then does a Select statement to put the resultant data in a string which is passed back to the calling program. We have both people on our local area network as well as external users where the call to the Web Server is over the internet.
The data string returned is the pricing for each of the lines inserted in the text file, separated by asterisks. Normal use of this call has anywhere from 1 to a few dozen lines, and the program works fine for this for both internal and external users.
Our problem right now is one external person is attempting to price a job with 491 individual line items. At first it would not price, whether the job was priced from a computer at the customers site or one of our internal people on the LAN. The problem turned out to be the timeout value was not long enough (it was set at 2 minutes, this job takes 5 minutes) so changing both the Timeout value in the Web Service call as well the httpRuntime executionTimeout value in the web.config file on the web server addressed the problem, but only for our internal users on the LAN. Our external customer wants to be able to price jobs of this size going forward, and I am at a loss as to why it errors on internet connected machines but not locally connected machines. Our customer is in New York, We are in Wisconsin, and I am able to recreate the error condition from my home computer.
The other thing is, if I create a VPN connection to our server from my computer at home, this job will price (again, it takes about 5 minutes) but if I disconnect the VPN connection, it gets an error after approximately 3 minutes, http 404: Not Found.The customer can otherwise price all of his other jobs with no problems, it's only this one, very large job that gets the error.

Implement A Continuous Http Stream Which Uses The Same GET Request But The Connection Stays Open
Oct 26, 2010My app currently sends GET httpwebrequests and parses the content after reading the response stream for each request and the repeats this process over and over. I need to implement a continuous http stream which uses the same GET request but the connection stays open, from what I understand. how would I change my existing code to do this?
The streaming HTTP implementation allows one to cosume data in real time over a single persistent HTTp request. It access a data feed that continues to send activities on that response. I need to read data from the response, process it(parse and store) and then continue reading from the response and continue this process until the connection is closed. Would this be like a asynchronous request instead?

I now have to read the data from these tables and make http calls to 2 webservices. Based on the response received from the webservices, the data gets archived or deleted.I had a few specific questions:
1. How do i make sure that if i pick a record for processing and the http call fails I should be able to go on to the next record, and then come back to this record at the end of the run

I want to have the ClickHandler fill a RichTextBox on Form1 (I added a RTB to Form1). My problem is I can't do a Dim xForm As New Form1 to fill the RTB from the ButtonArray Class. I can place my file's text in a MessageBox so I know the code I added is correct. I also tried placing a Property method on Form1 and using a Accessor to fill the RTB, however it also requires Dim xForm As New Form1. How can I get my data from files to the RichTextBox on Form1 from the ClickHandler in the ButtonArray Class? See ButtonArray Class Below.
