i want to make some arears of my form invisible, i have 2 scenarios, one how to hide parts of a form that have specific color such as blue
the other scenrio is to make the for invisible and show only controls on it such as group box, also how to give the form different shape not rectangular
as an example same as startup form for VS 2010, and how to make its corners more rounded
I have a printing problem. I made a VB 2005 form with a few controls like labels and listboxes. Some of them are located at the bottom of the form and they are invisible. The problem is when I start printing the form - that invisible controls could not be printed. I tried with follows

View 3 RepliesI'm trying to make a thumbnail toolbar button (TTB from now on)visible when the it is clicked. I know how to do stuff when it is clicked, AddHandler etc. But if I tell it TTB.visible=false then it doesn't become invisible. If I put TTB.enabled = False it will be disabled, so it's only the visible that isn't working.
Also I put a button on my form (not a TTB) and when that is click wrote, TTB.visible = false and that didn't work, so there is no way to make it invisible.

firstly i wanted to say sorry for my english. And my problem is a windows xp which is almost all of parts disabled. i'll try to explain with a screenshot
this is a sample pc not the real pc that has the problem All the start menu items , and the other stuff like group policy , run menu , task manager , my computer , control panel also internet access disabled except 1 or 2 site and internet explorer's Options menu also disabled
Local area connection's Options menu disabled too for change Icons on desktop like My computer , files disabled , and you can't access the C:/ folder via the browser it is disabled too which libraries do i supposed to use ? or could you guys give me some info for how to do ? i know i didn't explained myself enough but i really have to enable all options on that pc , including all start menu items , group policy access , and access to drives .
one last question , my first aim is surfing on the internet sites without restrictions , it is a router sided restriction i think , if i use softwares like Hotspot shield , can i surf on the internet without restrictions ?
I need helps on the following of my questions. I want to separater my Windows application project into two parts.(Currently how i code is all my class, module, form will be in one single project)
Now I want to separate them into two projects under one solution.That is One project will only include pure design which is win forms.And another project will include DB processing and background business logic.
Can I know how to do that??Currently only way I can think of is pass the required win form control to the Class Project. But I don't think it is a good way. And at some point, I may need to use all controls on the form to perform a single job. So, I end up passing all controls to the Class Project.
I want to try to google it but don't know which key words I should use to search. My vocab power is not that good in english.If you know how or have some samples (even a button click or display some text sample) , please kindly share me about this.
The reason I do this is because I want to separate my business logic with design. So, later me or other developer who handle my projects can focus on business logic if something went wrong. I think this can make the projects easier to debug and study.And also easier to pass to end user if we update or fix the error.In so, we don't need to give the whole set up package to user. we only need to pass them the dll class.

It works great except I was have an area where I allow the user to choose which columns they want visible or invisible. I understand the properties to change a button from visible to invisible, but I need to be able to have two buttons alternate visibility when the first button is clicked.It's for a game. The first button is to "Begin Game" and on open, the invisible button that sits over it is called "Begin Again" which I would like to only appear once the Begin Game button has already been clicked. This would then trigger the "Begin Game" to become invisible.

View 5 RepliesSo I have a program that only has one form in it, this form is just an "About" window that appears when a specific context menu item is clicked from the system tray icon (NotifyIcon) that is on the form.
All I want to do is make it so that when the program is launched, the form is not displayed at all and just the system tray icon appears.
I have accomplished this by doing the following but just wondered if there is a better/easier way?
1. Set the Opacity of the form to 0 in the designer
2. Set the ShowInTaskBar property to False in the designer
3. Use a timer that is started in the form Load event to call Me.Hide after 1 second
Then when I want to show the form I just set the opacity back to full and call Me.Show
I'm working on a project, and one thing it's supposed to do is make itself (the form) invisible, take a screenshot of the current screen, and the make itself visible again.[code]I made the 'FinishScreenshot function to call the 'TakeScreenShot' function, courtesy of AdamSpeight2008 and save that result as a specified image file in a specified location. the problem is, the screenshot ends up usually showing the form that was supposed to be invisible, but sometimes not (usually on the first form). I'm guessing this is because the FinishScreenshot and Take ScreenShot functions aren't finished working until after the form becomes visible again, but I'm not sure.

Code works but I can't set my startup form as invisible. It always shows itself as usual. I want to put it to system tray.
I know you can make certain parts of a form transparent by setting the transparencyKey of the form to the color of your choice.

Once I set the form to be a MDI Container, it seems to just ignore that function.
On my MDI Container form I have a menu and that is the only thing I want displayed. I want the container itself to be transparent. The forms that get loaded into the mdicontainer will be shown normal.

I have a windowless application that I've long since have planned to refactor into a windows service.Basically I need my service running as any usual windows service. This service has several modes of operation which I want to change from time to time. Thus I need to provide some parameters to it.In a scenario I see my service should be controlled from the command line by launching the executable with certain command line arguments. This executable should check at first whether there is an instance of it already running and if it is it should pass the parameters to this instance.How should I check if the service is running - by looking through the processes or through the services?After I'd found my instance one way or another (see Q1) how should my executable pass parameters to it (invoke some method or smth)?My only two guesses about that is that I either use TCP connection or named pipes for that. Is there any other way?
