Modify The Label (Text Property) Or A TreeNode In .NET?

Feb 22, 2011

I have a TreeView with a bunch of nodes. I have some code that is supposed to modify the label, however it has no effect. When i step through it in the debugger, I see that the the .Text property has the correct value, but it is not reflected in the GUI. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Here's the code:

Forms :: TreeNode Value Property Missing

Mar 9, 2009

It seems that Visual Studio is using a older verion of the System.Windows.Forms DLL.

When I instantiate a instance of the TreeNode object it doesn't have the "value" property. Right now my version of Sytem.Windows.Forms is listed as 2.0.0.0 and it's being pulled from the Microsoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727 folder.

I've installed all of the current .NET framework service packs....

Is there something else that I need to do so that the I load the most current version of this object?

Read Text Property Of Label From Another App?

May 1, 2009

Is it possible to read a label's text property of another app? I know how to get the handle of the main window, and how to get the handle for a child. But the problem is that there's like 20 other labels on the window and when I use winID to get it's class, it's just "Edit", and it's the same for all the labels. And the title is the value of the labels text property. [URL]

Double Click On A Label For A Text Box And Write A Value Into The .tag Property?

Apr 1, 2012

i would like to be able to double click on a label for a text box and write a value into the .tag property and then change the color surrounding the label.for example.. if the user double click the default label..(which looks like the stardard label) then I would write a "1" to the tag property for that label, and at the same time, change the line color surrounding the label to red(maybe even changing the thinkness of the line).

when the user would double click the label again.. I was see that it was already selected and change the setting back to the default.

I would like the text value of a label on my page to be set to "hello world", preferably withour using javascript.

Display SUM Of A MsAccess Database Column(s) In A Label Text Property?

Dec 9, 2009

Those who are looking for an example like this, might find it useful (or not). I know i was looking for one like this for over a week. Ok now, to make this codes work properly, you have to make a Database in Ms Access (I used MS Access 2007) . Create a table of two Columns, one name Debit and one name Credit. Both of the Columns Data Types must be Long Integers or you might get some conversion errors at run time. Now save the database in Access 2000-2003 Database format. And last of all, put the database in your projects DebugBin directory to avoid the database Connection Errors.

Method To Modify Value Of Property

Feb 18, 2011

I've got two classes deployed as COM+ components, let's say ClassA and ClassB. ClassA has some public properties. ClassB sets values for those properties and calls a method of ClassA. The method itself does not modify the value of the property. After the call the values of the properties are reset to default values for the corresponding types. This only happens if the called method includes statement ContextUtil.SetComplete(). Once I comment out the statement the values of the properties remain same as they were before the method call, which is what I expect. Do I overlook some basic concept of COM+ objects and their contexts? I would expect the property value to remain the same in any case.

Here's the simplified listing for the code:
Option Strict Off
Option Explicit On
Imports System.EnterpriseServices
<Transaction(TransactionOption.Required)> _
Public Class ClassA

Modify VB Property Template In VS2008?

Mar 1, 2009

In VS2008 (VB.NET) when you type Public Property X As SomeType and press enter, VS auto-generates the rest of that property definition for you.

I would like to be able to customize what VS generates. Any thoughts on how to go about that? VS must have a template for it somewhere, eh?

Impossible To Find TreeNode Text

Jul 2, 2009

So I have a TreeView that starts off empty. Sequence of events is as follows:
Add a new root node. Code makes the label edit box pop up immediately, and I give it a name.
Add a new subnode to that root node.
Add a new root node, after the first one. The label edit box pops up, and I give it a name.

The second root node takes on its new name, but so does the subnode added in step #2. Now, it's not really the subnode's text; if I examine that TreeNode in the debugger, it has the proper text for a subnode. But that text that was entered into the root node sticks around through expanding and collapsing its parent node, until something else happens and I need to rebuild the tree.

I'm building the tree in kind of an odd way - removing all root nodes from the parent, all child nodes from the root, updating all the tags and text, creating new nodes, then re-adding the nodes to their parents - but I've checked, and the proper text is being associated with the proper node. The TreeNode that is showing the wrong text has only ever modeled the one object, never had anything else in its Text property, and has its text set back to the right value ("untitled action") right before being re-added to its parent node.

All I can think of for a culprit is the code for the label editing box, which is based on an MSDN sample:
Private Sub EditSelectedCategoryName()
If Not ActionList.SelectedNode.IsEditing Then
ActionList.LabelEdit = True
ActionList.SelectedNode.BeginEdit()
[Code] .....

EditSelectedCategoryName is called by a context menu item's Click event, right after the new root node is added and made the selected node. The DisplayName setter in the AfterLabelEdit event handler is what triggers another chain of events that rebuilds the tree. So am I screwing up some internal structure of the TreeView by altering its contents in the AfterLabelEdit event?

Loading Text (strings) From A Database Into A Label.text (so Text From Database Shows Up Into Label)

Apr 4, 2011

I have a form that I am loading text (strings) from a database into a label.text (so the text from the database shows up into the label) I have done this code in a class that keeps all my database stuff seperate.

Public Function getQuestions() As List(Of String)
Dim question As New List(Of String)
objConnection.Open()
objReader = objcommand.ExecuteReader

[CODE]...

Within the form that the label is in I have done this code

Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Label1.Text(db.getQuestions().ToArray)
End Sub

I am basically making a quiz, so that when the form loads, question 1 is on there is 4 possible answers. You then press next button and it goes to the next question.

Update And Modify Text Files?

Mar 21, 2009

i have a project that requires me to make a unit converter. the units should be defined within the program. i have reached a point where i save the defined units in a text file for a simple example converting meters to kilometers where it gets divided by 1000 i made the program to save the a string in a text file to represent that as:
meter,kilometer,0.001

which means it gets multiplied by 0.001 anyway the problem that i'm facing that when i want so save another units in the same file the previous units gets deleted. how to make the program update the text file that it adds the new defined units in the same file but before that it looks in the test file if the unit is already exists and if it does it will replace it with the new value

is it possible to read a string just before the second comer? foe example if the string in a file is: meter,kilometer,0.001 it will read it as: meter,kilometer and is it possible just to read the last value? 0.001
